If Bringle made a full video of just him making a parody of the narrator's dialogue I would absolutely watch it, he was absolutely hilarious with it😂

Btw, if you look at the new character sprite layering, I believe the intention is for Mario to be holding on to Flurrie's hand, you can even see her bracelet right under Mario's mustache... but considering her hands are the same color as her uncovered body...

Yeah, you can 100% tell it's not her boob because both of them are visible during the animation. I agree it's probably supposed to be her hand; though the texture looks a little weird, it's definitely not her necklace and her bangles are the only other yellow thing on her body. (The yellow's also probably not supposed to be Mario's button because it's not the right shape for that and appears to be attached to Flurrie rather than him)

Im pretty sure the reason why the floor is shiny is because the floor is wrapping paper which is pretty cool. Cant wait for this game to come out

It's shiny because it's meant to look like ink on cardboard, like a diorama. In the concept art, they actually made some real dioramas of some stages, and they look just as shiny. I think it looks sick if you think about it as a diorama.

the shiny really only works on the Grubba stage thing where you fight the other competitors

The little smiling emotes for the selected partner on the partner ring as you switch to them are a cherry on top. Btw clips are out featuring more character voices and -Vivian -Punio -Frankie -Francesca voices are PEAK

I still remember losing my goddamn mind when seeing this on the Nintendo direct. Like I only saw the book and instantly knew it was Paper Mario

This still feels so unreal. A game that I and many others have played as a kid 20 years ago, now getting updated with new visuals, new musicial arrangements, animations... Here's hoping the new players get to feel the magic that the original gave us folks! 💙

The Bowser mustache is in the original game too! One of my favorite little details in the game.

no one really noticed it cause thousand year door was never about looks, until now. It looked Okay for a game cube game, but like... It's just gamecube. It's gonna have limitations.

They put flurrie in the screenshot against the smorg. This is the only time Flurrie has or will ever be in that cut scene.

The one thing I ask they change is let Mario open doors while on yoshi. They add that, perfect game 10/10

I think the shiny floors look nice, it's meant to reflect a certain type of glossy paper that's often used in flyers etc, and is also used in papercrafts. It fits imo, especially with the textures being "printed" on

That makes a lot of sense, although if the point was the papercraft aesthetic I'm surprised they didn't use a rougher cardstock or even fuzzy/felt material for surfaces that aren't supposed to be shiny smooth. The glossy paper does make sense for the papercraft aesthetic but I feel like there could have been appropriate choices in a lot of places, like with grass and carpet floors. I suppose the explanation is likely that they just really wanted that glossy smooth poster paper feel. It looks clean to an uncanny degree sometimes.

I'm pretty sure the reason why the floor is shiny is because it's using a type of printed paper that is a bit glossy. In one of the concept arts shown off, the developers actually made a diorama of the one spike room in Hooktail's Castle in real life with that kind of reflective paper. Why they use it for every single floor is beyond me, but it doesn't bother me too much

i figured the red light was an intentional reference to hal and the localisation team only changed it because it made it seem too evil or something

Pop-up story books used laminated paper/ cardboard to water proof the book so the pop-up parts dont sag if they get a little wet. TTYD is told through a pop-up story book so it makes sense that everything is shiny.

It's true, I can't stop my roommate from giving the carpet a nice shiny wax treatment.

the shiny floors are supposed to depict laminated paper, since the entire game's artstyle reflects that of a diorama (you can see this everywhere, including the title art). this was a stylistic theme present in the original game as well

I think the shiny floors are actually supposed to look like those storybooks for kids that have the reflective paper in them. Definitely gives off that feel for me.

i don't usually wake up for nintendo directs since they're typically at 6 am for me, so i still remember how hyped i got that the one time i decided to watch one live on a whim happened to be the one where they announced the ttyd remake, something i had been hoping for since about 2018. and i am so glad that, at least from the trailers, it looks REALLY good too!!

I’m definitely going to be focused on the remake for a good while, hard to say where the dust will settle. Sometimes with new games like this the hype dies down pretty quickly but I’m hoping this one will have as much staying power as the original.

It's not weird that some paper like the grass or floors are shiney. High-gloss paper is a thing. They're clearly going for realistic paper finishes and materials with this paper-craft aesthetic.

The narrator in the overview trailer is definitely trying way too hard, but I find so much ironic comedy in it.

Bowser always had a mustache in that picture. You are now just noticing. It’s funny and I love how it’s never explained.

To be fair, Bowser's Inside Story on 3DS feeling slow doesn't really have to do with the framerate so much as the changed animations. A lot of animations in that release were made slower and less snappy, even basic shit like jumping, making combat feel significantly slower than before.

