Not only is Daniel Tosh absolutely hilarious and genuine. But I've been to two of his live shows and he is actually incredibly loving and appreciative of his fans. Both of his shows that I've been to, obviously, during the show he was an incredibly crude, rude, disrespectful asshole. But both shows, when they ended, he was an absolute sweetheart. He got completely emotional, not crying like a bitch, but heartfelt, and he made sure the audience understood how much he appreciated them and how much he felt he owed them for his success. He was truly humble and grateful. Which you wouldn't expect from somebody who puts on such a dickhead facade.

I agree about the "art" conversation. I had to take an art class in college because of elective credits and the teacher was telling a story about how the Canadian government spent $400,000 for a "painting" that was a completely white canvas with a red stripe in the middle. That was it. Finally I spoke up and said "At what point are people going to start calling bullshit". She was speechless and the class was stunned. I did still end up passing it with an A thought.

I pursued a fine arts degree and lost interest over time because of the pretentious bullshit. I'll take a shit on Pollock, Warhol and Basquiat any day of the week. True fine artistry died when the people who put years of their lives perfecting their craft realized their paintings won't ever be worth as much as some painting of a can of Campbell's Soup.

@@exnihilo207 Buddy of mine went to a fine arts college in Michigan. Makes really intricate sculptures with pieces he welds and molds together. Takes him months, sometimes years to do. He had trouble selling his work for a decent price until he mentioned the fact that he was black and from Detroit. The rich people didn't care about the work itself, just the storyline. Now, he'll get commissioned to do something for someone and he'll insult them in the work they pay for. They love it too. Lol

I painted fruit on a table like his but with different fruits and he told me to do something different that’s not exactly like his so I painted a landscape and said “No, you need to paint it like mine.” I gave up and walked out the class.

Daniel Tosh is hilarious. When he was doing Tosh.0 there was an episode with a skydiver where people were chanting Ron, Ron, Ron, and the guy slammed into the ground. My father, brother (both also named Ron), a friend, and myself went skydiving and after we landed they were laughing about something. I asked them what was so funny and they told me the instructor I jumped with was that Ron. They didn't want to tell me before the jump because they thought I would back out, which I definitely wouldn't have because I figure he already got that major mistake out of the way and I don't fear death or injury anyway. If anything, I think it happening to him again with me strapped to him would have made a great story.

FYI, Unemployment here in the US is at a more than 50-year low of 3.4%, which in the US is the proportion of people who are unemployed from among those who are employed or who are actively looking for work (i.e., are actually participating in the labor force). It is calculated monthly by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

For a few years I worked in a restaurant/bar that was huge on betting on American football. I joined in and did pretty good but didn’t know anything about football except some team names. One week I was the biggest winner and the guy who organized everything every week ( even though no one said it out loud, he was a bookie) asked me why I picked the Dallas Cowboys to win when none of the other people did. I told him it was my friend’s favorite team back in 5th grade. That was all I knew about them. He looked at me like I had a third arm growing out of my forehead. He gave me my money in silence.

Unemployment is based on working-age adults who: - aren't technically employed to some capacity (this gets manipulated ALOT) - are actively looking to work (for example: if I was a startup founder and hit it big and sold my company and retired early at 43 years of age, I won’t be considered unemployed). To be considered unemployed you have to actively look for a job within 30 days. Underemployment is the real tricky metric that many politicians neglect to mention, but that’s another story lol.

The art market is all about protecting money. Not the art itself. In America we have FDIC that insures money up to 250k. Anything beyond that has to be invested in homes, art, or other investments that we can insure against losing. So art, and the market for art, is a big money funnel for the rich. They really don't care about how it looks. It's about what artist will work with them and play the role. On the other side of that coin are artists who don't have connections, and have to sell enough to cover the cost of supplies and time an artist has to put into their work. Like any other job. Still fun to make fun of.

The unemployment rate is based on how many are actively collecting unemployment checks, not how many “don’t have jobs”. Disabled people, people on welfare, and people whose unemployment benefits have ran out are not in that percentage that Daniel mentioned. 7% unemployment means that 7% of Americans of working age are actively collecting unemployment benefits.

Aiden, get a mathematician or try to do the math yourself and bet on final scores of basketball games for the upcoming NBA season. If you guess the correct score (which is extremely unlikely) you’ll get a huge payout, but with a mathematicians help or doing probability functions based on the scores of the last 5 years you can win big a couple of times. Last season my friend won 3 times. (Throughout the entire season) profit of 8k though. 🤷‍♂️ but then again he’s a math genius. I lost 2k. 😅 Edit: Aidan, my bad.

i would imagine art has always been the same, relatively speaking. there will always be rich idiots who will pay exorbitant amounts for garbage and rich people with a good eye who launch the careers of good artists. my two favorite artists living now couldn't be more different from each other. i have purchased an original piece from each, but they can't be in the same room because they're s different. lol, one is Jose Luis Castrillo who has a studio in La Triana, Sevilla, Spain and he paints a mix of classical European realism with abstract elements mixed in. the other is Brent Estabrook whose studio is in downtown Los Angeles, California. he pants stuffed animals and cubes in bright colors. his latest cubes are painted in single brush strokes where each cube is represented by one brush stroke. it doesn't sound like much but when you hear him explain that he can often distinguish one cube from another and tell how he was feeling, it makes it more thought provoking. i will agree with Aidan that a lot of his modern art is aggravating garbage, but one thing the painting by the elevator seems to be doing is getting attention and reactions. whether negative or positive, it stopped you in your tracks and you literally reflected on your reflection because of that painting. maybe that was the point? or maybe it's pointless.

the unemployment rate isn’t really what they say it is. go to Walmart at 2pm on a tuesday man. they calculate it by dividing the number of people who file for unemployment by the number of total people in the workforce. so people who aren’t really looking for a job aren’t accounted for.

The "unemployment rate" in the US is a bit misleading. That would be abstract art and its not as easy as you would think. You cant just splash random colors and so on the color palette used the strokes, splatter are all purpose full and ment to cause an emotion and thought for the viewer and to interpret the painting with there lifes travels also to stir up convention about what the artist was trying to convey. You kind of have to look at abstract as a painting of for instance a sun set on a calm ocean but a abstract artist is portraying that same idea with a color palette shapes, splat, strokes and so on anywho it may look easy but it truly is hard to do it and have it draw emotion from people

You can't predict future gambling success based on your history. The future don't give a shit about the past. The odds are against you. If you don't like the math, just think of it this way - it's a business and they make profit or they don't exist. Long run, you are not winning. Once in a while someone rakes in a big take. Nice for them if they stop gambling that day.

When it comes to gambling.... In the long run the house always wins.... They'll throw you a little here and there to keep you coming back. they know they'll get it all back, and more.

you just have to figure gambling for what it is, it isn't for profit, its for entertainment, and in entertainment you always pay for entertainment. Wether its going to shows, movies, concerts, or anything else. You gamble because you have fun doing it, so you'll pay to do that.

Yeah, man, abstract art is a head-scratcher. Show me something that draws my eyes and captures my attention. Art with optical illusions or hidden images cleverly disguised is way more interesting, yet far less valued🤷‍♂️
