BAKU - With an army of roughly 31,800 soldiers, accounting for both British and Sikh forces, William Hay Macnaghten entered Afghanistan. As the advisor to the Indian viceroy, Macnaghten was tasked to subjugate the Afghans by installing a puppet regime in Kabul. But the plan was a little off the mark. In the coming years, while the blood of Afghans manured the ground, the British Empire was dealt with one of its greatest military disasters.

    Hey shirvan, im posting on your comment for better visibility. Theres been a series of events in rok over the past 24 hours, summarized as the following: 1) Multiple Russian and Chinese aircraft entered ADIZ of both Korea and Japan. 2) Russian Beriev A-50 entered Korean airspace over Dokdo Islands twice and received over 300 rounds of warning shots from ROKAF. 3) Japan criticized Korea and Russia for violating "its airspace" over Dokdo Islands. Meanwhile, trade war between the Japan and Korea is still ongoing. 4) Summoned Russian military liason officer formally apologized to the South Korean officials, saying that the airspace violation was unintentional and likely caused by a "technical glitch." Meanwhile, Russian government reported that there was no airspace violation, and condemned Korea for its warning shots. 5) While all of this was happening, North Korea detained a Russian vessel, which was crewed by both Russian and South Korean nationals. They also unveiled a new SLBM-capable submarine. 6) South Korea arrested a North Korean spy sent directly by the Reconnaissance General Bureau (RGB). This is the first such incident since 2006. 7) Russia and South Korea scheduled a bilateral meeting for tomorrow to discuss the airspace violation. 8) Japan claims it never received any clarification or apology from Russia unlike Korea. This is all in the context of heightened korean-japanese tensions over the trilateral meeting at panmunjom and subsequent japanese sanctions on certain materials being exportes to rok. (Also to note, US has asked both rok and japan to help patrol the strait of hormuz.) I hope to hear what you have to say about rising korean-japanese tensions, reasoning behind sino-russian belligerence towards korea, and the wisdom of rok joining the US in its standoff against Iran. Thanks, Frank

    Considering the united states, I'd say that the withdrawal is a sign for the strength of the USA. The united states was smart enough to withdraw after 20 years and didn't fight until the end. They noticed that this is just a waste of time and money. In other words the USA always remained sane enough to not make decisions that would lead to their ultimate defeat. The USA lost a bit of her face because of Afghanistan. But ultimately it cuts its losses and keeps gong its way now. This is a clear sign that the USA will remain a superpower for probably the next 200 years. The opponents of the USA who watch this video will soon notice that the end of US-domination is very far away and they will have to deal with that.

    Keep in mind it’s largely because of the ideas of modern borders. Afghanistan, prior to the 19th century was the opposite of the graveyard of empires - Alexander, Genghis Khan, Persians, Mughals, etc all conquered Afghanistan but that’s because they didn’t bother invading a bunch of worthless mountains. They just skimmed the cream off the top and didn’t care for anything else but now you can’t just leave vast areas unconquered otherwise it will be judged as a failure.

    Yeah, I'm sitting here watching the latest retreat of empires and hearing an ominous echo from history. You could almost replace Britain with US in this video and the narrative remains the same. Even though Britain was stupid enough to go in again. it has already paid the price, evident in its diminished power in the world and inability to remain in Afghanistan alone. This time though, I fear for the future of the US. Given what happened to Britain and the USSR after they were forced out by events, I can see difficult times ahead for the the US now. How can they even begin to pretend to be able to protect other nations (Taiwan et al.) given that they were outwitted so convincingly by the Taliban. The harsh reality is Empires decline, slowly at first, and then very rapidly.

Churchill sent ships out to attack enemy without air cover . Saving both Europe and Britain from becoming part of the 3rd Reich .. Hitlers generals advised him to leave the UK for desserts till after he had colonized the USSR . Millions of Hitlers finest along with thousands of planes,tanks ,artillery had to get under way to avoid the approaching northern Russian winter .. ie Operation Barbarossa ! as an afghan, i greatly respect Shirvans work about afghanistan. however, there were some mistakes in this video which i wanna clarify: 1. contrary to the claim in this video, Alexander burnes did NOT have any relationship with local women. that was a lie which the british later fabricated because they wanted to take him him as a scapegoat for causing the rebellion in kabul (Professor William Craig spoke about it and explained that lie in detail. you can see my video on my account called "british lies in the anglo-afghan war", where Prof William Craig explains that lie") . but in reality, Burnes imported prostitutes from india (kashmir) and never wanted to have contact with local women due to the impossibility of that and because he admired and respected afghan culture and knew that this would be disrespectful. 2. contrary to the claim in this video, the afghan prince did not just simply promised safe passage to the retreating british and then "broke it". in fact, he promised safe passage under two conditions: the first: that the british withdraw from the whole country, not just from kabul. the second: that the british hand over their heavy cannons. these conditions were imposed to make sure the british withdraw 100%. because otherwise, it would mean that the british had no real intention to withdraw and only just want to rearrange their military occupation. none of these two conditions were met, so the afghan army caught up the british army in utterly destroyed them. 3. contrary to the claim in the video, the british "army of retribution", did not destroy kabul. they just destroyed a small market place in the city and that was only done to provide "a face-saving exist" from afghanistan. but in reality, the "army of retribution was totally insignificant and was just a propaganda tool for withdrawal marketing. I don't criticise shirvan for some few mistakes because british propaganda is widespread. he mistakenly took some claims from unreliable british sources but all in all, his work is still fantastic i think.