As someone who loves TTYD and has become a big fan of your channel, it pains me to have to skip this video as I want to go in to the remake blind like you mentioned in the first 20 seconds. Still going to leave a like and comment to show my support 💯

Yea i'm really excited for this game hopefully they add more modern features like a cutscene skipper, boss rush and a post game other than just the pit imo, i think the fact that you can't re fight bosses and skip the long ass cutscenes really holds the original back from near perfection so hopefully they address these core problems too doing that would definitely make this game the best in the series for sure (not that it isn't already) and it would definitely make it better than the original game imo keep up the good work my friend.

Mario is actually grasping onto flurry’s little puff at the bottom! I had a glitch where Mario went invisible on a screen and flurry stretches her body and curves it, with Mario grasping onto her end!

This game is what it looks like when a billion-dollar corporation looks at the rich history of one of its most enormous IPs and goes, "y'know what? Let's actually pay respect to that. Like, all of the possible respect, for real." To me this is honestly like an early 40th birthday celebration for the Super Mario franchise. It's better than most anything I can imagine them coming up with for next year, and it's _definitely_ better than anything they put out for his 35th.

What you said about that Mario design being timeless it reminds me of when I went to my cousins wedding and he had the cake topper be Paper Mario and Peach from TTYD/Super on it

I actually enjoy the shiny floors a lot, because I believe they're imitating glossy paper, which is used a lot in arts & crafts and printing, usually seen as a sign of high quality if I were to craft a paper environment, I'd totally use glossy paper for a floor, as large areas is totally what they shine at

I’d rather have flat 30 fps over jumping between 30-50 inconsistently any day, they gotta make compromises to fit the switch’s power

I hope you all have fun with the game! I unfortunately can't pick it up immediately, and I'm going on vacation the same day it releases, but I hope to play it soon after release!

Love the honesty about everything! I bet superguard timing will be easier because the framerate change will cause them to either round up or round down to the nearest frame for timing.

@MusicJunkie37 If it goes from a 60 FPS 3 frame window, halved down to 1.5 frames for 30 FPS, they'd have to round it up to 2 frames, the equivalent of 4 frames in 60 FPS. That's 33.3% more time to superguard. We know from watching Bringle play the Hero Mode mod that cutting the superguard timing by a frame takes away all the consistency. So I can only imagine how crazy consistent superguarding will be for trained players when we instead add a frame's worth to the timing window. But, for regular players, I guess it might not matter a lot. And who knows, maybe they'll add an RNG element where when you get the superguard timing, you only have a chance of it working.

It's pretty common to process inputs separately from displaying frames. It wouldn't surprise me if they still poll inputs at 60Hz.

I'm the same way with staying completely blind to games I plan on buying. Makes it a more fun and interesting experience for me, and I also like to stream to my friends so it makes it more fun to watch when I'm doing a completely blind playthrough

Yoooo a fellow Octopath fan! The first game was already a life changing experience for me and the second one somehow managed to outdo it in every way. They're stupendous 👌

I know this remake will be good and fun to play. I also know Hawlo is doing a playthrough soon and will likely be showing lots of detail, so I would recommend checking that out when he does it to learn so much about the game.

I think the shinyness is becuase they went for that paper diorama look that uses that type of material

Only negative thing I have to say so far is I feel like the remake of rogueport's lightning negated a bit of the gloominess it had. It feels too bright to have a full blown hangman's noose in the middle of the city

My ONLY issue with the remake when it was announced was I didn't really like the sound of the music particularly, and then they go an show off that they literally have a solution for that already so this is literally going to be peak remake right here

I was curious to see your reaction to the warp pipe room for all the chapters that was added bc far less tedious back tracking. But you didn't go over that but I also don't remember if that was shown in this trailer or not.

Thank you for bringing up the d-pad. It seemed like everyone else talking about this game forgot about the d-pad. Don't get me wrong, I like the new system. But it got REAL frustrating seeing people make such a big deal out of it and act like going into the menu was the only way to swap between partners in the original.

They should make it so that if you use Flurry’s overworld ability on an enemy and initiate a battle with them while they are dizzy, the first enemy in the lineup is stunned for a turn.

Bringle seems to be married to half the cast of the game.

I hope this leads to a trend where future Paper Mario games go back to the classic gameplay style. While I liked Super Paper Mario, I was massively disappointed when I found out they were moving away from the original style and the series hasn't been the same since.

People need to stop complaining about 30 fps the differnce is not that noticable
