American democracy is in a state of serious dysfunction to be on the verge of electing Trump again. It needs a serious revamp of election laws and truth in media if its democracy is going to heal.

I've been in situations where I was so off guard by the stupidity of another person, I was gobsmacked and incapable of forming a response. She probably thought that anyone who became president couldn't possibly be that stupid. Her blank expression, tinged with "WTF?" is her trying to process WTF just happened? However, she SHOULD have spoken up later and denounced that stupidity. I don't know if any magats died from it, but some did ingest bleach and require medical attention. People got sick from horse wormer, too (I used to have horses, that stuff is strong, not supposed to be used more than about 4 times a year.).

Hmmm... I might have to borrow that when talking about going to Texas. There was a time in the early 1800s when convicted criminals were given a choice between prison or going to the wilds of Texas. Most chose prison. Texas felt like a death sentence at that time. Texas still belonged to Mexico and the Comanches, and it was pretty likely one's life would end at the hands of one (or both). I had relatives homesteading in far West Texas who were killed by Comanches in the 1880s, I heard the story first hand from the only survivor of the attack. He was an eight year old child who hid, but saw his family massacred. At a family reunion, about 45-50 years ago, my favorite uncle gave us teenagers an assignment, to interview an aged relative about their experiences in the 1800s. He chose who would interview whom. I know my uncle loved me, because he gave me Helmut, my grandfather's 98 year old cousin, who told me his amazing survival story. I feel pretty damn old now, knowing I once heard a man describe surviving an attack by Comanches in harrowing detail! He still cried, remembering how his mother died. I was an emotional wreck by the time he got to the end of his story, but hearing it from Helmut was a gift I'll never forget. If you have elderly people in your family, PLEASE ask them about their experiences, record them, write them down, but most of all listen to them and appreciate all they have witnessed. Soon it will be too late. BTW, I named my only child after my beloved uncle who gave me that "assignment" all those years ago. My son is 32, and he has been writing down these family stories that I've told him. He's a much better writer than I am. I think it's important to learn all one can about ancestors, good and bad. It makes history so much more personal and fascinating.

Most of us are wise to it. He & those he endorses keep losing elections. Now, he’s bent on destroying his own party, by taking over the organization that’s supposed to fund all Republican campaigns, because he’s raised only $36 million, while Biden’s campaign has $150 million, 97% of which are “small dollar” donations from individual Americans. He’s desperate to hoard all the $ for himself. (Probably to pay his lawyers). I wish we could join the civilized world, with publicly funded elections! Maybe if we’d organized something like your “Truth & Reconciliation”, following our civil rights movement, we wouldn’t have 1/3 of voters believing a billionaire is fighting for them, just because he hates the same people they hate😔
