Britain Beware! - ITV 2012 documentary about Public Information Films
Adrian Edmondson delves into the archives of the Central Office of Information, the government department responsible for making public information films. To mark the closure of the COI, Ade takes viewers on a journey through the mini-movies and TV ads that for nearly 70 years warned the public about everything from road safety to nuclear fallout. The films include hidden treasures and nostalgic gems such as Jimmy Savile’s Clunk Click Every Trip campaign, Tufty the Squirrel and Charley Says

I was born in 1964 and remember all of these even though I had forgotten about most of them, they bring it all back to me now you show them, thanks! But it just a pity they never did one that tells us why we should never vote for a Tory!

Not bad, but I wish there'd been some interviews with the people that created and/or worked on these films. Some pretty serious talent worked on them, after all...
Aww, I remember the 'Tufty Lady' visiting my nursery school when I was a nipper. Admittedly, I laughed at the weasel's name and got told off.

I was only four years old in 1989 but that Keep Britain Tidy one has always unnerved me. Even then I didn't get how the girl fell in the glass
I feel like when they show people from real accidents then it can become clear that we shouldn’t do it
They left out the one about the dangers of starting a fire at the top of a ferris wheel.
This is so good. I wish they can make more horror PIF to scare people on TV and cinemas too.
By the end of 2012 this programme would have been unbroadcastable

Surprised to see the guy from BOTTOM appear in this documentary. THINK! and NSPCC ads terrified me growing up. Horror films didn't do it for me but seeing certain ads and PIFs in the cinema or TV in a dark room did it for me.

Talking about the history of public information films (which are in some ways historical curiousities) is not being "a state puppet".
