There are subtitles if you want to know the english lyrics :-) But the song is dedicated to his late father who taught him borders are man-made and that there are no real borders/boundaries in this world and that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Joost has always wanted to participate in Eurovision since he was young and he used to watch it together with his parents. His father sadly died of cancer when Joost was 12 and within a year he also lost his mother due to cardiac-arrest. The song has deeper layers and it's also about his pain about him being orphaned at such a young age and that he has had a hard time dealing with that pain. He felt alone and needed (professional) help to deal with it all and it's about him traveling Europe and although he can go anywhere he wants to, the pain of loosing his parents always travels with him. At the end he burns his picture of him and his parents and the house of memories in order to be able to move on in life.

Thanks for explaining. It’s true! I’ve followed Joost from the beginning. He’s such an inspiration for everyone dealing with mental health challenges and STILL manages to speak and perform with humor, love and kindness. He’s a real connector and a winner anyway 🩵

The song has so much layers. Never judge a book by its cover.
This masterpiece from The Netherlands, in a happy hardcore melody of the 90's, will win the Eurovision Songcontest 2024. A sad letter to his father who died when he was 12 year. A year later he discovered his mom on the chair, when she passed away due to a cardiac arrest. This song makes me happy, makes me dance, makes me jump, makes me hakken and makes me crie. All in one. I love it. All children in my town sing this the all day long. We can't get it out of our head. 🎉

The story behind Europapa and Joost Klein is quite a thing. It has two layers: the fun, the music, but in fact he's singing about his emotional journey: he was 9 (if i'm correct) when his dad died. He lost his mother a year later. His father told him the world belongs to everybody, so this tribute to Europe. He's singing about a quest with highs and lows and his struggle with that. At the end he's there, and ready to continue with his life. He says thanks to his dad for what he learnt from his dad and the song is dedicated to his parents. Joost topped last year the charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with Frisenjung! I think he might win the popular vite, but the jury.....

They got disqualified💀💀
Both his parents died very early in his life, later he got mental problems about it. He says: I have lost everything except time. He tried to say that he is alone despite being in several countries and put this message in a very light happy hardcore song with gabber house, very popular in 1990-1995.

I can't believe that they disqualified him. Easily eurovision winner right here!!! What a legend ❤ 🇳🇱
"I am yes". I love when he said that.
this music is eurodance, was popular genre in the beginning of the 90ies and at the end of the 90ies. Inspired beats by 2Unlimited, Scooter, Happy Hardcore and thunderdome
he was disqualidified from the final due to making a threatening handsign towards someone who was filming him without permission

It is a hommage to Europe and to his parents. His father died when he was 12, his mother when he was 13. His dad told him that there are no borders and he has listened. I see the burning at the end as a symbol for the pain of this loss.
Thank you for your lovely reaction Rollercoaster of emotions Love from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ❤❤❤

I love the clever name of Europa-pa, as in Europe many countries call it Europa. Clever play on words. I love this song and it’s either my nr 1 or 2. depends on the live show and vocals.
Great reaction time for some fun in this strange world and that combinated with a deeper meaning in the end ❤
Love your review ❤ .. Joost deserves to win
Now I know what pride feels like 🎉
He wrote the song for his dad, who died when he was a kid, his mom died as well when he was a kid. Papa means dad, its like a letter for his dad.

His father died at the age of 12 and his mother one year later. It goes about together , stay together and no war his father told him that when he wass a kid. And he promised his dad to do the same.
Juiced Klein Whahahahhahha. It's funny how Joost is juiced so much lol.
💜💜💜💜 we LOVE YOU JOOST
this song is about his father who died when Joost was still a child and a year later his mother died! and with that song he wants to close the chapter and move on with his life, but still let his father know that he had always listened to him as a child!! and the title Europapa stands for Europe but also his father So it is actually a tribute to Europe, but also to his parents and especially his father
the reason why it was so sad in the end was bc his dad died of cancer and mom of heart stop when he was 13
i love ur energy man !! keep up the great work , ik u will hit 100k one day
2:27 my favorite part
7:07 Spot-on, Dwayne. This song has indeed two meanings. My compliments! Welkom in Europa, blijf hier tot ik doodga. Euro-pa-pa, Euro-pa-pa. Welcome to Europe, I stay here till I die. Europe-dad, Europe-dad. (Euro-daddy)
His father died when he was 12 on cancer and one uear later his mother on a hart failure
The laste part of te clip is about his parents died en he is saying that we are all just humans and then he says that he had listened to his dad

It"s sad. Around the age of 12 he lost both his parents. First his dad passed of 'C', a year later his mom due to cardiac arrest😢
The entire Song festival is one big freak show!
Guess who that guy in the car is near the end of the song. Yes, it's the Dutch musical legend DJ Paul Elstak. Another fun fact: That long haired guy on the TV screen is another character in our media history, which was a big deal not only in the Netherlands, but in Germany as well. I'm not sure how it was in Flanders (Belgium) and the other German speaking countries, though. This guy's name is Gerrie (it's a fictive person), who is one of five rather asocial, rude and sometimes violent adolescents who make the streets of a truely existing tiny village called Maaskantje, which is laying in the south of the Netherlands and near the city of 's-Hertogenbosh (a.k.a. Den Bosch), unsafe for pretty much everyone else. These youngster look and behave kinda like they got stuck in the '90s, which is also why you'll hear al lot of music from that period in time in the background of the two movies made about them. You might think why senseless kind of violence was so popular, but it's because of the satirical nature of the humor behind it that made this so big. This franchise was the New Kids, not to confuse with New Kids on the Block, allthough that name was a kind of inside joke as well, as that group was one from the '90s as well. The actors who play these guys are a kind of comedians of satirical, stereotype-ish humor, and you'll hear them speak (and particularly swear and curse) in the Brabantian dialect of Dutch. The word probably spoken the most is 'kut', which literally means 'cunt', but is used as either an equivalent of 'sh•t'/'f•ck' or a way to call someone names. And that word is probably followed in second place by 'jonguh' ('jongen' in proper Dutch), which sort of means 'pal'/'dude'/'mate'. It's a big thing in Germany as well, because the actors dubbed the movies into German themselves.
Thanks ...Joost trots op jou ...i am a dutchy
