Listen lads...England had a hard enough time with the US BEFORE we found an ACTUAL striker. Balogun wouldn't make the English side as a 21 year old but he most likely would by 2026 and surely by 2030. The US gave the opportunity to a kid on the rise...and he took it. I'm sure it's nothing though...tee-hee...

Now that said i was rooting for Canada in the World Cup and thought really they played better good enough in the first two matches to get results.

Pulisic is properly pronounced "pulisich" but he himself is 2nd generation Croatian-American and grew up pronouncing it Americanized as "pulisick." Presumably his parents pronounced it that way to fit in. But I guess in the UK there are probably a lot more Balkan last names and they are pronounced properly so it feels weird to not pronounce it properly, even if the individual himself prefers it with a different pronunciation.

When the commentator says the US are undisputed kings of CONCACAF he's referring to them having won every trophy in the region for a couple years now, and advancing further in the world cup than Mexico or Canada. Their player pool is younger and better than anyone else in N. America and based on this tournament it's not close. Admittedly that's not saying much because CONCACAF is maybe the weakest region in the world. The true test for them will be the Copa America (The Western hemisphere version of the Euros) where they will play much tougher competition from S. America.

CONCACAF has two tourneys the National league and the Gold Cup like nations and the euros in uefa, The USA have won the both Nations leagues and the last Gold Cup. So just like a boxer, the US holds all the trophies for CONCACAF at the moment. Balogun is only 20-21, the 9’d in front of Balogun in England are all half a decade or more older than him. Second, in his first year of club play at the senior level he dumped in 21 goals in France. The guy is seriously putting everything together at a quick rate. If he continues to improve there is no reason why he couldn’t surpass those players you mentioned. In addition, I think he didn’t want to wait around for Kane to age out to get a shot to compete with Wilson and others for the England 9 when he could slot in as the 1 for the USA right now and have the opportunity to be playing in the next World Cup on home soil.

Well, for sure USA will win a World Cup before England does again, I would bet anything on that. If we ever get a decent manager, then we’ll take it to the next level. The problem in USA is how expensive it is for youth to travel on quality clubs. In Europe you have clubs paying the parents, in USA parents spend $10-20k a year so if you’re poor how will you travel and pay for your kid to play in many games? I think much of the world doesn’t understand how youth soccer in USA works. Wish I could find a KZread video to explain it all, but just know that poor inner city kids in USA can’t afford to play soccer or hockey or baseball anymore. It’s why basketball made such strides in the 80s as other youth sports became large for profit industries.

Adams could slot in at RB....but he's not as technical or attacking as our starting RB (Dest) who was suspended against Canada for a Red Card. Yes, when everyone is healthy and available it is going to be difficult to get into the starting midfield spots. Depending on tactics/formation one of Adams, McKennie, Musah, Reyna, or Weah is going to be benched. IMO a 4-2-3-1 formation with Adams & Musah/McKennie as the deep double pivot and Pulisic, Reyna, & Weah across the attack is the best use of the pool. Musah/McKennie rotate starts and is the 1st off the bench to give us fresh legs.

Where the "drama" comes in is he and his wife were close friends of the Reyna parents as they were team mates. But they didn't like how he utilized Gio and like most Americans, think he is a tactical nightmare. So they started this convert campaign to get him bounced toward the end of his contract and leaked some information about him kicking his wife (when he was 18 and he is still with her now). So that got out there, they did an investigation, and determined it was not a abuse situation and they got counseling yada yada yada, and he was rehired. Much to the ire of US fans. We shall see. If their form goes to shit we all know the reason. Compared to European, Mexican, and Latin America soccer drama, this is really Fisher Price shit, but when it got out it was pretty popcorn worthy.

Balogun was wanted by england n he surprised them big time by switching. England is keeping older players on the pitch while they r gonna lose their young players if Southgate isnt careful. Kane is a great forward but his time will come n the ones around him are getting up there. Usmnt is giving their young players opportunities. Why he switched!!

lol. I get you guys not understanding the full fallout with Reyna. The issue really wasn't between Gio and Gregg, that was handled in camp (basically a teenager not handling himself professionally, lol), and from what I understand, everything turned out ok between them. The issue stems from a cultural phenomenon in the USA called "Soccer Mom". Gio's mother, despite him being an adult with his own career, took it upon herself to attempt to blackmail Gregg Berhalter to get her son more playing time with the national Team over an incident between Gregg and his wife back when they were in college and dating. The investigation forced Gregg to step down, with literally nothing coming from it. What sucks as a USA fan, is Gio's dad, Claudio is one of the USA's best players ever, even earning a World Cup Best XI selection in the 2002 World Cup, and used to be a close friend of Gregg (and former teammate).

Gregg’s contract was up once they lost against Netherlands. The mother shouldn’t have gotten involved, but it wasn’t blackmail. Gregg also shouldn’t have told everyone about the Gio event at the conference after the World Cup was over. Very unprofessional to talk about locker room issues. They were both wrong.

Except when he said Zimmermans volley would be in the back of the net if it was an attacking player. It would have been a worldie, regardless of who hit it. Maybe a bit spoiled being a city fan

The USA could be way better especially with the young generation and with balogun coming in but the federation is terrible and the rehire of Gregg berhalter is what makes us seem terrible to other people.🤦‍♂️

It would have to take the U.S. somehow finding a way to push the internal popularity of the sport to the same level or above that of Basketball and American Football....only then could we possibly come close to winning the World Cup.

Disagree--its more about getting our player development right. We have enough athletes heading into the development funnel to get there.

@@Vergilius314 I disagree. Most other nations' children grow up wanting to be a footballer. That means that most of their best athletes grow up wanting to play ⚽️. Plus the best way to ensure our player development improves to where it should be and also that we have better coaching and managing is by improving the popularity

You're right that better coaching would eventually result from the sport being more popular, with youth coaches being more likely to know the sport. But that is an indirect effect and only part of the problem. We didn't see the current golden generation break through until MLS got a real academy system in place, and even now only a few of those academies (Dallas, Philly, etc) are consistently producing great players, and much of the country isn't covered by the academy system at all.

Claudiaren Reyna married a female Karen. They had a little karen and raised him well, with an overwhelming level of entitlement and pussitude. When little Karen didn't play in the World Cup, momma and poppa Karen threw a proper tantrum, including digging up some dirt from a few decades ago. Hence, the firing under domestic abuse concerns. They're a pathetic, but perfect, example of US soccer parents. Their ilk is why I quit coaching club ball. Kids missing practice for a damn haircut and then complaing to the club director when they don't play much the next game lol. I'm well happy the English wrote off Balogun. We're going to get some great work out of him for the next 2 world cups. Love the youthful talent we've got coming up!

Don’t sleep 😙😜 the thing people don’t realize is we are so young. And competing with teams like England. The English are incredibly cocky for having little to nothing to show for it. That’s exactly why we will over take them in power rankings and performance at the World Cup. Barring a Gregg Berhalter letdown
