A suggestion: ad a new layer on the map with a numbered grid, say number by lightyear with earth at 0:0 point. That'l giver you coordinate system for at leat 2/3 dimensions (need to just ad 3rd as statement since not visible on flatbmap) and can also record planet info with location in written form. Could help being consistent with distances.

If you're looking for British mythology, I'd go with Avalon. If you wanted to go deep with the connection, you could make it so the string connection only opens up periodically, but during that time they can extract valuable resources.

1:28:45 Symphony and Serenade are two ferries operating between Finland and Sweden. They are sisterships actually.

39:07 i cant rlly say im a fan of this idea, because irl it would be a logistical nightmare to do something like this, like just have the USN carry out space operations, while the airforce does aerospace and the merchant marine uses transport ships, or something like that.

Hi there from the Orion Arm, I want to say this project is A-tier and then the map we see right now is how many systems the U.S has. Now it's sad that the Philippines is part of the United States, but what mark (the man behind the curtains) will be part of O.T.O (the Orion Treaty Organization)

You know I was wondering. You know how the Templin Institue said that each cosmic string has like a different cosmic drive that works better for it? What if we made it such that the cosmic drives work differently for each power and influence how their ships fights. For example Germans drives might be fast recharging but low distance perfect for the flak guns they have, while the soviet ones are longer recharging and thus they can’t close the gap as much meaning they are forced into longer ranged missiles to prevent themselves from being outranged. If there wasn’t a decision already the Americans strings could work best with very stable warp drives that are consistent and recharge quickly and go a long way. However they could also be very hard to turn resulting in the Americans having to get as much damage out as possible at a decent range (because they can’t turn into opponents) but not at extreme range (by the time the missles arrive they would cosmic string to another location). This means American weapons are beam weapons that can reach decently far and punch a very big whole accurately but don’t fire very fast (basically this means that at decent range they can deal high burst of damage before the enemy has the chance to cosmic drive it out of there). The Japanese can be the opposite if it wasn’t already decided. The Japanese cosmic strings could be best used with very unstable drives meaning their ships as a consequence aren’t as fast or long range but are far more maneuverable. Due to this and their relatively fast recharge rate their weapons are close range, low damage but high fire rate weapons.

Americans starting with 13 colonies might sound les cheesy with a little bit of worldbuilding. Have 1-3 be a lot smaller colonies / less suitable systems and establish that Americans had 10-12 colonies and decided to declare a few more as their in name at least to have 13 for historical reasons.

Dale means valley (northern english / scottish highlands,) not really fitting for a system unless the system itself or the surrounding cosmic geography reminds people of a valley. That said, if it were named specifically after another place, it doesn't really matter.

You want my opinion? Put some names that reminds the old America. Such "New Jamestown" or "New Massachusetts" or "New Virginia"... maybe work over the name like "Celestial York" instead of "New New York, that would be odd. Stuff like that could be way more realistic. After all this is a new "race to west" right? For the Americans at least. So probably some colonies are prosperous hubs of industry and trade while others on the frontiers are just a couple of pre-fabs holding on with the classic old american way of "politics of the guns". Ah... I would have liked to see a sort of new Venetian Republic in my Italian space empire, but it's done. 😑😤
