Oh man, I have a lot of questions! I am trying to add some smaller blades to my 'collection' (I dont have a large collection) and the Bobtail has been on and off that list for a while. I tend to overthink things often, and enjoy researching stuff. I just took the Bobtail off my list again last night before I saw this video this morning. Id love your opinion on this, now that you have a Bobtail and like it: first, the steel. Its Mora's cheap stainless steel. I know it's ok, but I've much better steels on most of my non-Mora knives. Second, the length of the handle - I don't know how large your hands are, but it seems small and Brisa handles often seem too short for me. It would cost me about $115 Canadian as of right now, and that seems like a lot for a small knife of that steel. What are your thoughts? If you take 'requests' for videos, I'd love to see your thoughts and recommendations for smallish knives, including puukkos. (Don't need to bother with Mora though, as I've enough of those to last me a lifetime or two...) For that matter, I'd be interested in your thoughts on larger knives too. Recommendations that a guy could use to add to his big knives. (I have mostly the usual 'bushcraft' type sized knives... 4" - 5".) Oh, and one last thought, we have lots and lots (and lots!) Of timber wolves around here. I don't trust them, especially if they're used to humans and bold. And watch your dog closely! Theres no domestic dog alive that's a match for a wolf, in my opinion. And they love to lure and eat dogs. I've met people who have lost dogs to wolves right off a leash! 😢 Great video, as always! Sorry for the huge comment... 😞

Wow, tough and good questions! The thing is that I own (have owned) fixed blades this size mostly as Puukkos (järvenpää, marttiini etc). Why I bought this was that I noticed that I dont own any slicy flat grind type edc fixed blades. (still regretting not buying the LT Wright Small Northern hunter, when I had the change. Though not a full flat. Anyways will get that one eventually) I have the Bark River little creek but going to sell that one away (too small, too thick, too bad handle, no use). Noticed one day when I was using the Brisa Birk folder 75 that I like the sclicy profile of it but that I dont have any fixed blades like that. I love my small puukkos (better at woodwork, and with nice handles). But I was after sliciness, if that makes any sense. So as a first impression, very pleased with this one. I have I guess medium to large?) hands. I guess. This handle is just about right. But yeah, on the smaller side. And not as comfortable as, lets say Ahti Tikka, or many other edc small puukkos. But at least for me enough. (f.e Little Creek by Bark River is totally too small. Did also found the trapper handle tad too small) As for the price, thats always a tough one. When knives are reaching f.e 120e or over price points, it becomes tougher; one starts understandably to expect certain things more (do think they could and should just upgrade the 12c27 steel. It would make the knife more appealing). So really hard for me me to say buy or not. I payed 70e in total for this, and felt it was ok (bought it as a total impulse buy, when going to sleep. Dont normally do that😂) Interesting that for example the very similar Swedish Casström Safari (with same steel) costs 111 e in Lamnia at the moment. Dont know if I’d buy that. (at least not as an impulse buy). The overall price-quality ratio is actually quite tough, complex and interesting question (have thinked of doing video about it). I definitely take requests. kind of honored that people make those. And will keep them in “korvan takana” Finnish for keeping things behind ears (dont know if its phrase in english. It means a bit more, than just keeping something in mind, “pidän mielessä”). Actually dont have too many big knives at the moment. I’ve sold many many also away (some which I really regret. That has then again made selling my knives a tad harder for me, lol😂). Has been a bit of an priniciple for me: not keeping knives that I dont use. Rather sell them, and buying another knife to replace them. For example will sell my Bark River Little Creek, and with that money I will get two knives (already know which I will buy) At the moment, for big knives I’ve started to dig the Leukus a lot. A knife type I never really got into. Though as a Finn they were all over, and also owned previously few, just didnt use them before. Good points about the wolves. As the population is growing here in Finland, people are in fact becoming more wary of them. Wife also saw one just last summer, really near during a night, right in the village. Thanx for watching, thanx for the comment, and have great day there in awesome Canada!

Couple of weeks ago was evening foraging and fishing in a remote forest and lake area previously unknown to me, and suddenly realized I have arrived in a place nothing short of a deer massacre. Bones, skulls scattered all over in a very large area. You see deer bones hunted by wolfs of course very often in these forests. And howling and Wolf sightings are normal business. But havent seen anything like that before. Never learned to fear the forests, and seen Beers(closely), lynxes. There I felt I've somehow crossed some border. That I was being observed. That I shouldnt be there. Theres actually a phrase in Finnish called being at "Susirajalla" (Wolf Border). Susi=Wolf Raja=Border. Meaning not only a place very remote and far far away (I often kiddinly say I live at wolf border). But, as my father-in-law who lives in Karelia explained, it meant also a place where you shouldnt be. Was actually rather eerie there.

@@OldForestBushcraft Oh man, I know EXACTLY what you mean about being observed. I had a feeling one day (while working on assessing a replanted area) that I was being watched. Just about that time I looked down and saw THEE biggest wolf track I'd ever seen! I decided to leave and come back. I wasn't frightened as much as uncomfortable. I see bears and lynx and even coyotes all the time and they don't freak me out. But wolves.... contrary to what everyone says, I don't trust. They're the villians in fairy tales for a reason. And I've got stories! Around there they're HUGE. As tall as a small deer often. They will take a dog off a leash. One of their favourite tricks is to send a bitch in to 'play' and lure a dog away so the pack can attack and eat it. They kill a lot of pets up here. I'm not frightened, but I am careful when I'm in wolf country (which, as I say, around here is anywhere outside of town). Cheers!

@@kanukkarhuWow! if im not mistaken I've read the Wolfs in Canada are the largest in the world! (Have to admit the Wolf that I saw in our parking lot in winter was also huge) I was able to observe it for 10 min. from another side of the garden (I was also outside). The population is growing and growing here. And is the largest in Europe. The wolfs of our area have been all over news in Finland in the summer for killing sheeps, pets etc (they just killed few weeks ago 32 sheeps about 15 km from where we live).

Was pleasantly surprised with this one, very nice design imo. Could see this becoming my go to edc. Still a first impression though, and too early of course. Thanx for watching!

Very nice video! I’m really liking these small leaf-shape blades for edc now. I don’t have the Brisa, but regularly carry a Creely Blades Mako in CPM Magnacut. It’s about 10mm shorter but comes with an in-pocket sheath that works great! It is a bit pricey, but sometimes you get what you pay for. Great to see you cooking mushrooms…There’s a lot of controversy right now about the re-introduction of grey wolves into the American west, especially California.

Looks like very nice edc blade the Creely Mako. This has been a blade type I havent really used. Only Puukko type of edc. Really really liking this one! The Porcini was very delicious cooked like that. Similar (but tastier) than the Champignon. Thanx for watching!

I have the Nekker and Bobtail, both are excellent. Brisa seem to do a great job on their 12c27, holds an edge better than Mora. I had to sand down the sharp edges on the bobtail handle. Both really good small camp/EDC knives

Ok! Will be interesting to see how the edge holds down. Was actually thinking I could sand the handle a bit down also. Tad bit square. Thanx for watching!
