I've been a member of the church my whole life. But it wasn't until a month ago where I truly got a testimony. These things happen in their own time and in their own way.

Its amazing what a simple testimony can lead to when listened to by the right set of ears!

Awesome, as a teen I remember listening to then "Elder Monson" speak, I was riveted to the spot feeling something profound as he spoke, so much so that my ucle yelled at me for being lazy. He apologized once he realized that I was in the middle of something profound for me. A testimony hits home to those willing to taste it, be it given by a prophet, an apostle, a missionary, or a street urchin. I came from another religion, I loved it, but this, this is more, and it has brought me far more.

@ConvinceTheWorld - prophets are but living oracles who help speak for the Lord. Thankfully, the world was ready enough for God to once again call prophets. I am grateful that God continues to prepare his people for the second coming of Christ by bringing his word once again to the World via his servants. Praise be to all who speak for the Lord and help further his work... Men can either praise their favorite sports hero and give them honors and do so without reproach but not towards prophets?

I seem to remember a series about Brigham with this actor. Was there a series that they did about Brigham? Trying to find it, but little success.

I do believe I am a prophet , i speak n listen to god throughout dreams & music, I seek guidance from him every step I take every day I wake up. I can see death before it happens, I can see things that are going to happen in the future before it even does and I can predict with what gender a baby is by just being present for a split second. At first I didn’t know what my purpose was till I saw it vividly like i lived it before… I’m a seeker n willing to know more about our god just not by one religion, by all religions & beliefs & hear from each church in Utah My journey will start soon enough and I promise you will find this message one day from your curiosity of wanting to learn more about Our God!

I know my self that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph smith was a prophet. It wasn't because I was "tricked" by anyone or thing. I simply read the book, attended church services and then prayed. I received an answer to my prayer and know with my whole soul that it is true. I am grateful for those who seek to find the truth and advise all to seek for them selfs. Christ taught, "ask and eye shall receive, knock and it will be open into you." Of this I know to be true.

IT could be... but in the case of some dramatized versions, it is difficult to say. Stick with me and I'll see if I can dig up something on this particular speech. Brigham Young often wrote his speeches.

The part that starts with "When I saw a man without eloquence..." (after the testimony) is VERY similar to a quote of Brigham I've heard many times. So it may be based off of that. (Or it could be that quote and I just don't remember it exactly.)

@elitemathlete There will be many that speak evil against the Lord's anointed. We'll all learn the truth one day or another. Some will learn it in this life via a witness of the Holy Spirit whose sole purpose is to witness truth: (1 John 5:5-8) Some will discover at the great and final day but the truth will not change. I beseech you to discover the restored gospel of Jesus Christ while in life and do not procrastinate the day of your repentance to the very end.

I love all the Prophets. There is NO doubt in my mind what he testified was true and remains true. People with advanced degrees in engineering, sitting members of Mensa and have almost a dozen solid patents (such as myself) realize very quickly that God's intelligence and His plan supersede ANY man made creation. I love the spiritual idea of seeking humility and submitting to a power greater, and acknowledging that prophets do exist today.

He wasn't a fan of women either. Brigham said, "A woman is the distirst (sic) creature, dirtier than a man...." and "If a woman won't lie, she is a miracle." Maybe if violins played in the background, like in the clip, it would sound a little better.

My recollection of Mormons is of being tracked by two missionaries when I was a teenager who invited me to a sports event and on the way home took me to a service of worship, without a specific invitation but just by demonstartion and expectation that I would take part. I have ever since been suspicious of the integrity of people who would seek to deceive a teenager.

Andrew, I am not authorized to apologize on behalf of those missionaries or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints itself, but as a member of the Church and a former missionary please let me do so anyway. During my service as a missionary, I would never have dreamed to attempt to deceive anyone by a "bait and switch" or any other means. None of my missionary companions ever suggested such a thing, nor did my Mission President or other senior Church leaders. Indeed, I am now 57 with my mission taking place over 35 years ago, and I can say in full honesty that I have never heard any recommendation or even suggestion of the sort. However, I believe you that what you say did happen, as I occasionally saw and heard missionaries do or say other unfortunate things that did not reflect well on themselves or the Church. Thankfully, those things were far outnumbered by the many sincere and righteous things I saw and heard, and attempted to do and say myself, both as a missionary and in my life since then. But again, even though I am just a simple member of the Church and a returned missionary of over 35 years (and don't know you or those missionaries), please accept my apology for that unfortunate decision on their part. We all have many things to repent of, and this is one of theirs.

CashPresley32 ok, well that is good to have friends of different races, but "racists" is not a race, it is people who live in deep sin, it's a form of materialism, and it can have it's own religion/god and then infiltrates inbetween the children of god.

In that well produced video extract nothing oof any significance was said beyond actors voicing that they believed other folk were genuine and Joseph Smith was a prophet. I found it very unconvincing of anything worthwhile.
