This was actually an A Cappella group. Lee Greenwood is the original songwriter/singer (older gentleman). Home Free is the A Cappella group that was singing in the studios and the soilders were in the uniforms. All the music was done with just their voices. Adam Rupp from Home Free is a world champion beatboxer. You should check out some of their stuff. Man of Constant Sorrow is a great place to start. Great reactions!!!!

Adam is not a World Champion beatboxer. He has won a few small/local competitions many years ago. Nothing even close a World Championship. He said he has never competed in one and doesn't have the time nor desire to. Every Beatboxing World Championship is here on YT if you want to check.

As others have pointed out Lee Greenwood (original performer of the song) was the first gentleman singing on screen. You have Home Free an acapella group (the guys' at the mics in regular civilian clothes), and members of the US military (the ones in uniform). All of this recording is done without instruments, all the vocals and instrumentals you hear are all voices and sounds created by the voice.

Our military bands and choruses are amazing. Lee Greenwood is a long enjoyed country singer. And, of course, the Home Free boys are amazing.

Still gives me goosebumps after 39 years.

I can’t hear this song with out bawling my eyes out. This song is very special to many. Lee Greenwood is a country treasure, been singing/writing since 1962, he agreed to do this with the acapella group Home Free they are the other singers not in uniform.

Lee Greenwood wrote this song, it was a huge hit for him back in the 1980's. The soldiers are the USAF Singing Sergeants. This recording was done when Covid made it impossible for them all to record in the same place, the buildings shown in the very beginning were the recording studios in the various cities closest to where they were at the time. Lee was 77 when this was recorded, which in itself was quite impressive.

This came out in 2001 after 9-11. This song is a grat song and brought so many Americans together during at time if terrorists.

I dont care how many times I see this video, I still get chills and it brings a tear to my eye. If there was ever a song that truly captured the heart of American patriotism and love of country, Lee Greenwood wrote it right here.

I am an American who is 60 years old. I remember the first time I heard this back in 1984 wrote and sung by Lee Greenwood. I actually, literally walked into him at the Las Vegas Hilton on my way to the lunch room. I said my bad, he said no problem. This song went on to be second only to the national anthem. What blows me away with this video is that he is almost 80 years old and still can belt it.

The original song came out in the mid 80's and was amazing. It will always hold a special place in my heart because it was the song they played when I graduated Boot Camp in October of 1999. I cried like a baby and I was so very proud to be serving my country. I retired from the US Navy in 2021 after 22 years of service to my country. One of the very best renditions of this song. Lee Greenwood released it in either the late 70s or in the 80s. It is such a beautiful expression of love for the USA. When my husband was in charge of a banquet for the Association of the United States Army in 1984, after he had some survivors of the Bataan Death March speak, he played this record. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!

I joined the army in 1988 and they played the song after we said our oath.

Our country is young and we're not so many generations removed from those who fought for our freedom and created our country and our flag. I think that's why Americans put so much value on our flag and our patriotism.

American’s are patriotic because we respect those who have served, sacrificed and even given their lives for our country. Respect and appreciation is the very least we can do.

I believe this Lee Greenwood song (God Bless the USA) feat: Home Free & US Airforce Choir was recorded in 2020 in the height of the Pandemic and so they all recorded via some sort of Zoom recording session.

When 9/11 was going down, the first thing I needed to do was listen to this song.

Lee Greenwood wrote the song and was the original artist to sing it that I know of. But the HomeFree/LeeGreenwood version is SO AMAZING!!!

My uncle served for 10 years on active duty in the army, luckily survived and made it out. My other uncle didn’t serve for the military but served for the NYPD counterterrorism division and served for over 25 years! So to everyone serving our nation and protecting our cities! God bless!

In the military you are asked a battery of questions before you go in. For instance when my brother went in they asked him a bunch of questions including if he had ever played and instrument, he of course said yes he had played saxophone years ago so to his surprise when he got to boot camp they informed him that he was in the military band and they said don’t screw up. He hadn’t played saxophone in years but had to play it and do it well, all while still doing all of his boot camp stuff. He didn’t get time out of any of the other boot camp stuff or studying but in his little bit of free time had to go for band practice. He said it comes back to you in a hurry because you know if you screw up you’re going to be punished with extra workout/hiking or something unpleasant and exhausting. He said when they ask you all those questions at sign up you have no idea they are putting their band and choir and other things they think you’re skilled at or at least have did before for future use for the military. But he said we sounded great when we performed for the graduation ceremonies. You would have no idea we were a ramshackle group who had never played together before boot camp and that some of us hadn’t played an instrument in years before joining up. Boot camp changes you, it’s hard mentally and physically, more mentally than anything and you’re praying to God the whole time that you don’t get recycled and have to go through it again but in the end it makes you a better person, more confident, able to make split second decisions and more aware of your surroundings and many other good qualities. When my brother finally came home he wasn’t the boy that left us. He was so grown up when he came home a few months later and more sure of himself even in the way he carried himself. He’s very much a risk taker but a calculated risk taker, he’s quickly able to assess whatever the situation and not panic. Hes in his 50’s now but he’s still got the military man in him and he’s been out of the service for almost 30 years but it’s served him well in life after the military. Also here in America, you get to know your neighbors because you help each other out especially when someone is having a bad time in life. Our neighbor across the road would plow all the neighbors driveways in the winter just to be kind and helpful since he had the equipment to do so. No one asked him, he just did it. I would always take homemade hot chocolate and a can of coffee over to him and his family each winter as a thank you, not because I had to but because I make my own homemade hot chocolate and have plenty of extra cans of coffee and I wanted to let him know we appreciated his generosity. Our neighbor next door, came over and mowed our yard when he saw our mower break down while my husband was mowing and told us to just get his mower out of the shed anytime we need to use it til ours was fixed. I baked pecan pies and took over to say thank you plus he’s went through a divorce and doesn’t get home cooked food that much so it was something I could do to say thank you. When our neighbor across the road found out his wife had cancer and she had to quit her job because of her treatments, we went up to the water department and paid their water bill up for the next two months because we figured their money was tight with her not working and all the medical bills pouring in. That’s what people do for each other here in America, at least in small towns. We look out for each other especially in times of need and don’t expect anything in return for our kindness but it always comes back to you in one way or another. It’s like the Bible says, (I’m paraphrasing) “treat others as you want to be treated.”

You know what? I want to send you some ST. Elmo’s shrimp cocktail sauce! If you’ve ever been lucky enough to have it here, then you know, but if you haven’t, I understand. Many celebrities who’ve come to Indianapolis have had to go to ST. Elmo Steak House to experience it. Michael Jordan & Tom Brady were treated to the experience by their rivals. Brady was treated to it by both brothers. Little brother beat him twice in the Super Bowl! Older brother beat him 50% of the time. Little brother has 2 Rings, both against Brady. And older brother has 2 Rings, but 4 Super Bowl appearances, all on the AFC side.

Those soldiers have to try out for military choirs. If I’m not mistaken they have to try out before they even enter a military branch. It’s not easy to get picked for these choirs.
