    Honestly, it would be so fun if Jack did a video like "Reading Books I've Recommended to People," where he reads books that people claim he recommended, but in reality, he hasn't read a single one of them.

    I love that Jack started off by saying he'd explain why 'I Wanna Be Like You' is his go-to karaoke song only to never get to that part of the story, because it perfectly demonstrated how the rest of this video was going to go.

    On the note of potential cataracts, I've had problems with my eyes not focusing, turns out it was a mixture of Astigmatism (which was fixable by glasses) and a neck problem due to tension. The constant tension in my neck, which didn't hurt, but created a long list of other, more obscure symptoms, such as mild vertigo, motion sickness and occasional un-focusing of the eyes (and mild trouble swallowing). When I began seeing a physical therapist, the problem with my eyes improved tremendously. I've also found that when my neck-tension starts coming back, the first sign is a build up of "eye floats" (those squiggly lines that swim around the eyes) these will go away once the tension is elevated. Common causes for such tension build up is: Sitting for long periods of time, laying down for long periods of time, poor posture, reading for long periods of time, using a computer for long periods of time, repeated movement (such as driving, vacuuming or knitting), and holding an or both arms in the same position for a long time (such as holding a microphone or a book) Just something to consider, in case it isn't cataracts, and you're still looking for a solution to the problem: the neck is a potential culprit.

  • @ciara1045

    @ciara1045

    4 ай бұрын

    another potential culprit it contact lenses - when my eyes are tired (usually from it being early, I've been wearing my contacts too long, been staring at my switch screen or reading too long) my eyes will just slip out of focus behind my contact lenses and i imagine its worse with stronger prescriptions fingers crossed it isnt cataracts!

    If there's *one* booktuber that can bring back book tags, it's Jack! And boy do we need them back 👀 Also about the tone deaf thing, it might be worth checking that your hearing isn't impaired in any way, and in case that's not really an issue then there's ear training and singing lessons 💖 Many people think they're tone deaf but that's actually quite rare, most of the time it's just people not trained in telling different tones apart. Just saying!

    To actually answer the book tag in the video, here are my lists! I actually stuck to the numbers given because I'm probably not as avid a reader as I'd like to be, hahaha. 5 favourite books,,, honestly idek if I have 5 of them. I like most books I read but none of them are ever really my favourite, y'know? I don't have much of a refined taste as much as I just like reading so that I can get a new perspective on things/to be able to think about things. So emotionally, I don't really get invested in a lot of books I read because I analyse so many of them lmao. In each case, here's a list of books that I remember speaking to me a lot in no particular order: - The Perks of being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky - The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint Exupery - The Guest Cat by Takashi Hiraide - Doppler by Erland Loe - Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett Now since I'm the type of reader I am, I don't even know if I read enough to pinpoint any authors that are publishing currently or have been publishing rn in general. So this list might be a bit bare, I apologize fkjsjdn. Either way, instant buy authors.... hmmm... I'd say it's these: - Ali Hazelwood (her romance books are just so comforting to read in general) - Youp van 't Hek (if you know you know, his columns are literally everything to me they are so funny) - Anything and I mean anything by Ljubivoje Ršumović; he quite literally made my childhood - Sayaka Murata (her books are always such a delight to read) Okay next question is 3 genres which is gonna be a tough one too, hahaha. I'll just get on with it. - Literary Fiction - Romance but only very specific ones (I am picky) - Mystery would be a third, I guess, since I adore Agatha Christie books Now for places I read most often... hmmm, I'd say I read most at home/in my bedroom, but I also really like reading at my best friend's place together. Or actually, I guess if "next to my friend(s)" could count as a place, then there. I could read anywhere with them. I could read poetry to them, funny quotes so we can laugh together, or just silently enjoy their presence and company in peace. I love reading next to people I care about and having it be an activity!!! Now as for the book I'm gonna read very soon; I have required reading for class unfortunately, so the only book I'll be reading is "De Kozakkentuin" by Jan Brokken for that. I AM looking forward to it though, because I got to choose to read it in each case. But yeah, I really loved the video, thank you for the book tags!!! The microphone is super crisp, albeit a bit inconsistent in regard to differences in how you hold it/speak into it. We didn't hear your feet until the outro though dw lmao. I hope you don't have any serious condition and that you can get adequate treatment for your eyes! All the best!!!

    I’m new, and this is so fun!!! I started watching your video because it was late at night and I wanted company. Needless to say you have PROVIDED. Hummm my responses to the book tags. 5 Books I Love: - The Way of Kings (Brandon Sanderson) - The Bands of Mourning (Brandon Sanderson; Book 3 of the Wax and Wayne series) - The Catcher in the Rye (JD Salinger) - Wuthering Heights (Emily Brontë) - I can’t remember the name, but I remember there was this book by Andrew Lane about a young Sherlock Holmes that I loved. 4 Fav Authors: - Brandon Sanderson, obvi - I literally have no other fav author lol. I guess I used to love Christopher Paolini, because of the Eragon books, but I really wasn’t a fan of his other works. - Maybe Robert Jordan (because WoT) - I will probably read anything by Jane Austen, but more because she writes in a genre that I like (spoiler alert oops) than because of her style 3 Genres I Love - Epic fantasy (which you could probably tell) - Georgian/Victorian romance - Oh God, I think I’m gonna have to #cheat and put mystery novels + coming of age stories equal in third place 2 Places I Read from - The couch - My bed 1 Book I Promise to Read Soon - I’ve been getting into non-fiction so I’ll be reading Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert!!!