Afghanistan have an Independence Day from the British Empire. The first “war” was deception in which they were guaranteed safe passage only to be slaughtered including the women and children. This resulted in an army of retribution which freed the remaining hostages, and afterwards all hell broke loose as a detached group began ransacking and destroying Kabul. They also kidnapped and imprisoned a diplomat which was meant to negotiate peace; in short, they were lied to in every way possible. But most importantly: “In 1839-40, the entire rationale for the occupation of Afghanistan was changed by the Oriental Crisis when Mohammad Ali the Great, the vali (governor) of Egypt who was a close French ally, rebelled against the Sublime Porte; during the subsequent crisis, Russia and Britain co-operated against France, and with the improvement in Anglo-Russian relations, the need for a buffer state in Central Asia decreased.”

    You should read, "The New Zealand wars and the victorian interpretation of racial conflict" my great grandfather was a maori warrior who helped inflict great defeats on the british imperial army by our maori tribes. 43rd regiment officers and men annihilated at the battle of gate pa, tauranga NZ. Imperial army here in nz for 35 years, and they left nz in defeat.

  • @hemanag1020

    @hemanag1020

    You may want to look at New Zealand history and our Maori peoples resistance to brit imperial, then colonial soldiers. We inflicted many stunning defeats on brits who laboured under the false white superiority over indigenous people theory. When we drew their gallant 43rd regiment into one of the most audacious traps in the history of war fare. Battle of gate pa, my great great grandad fought resisting brit occupation. 220 maori, in a fighting pa, fort, the size of a soccer pitch, tauranga harbour north island NZ, march 1864. Our men dug extra deep anti artillary bunkers. A british land and naval bombardment blasted the "pa" at close range for about 10 hours. When the pa was shot to bits, the elite vangaurd of 43rd regiment moved into the "deserted" pa. Approx 300 brit soldiers entered the pa, planted a brit flag, and wondered at the trenches around them. Meanwhile, Maori warriors came up from their bunkers, took up protected hidden firing positions, range from 2-10 yards, and as the brits later described it, like the furnace of hell unleashed. Maori opened fire and brits were totally confused, over 100 men fell in minutes, dead and wounded brits. They retreated in humiliation, their words. Our dearly loved defenders, 220 maori, vs 1800 brit troops, naval gunboats, new congrieve rockets, all didnt help them as our men were undergound. That night our warriors performed haka, victory dances, celebrated an enourmous victory and escaped during the night. The battle is well known for a maori woman who went around that night giving water and comfort to wounded brit soldiers in the field who had been abandoned. Brit aim was to destroy a maori garrison to show us who was in charge. They never once achieved that goal, over nearly 40 years. Truly an outstanding resistance still celebrated annualy where the battles occurred.

That is, the same tribalism, eternal rivalry and disconnection among its peoples (helped also by harsh mountainous terrains) that make always the idea of a united Afghanistan nothing more than a conceptual chimera, plays against both foreign invaders and locals rulers and thus is of little consolation and meager help in a modern world that is hyper-connected and where trade and progress needs accord rather than weak governments, instability, lack of judicial predictability, insecurity etc.

Abdur Rahman had confirmed the Treaty of Gandamak, leaving the British in control of the territories ceded by Yaqub Khan and ensuring British control of Afghanistan's foreign policy in exchange for protection and a subsidy. Britain later abandoned her policy of maintaining a British resident in Kabul, having achieved all their other objectives, the British withdrew.? STOP TALKING FROM YOUR BEHIND! And how is that relevant to the Great Game? Every country has suffered military disasters in their history, Britain is not unique in this. But they always recovered from their defeats and came back stronger.

    This is because up until this point in history the British and other colonial European powers had picked on cultures that entered the Iron age much later than themselves or had yet even begun to smelt bronze. The Iranian people's whoever (this includes Afghanistan) were the first to smelt iron, and in fact were the originators of the so called Indo-European languages. So the British at this point were confronting their own cultural forefathers in many respects. The Iranian world was in no way like Aboriginal Australia, or Native America, and this is why neither Iran nor Afghanistan were ever actually colonized. Still until this very day the Western nations are attempting to defeat them and are not able to. I make this statement being myself a European American from 8 different nations of origin in western Europe, including England, France and Germany. It's ironic that we in the west make the statement that the middle east is forever at war, when we have developed most of those conflicts and at the same time we have wiped out no less than 3 continents of human beings (N+S America, and Australia) and committed mass genocide against the Jews across Europe (not only in Germany but also Spain and Russia and other nations) mass genocide in Africa, nuked Japan twice, invaded China and spread opium, destroyed Iran's native democratic government and imposed a puppet king, subjugated India, and currently carry out genocide in most of the Islamic nations including Yemen, Afghanistan, Palestine, and Syria!!! Wow! Yes way to go western civilization! I think it's time we pass the torch back to the Persians who had the first and only real Empire of tolerance [read on the Cyrus Cylinder and the Achaemenid Empire, religious and cultural tolerance, and the saving of the Jewish people's and rebuilding of the temple by the Persians...as it has been said before "Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin" - "You have been weighed and judged and your empire will go to the Persians" - see also the prophet Daniel in the Bible on this prophecy ⚡⚡⚡as the Persian king Cyrus is the only gentile to be listed as a messiah in the Torah🙏🔥👌
