British Accents & Intonation Tips | English & Friends with Dan
This is the first in a new series called 'English & Friends' where I chat to my mates about the language and culture of Britain. We start off with the very awesome Dan from Britspeak. He and I talk about British accents, the best TV series to learn English AND we debate which one is correct: Dinner or Tea?

Woohoo! Finally ; )
Tom if you like the Glasgow accent , try and find some of the old Scottish TV shows made by Stanley Baxter ( before he went south and had mega budgets to blow - he's still with us at 97 BTW ). Or look into Francie and Josie ( a stage comedy act that was an early TV comedy stalwart ). You'll be surprised by their accents and vocab compared to the likes of Kevin Bridges nowadays. I always think Frankie Boyle sounds quite posh to my ears. He certainly is compared to the stuff Billy Connelly was puting on his records in the early 1970s.

I can’t remember off the top of my head but it was probably… bottom, red dwarf, father ted, Alan Partridge, peaky blinders, breaking bad, black mirror, it crowd, inbetweeners 😊

Listening to your conversation, Tom, was not too shabby.😊 To be honest with you, the Yorkshire dialect is one of my favorites, but I have decided to stick to the London based English I'm learning from you and Ally. Dan is fun in every way, however his taste of food isn't quite my cup of tea. Talking about tea, that was so interesting hearing you two explain the divide in terms concerning the different meals of the day: breakfast, lunch and dinner, versus breakfast, dinner and tea. I was brought up with the extra super and I always felt confused and unsure on when to use what except for breakfast and brunch. The part concerning the most captivating series or film ever is quite easy: the Bourne trilogy (has become a five-ology by now) and the "Hitman films", also the Equalizer films with Denzel Washington. One of the most captivating series to me was San Ku Kay (Japanese) and Game of Thrones. I loved them both soooo much! By the way 1: maybe you could do the other way round from Tom Grennan, become a British football star! By the way 2: would you be so kind as to correct the preposition "from" in By the way 1 if necessary? Cheers mate!
Smashing! British accent is really lovely.

I love the YORKSHIRE accent, mate @britspeak!! 🤘🏼 Brits have 40+ accents, 'cos they have zero emotions. 😂 And in the Northern side of the UK, especially in winter, the sunset is pretty earlier, so you say DINNER instead of saying LUNCH 😂😂😂 I love 🇬🇧
Very nice conversation sir

Hello, I want to study English with you. pleased to meet
We're all hobbits, really. Brunch is second breakfast. Breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, tea & finish off with supper. & don't forget the snack known as elevenses! Then there's that midnight snack... I hate having to lie about how I am, so I always answer "How are you?" with "Alive" because at least that's always true, then quickly follow with "& you?" I wish we'd figure out another way to greet each other, since no one who's asking really cares how anyone is! Another option to answer "How are you?" with is "Can't complain" -- you don't have to tell them that the reason you can't complain is that it wouldn't be socially acceptable! I will watch ANYTHING with Rik & Ade. FUNNY LADS! I was gutted when Rik left us.
You look like Daniel Radcliff actually
Where's the subtitles 😕
The cringe level from 'I'm 3 bad'. 📈🤣🤪
