If is because their introduction of medical advancements to the colonies lead to 1 billion Africans then that dislike is justified, if it's because colonialism bad then you are under the illusion that they were not significantly better people than you. I don't see any of us risking deadly diseases and plain old violent death fighting with slavers on the opposite side of the planet, bringing peace to lands riven by war or introducing impartial legal systems to people entrenched in corruption, or who in some cases were eating each other a generation before. Before disparaging read a bit about them in their own words, nothing they did was easy, and the fact they pulled it off makes it apparent that our ruling class are lesser men, whether or not you agree with them politically.
