Sabaton sings about war related history. En livstid i krig (a lifetime of war) is about a Swedish soldier in the 30 years war. The lyrics for the English version takes a broader picture of the conflict. This song is from the Carolus Rex album which was released in both Swedish and English. That album is about the rise and fall of the Swedish empire.

Sabaton is really a special rabbit hole because of the storytelling and movie-like music videos. It is awesome. Sabaton are true history buffs, they also run "Sabaton history channel" on youtube. They do not take side in conflicts or trying to glorify, they just show what happened.

About Sabaton. Sabaton is a Swedish power metal band from Falun, which was formed in 1999. The band's songs are inspired by various historical wars. Even the band name is military inspired, as Sabaton is also the name of the part of the armor that covers the foot. Sabaton has toured with, among others, Iron Maiden, Scorpions and Hammerfall. The song Livstid i krig is about the 30 years' war that Sweden took part in. The Thirty Years' War was a major European conflict from 1618-1648 that mainly took place on German soil. The war consisted of a series of connected conflicts. You missed a lot when you watched the video. First, all the band members are wearing camouflage pants, then the whole stage is built like a bunker. The drummer sits atop a tank turret and plays.

More Sabaton please, Im convinced this album especially the Swedish version is one of the greatest albums of all time spanning any genre, the lyrics are so deep, the music so epic, and the fact that its all based on real life events and not fantasy makes it hit so much harder. You should definitely listen to this entire album from start to finish, it tells a story in many parts, from the rise and fall of the swedish empire pretty much. You should also check out them playing 40:1 on woodstock infront of a crowd of approximately 1million people!

It wasn't hard finding friends there😄 And it was in Oslo, Norway, 2020. The same tour, with the same stage set, 2 days after this one. Sabaton actually had a sold out concert at the Wembley Arena in London that year! 😉 They make songs about military history. 2 latest albums are about the Great War. Check out their official music videos for "Christmas Truce", "Seven pillars of wisdom" and "1916" (Motörhead cover). Some British history there😊. If you dare, also check out the official lyric video for "Blood of Bannockburn". Sabaton also have a history channel on KZread, Sabaton History, where they tell the story behind all of the songs. The host, Indy Nidell, is actually starring as Lawrence of Arabia in the music video for "Seven pillars of wisdom".

Metal has a tendency to be tragic, sad, deep and personal lyric wise, but at the same time it’s like a relief of emotion to just be able to scream all of it together and know ur not alone. The metal community is extremely supportive and accepting of everyone even remotely interested in it, if u meet a true metal head and tell them like “hey I wanna go to a metal concert or a festival” they will most definitely just bring u along, make sure ur having a good time, show u around and tell u anything u wanna know. Good festivals with a LOT of huge bands are, Sweden Rock, Download Festival, Hellfest, Bloodstock open air and more.

Great reaction! And yes, you hit the mark on all your guesses, Sabaton writes about military history and like a few people have mentioned already, this is about the 30 Year War, literally a lifetime of war for many young soldiers. There are so many great songs I can't even begin to recommend any, the list would be endless. But I hope you will do more reactions to the band and their amazing songs. Im from Sweden and I was there for the recording of this. It was as epic as it sounds. The arena is Scandinavium in gothenburg and I believe it was around 10-12000 ppl there. Would love for you to react to some of their older stuff from Primo Victoria or Attero Dominatus.

If you're curious about swedish metal, you should absolutely check out more Sabaton! They have a 20 year catalogue of amazing songs to chose from. I first heard them in the early 2000's and I've been a huge fan ever since. And yes... this song is absolutely EPIC live. I've been in the audience singing my heart out to this song twice. They also make amazing music videos and a few recommendations are: 1916 - An amazing cover of an old Motörhead song Christmas truce - about the christmas truce of 1914 where the german and allied forces laid down their weapons to celebrate christmas together Bismarck - About the infamous german warship of the second world war No bullets fly (Animated story version) - An animated music video of a german fighter pilot who choose to show mercy during World War II I hope you decide to check out more Sabaton because they are absolutely fantastic. Rather than take sides, they sing about history and tell stories based on different perspectives during times of war. It's basically a history lesson in the form of music.

great reaction, more Sabaton please. Sabaton is a Swedish band with a loooong list of history based music. Sabaton also has an award winning history channel that gives background to over 120 if their songs (not music award, academic, aimed at education of the public) . Sabaton videos are often have dedications and/or messages at the end, perhaps not always but... watching to the very end is frequently well worth it. Animated STORY videos (short Animated history lessons with music videos in them) No bullets fly, enemy showing mercy to injured aircrew in a nearly wrecked aircraft barely still flying, even escorting them to safety. Night witches, Young (17-28) female bomber pilots in ww2 fighting the Nazi despite the discrimination they faced and being given obsolete equipment, aircraft ... Lady of the dark, female fighting alongside men during ww1 and being highly respected and even more decorated. Red baron, the famous fighter pilot of ww1 first soldier, unlikely French hero in ww1. Epic ORIGINAL videos. Bismark, about the sinking of the ship Christmas truce, about the spontaneous truce in some parts of the western front during Christmas 1914 40:1, about polish soldiers, badly outnumbered (just under 750 in all) facing 42 000 germans, they where BADLY outgunned desperately defending against the German invasion 1939 (with odds actually close to 55:1 they held for 3 DAYS when ammunition and supplies ran out. Uprising, the Warsaw Uprising against the nazi germans during 1944. To hell and back, they tell the story of Audie Murphy (highly decorated) and his struggle AFTER the war, so about PTSD and drug addiction that returning soldiers can face. Fields of verdun, the 300+ day long battle fought there. Price of a mile, about the battle of Passchendaele Screaming Eagles, about the battle of the bulge Live performances 40:1 from poland Uprising from poland you just saw En livstid I krig live from Göteborg Sweden , very heavy again, about thoughts of a young man going to war. Two covers that are good Defence of Moscow, self explained 1916 about the devastating battle of the somme in ww1, casualties topped 1 milion if you count both sides, all for 6 miles of ground, these are just some, there are plenty more.

Nice reaction, I was at this show (sitting somwhere in the middle of the platform to the left, from this view of the stage) They had sold out the arena so we were 10 766 metalheads in the arena that night. (Going by facts online and in the news paper after the show) As other have said here, Sabaton sings about war history, the events that happend and the fate of people during that time. The Carolus Rex album that this song is from is about a part of Swedish history called the era of great power (stormaktstiden in Swedish) from when Sweden was a much bigger nation with ambitions of expanding. The album was released with both an Swedish and English version, the difference being that the Swedish one tells the story from our/a Swedish soldiers view while the English is more from an outsiders view of the war. Needless to say, it was one hell of a show that night.
