My favorite every day sardines are King Oscar, Brunswick, and Polar. My date night sardines are Nuri and Bela.

I've eaten both brislings and regular sardines. The brislings are tender to the point of mushiness. To me, the texture is more fatty. I enjoy both, but prefer standard sardines which are much less pricy and have a more lean, meaty texture. I love them in Louisianna Hot Sauce.

Without cleansing your palate, you allow the previous ones to influence the flavor of the next one you try. King Oscar influenced the next, and so on. Not a good test, imho, but you know what you're looking for.

Thunderbird Serrano pepper hot sauce and King Oscar brisling in virgin OI is my fav. Enhances the good flavor and reduces the fishy notes.

A tip: get a plastic cup, open a corner of the can, rest the can so that the oil can drain out of the can into the cup, then remove the rest of the can cover.

add pepper, a squeeze of lemon and tabasco hot sauce and you have a lovely snack or meal. Also, bring some brown or wild rice along to complete it.

Those big basic deenz come in lemon flavored olive oil. Its superior, by my taste, to those regular ones. Pickled jalapenos with the lemon olive oil packed deenz gets the job done. I stopped buying the big'nes all together. I had no idea "sardine" wasn't a species of fish but a small harring.

when p[eole test or taste Oilive oil, to get a good feel for the difference ,they take water with alittle lemon and clean the mouth before tasting another, better testing, bettter feel for difference, just a thought.

Smaller sardines tasted better than bigger sardines. That's why, I always preferred Norway products, especially Brisling 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤. My father used to sell Norway canned brisling Sardine in 1960-1975, but is hardly available now. Mostly other brands.
