Brighouse 1940's weekend drew in crowds of people on a glorious weekend. Lots of entertainment people dressed in period clothing and several shops taking on a 40's look and a flypast by a Spitfire from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, as well as a real one on display along with a Merlin engine which the owner said used a litre of petrol a minute and reached boiling water point in 5 minutes making his demonstrations short but worth a look at. All music in this video was recorded at the event and the owners allow the content to be used on KZread. Well thats what the bot says.

looks like you had fine weather for a smashing good time. The Rum and Cola Girls look familiar. I think I'd seen them in some previous uploads of yours.

Yes it was another really good day out. Never seen an aircraft engine run up before, the owner said it was very loud and it sure was, I thought the sound would distort but it is OK and not sounding so loud on video. The Rum and Cola girls are a really good duo and feature on the East Lancs Railway video in the link at the end they were also on the Yorkshire Wartime Experience video taken last year. I have seen them a few more times on video I had not uploaded.
Nice video. I don't know a lot about Spitfires and tried to look the display one up but couldn't find it.

Thanks. Neither do I The owner did an introduction before starting it, I did not recorded it as the sound of music was most likely going to make it not very clear on video. He said the engine has never flown and was built as a test bed. Rolls Royce allowed engines to be built under licence hence this versions name Meteor and developed by Rover. I noticed the HP is a lot lower than the real spitfire on display which has a Rolls Royce Merlin engine. The owner said he is from Derbyshire and had not heard of the Yorkshire Wartime Experience. I said this display would be great to see there one day. I have not looked up his channel, I will put a link if I can find it

It really was a good day out and for sure would like to go again. Pleased to of met you too and hopefully our paths will cross again one day. Hunsworth is on 12th 13th August Vehicles arrive on the 11th Friday which is a day more for educational visits by schools in the area Here is a link. www.yorkshirewartime.co.uk/

@@yorkshirepud638 I have usually gone on Sunday. Last year I went both days and am thinking of doing the same this year, there is so much to see you cannot get round everything.
