Bridgestone XO-1: A bicycle collector's 30-year dream becomes reality
Спорт
I have been a devoted fan of Bridgestone Bicycles ever since I acquired my first one in the early '90s. Over the years, I've amassed a collection of several bikes, including a few Bridgestones. From the outset, I've been on the lookout for a Bridgestone XO-1, but despite encountering a few examples, I never had the chance to acquire one of my own. Everything changed recently, thanks to my friend Justin. In this video, I'll share the story of how I finally acquired my Bridgestone XO-1 and the store of how I made it my own.

HOLY GRAIL
really fine bike…i ride about 200 miles a week and ride a bike set up much like yours…with the big tires and no drop bars i ride it like a road bike anyway, and it’s great for just putzing around…i only need one bike that does everything well…you have a great one !
This Is a Great bike!! Ive never heard of this particular model , But you can see Grant Petersons influence through out! Great Build!!😀
I too am an owner of a 93 XO-1. Great video.
Love it! Def the holy grail
Bought one in 1990 or 92 ,great bike longest ride was 50miles .
I bought an XO-1 for my GF back in 1992. It was one of the few bikes that fit shorter riders. I eventually gave it away in 2012.
Had the catalogues and belonged to BOB. Briefly test rode this because I just had to know. It was beyond my budget and my heart was really wanting a road bike, so I bought the '92 RB-2. I enjoyed that for several years but finally sold it to a bike shop and never regretted it because I had come to realize the 53cm frame should have been the next size up instead. I distinctly remember being between frame sizes and having difficulty deciding when buying. Later I tried a larger RB-1 in the parking lot ... ooh, one day! I still have my '93 MB-3 and need to take it to places I can make best use of it. Several in my orbit back then got Bstones at my recommendation. My parents with XO-5s, my brother-in-law picked up an RB-T, and I bought my girlfriend an XO-4. The local dealer LOVED me.
Sweet ride, glad you found your elusive XO-1. Totally agree them Bridgestone bikes are something special. Love how they ride!❤

This video is awesome!!!! I too can relate. I searched, for what seemed liked forever for a 93 XO-1. Then, within a span of one-month, I acquired two 55cm/93 XO-1s. But get this, one of them was actually NOS!

Awesome! NOS! I'd probably hang that one on the wall and ride the other one.
Another fantastic video...slowly but surely, you're convincing me that I need to get into biking 😅
It’s like art. Beautiful.
Wonderful bike and happy to see people with passion for older bike🤙
Had an all-original pearl white X01 that I rode to work for several years. Beautiful bike, but I didn’t like the moustache bars, and the tube set was a little flexxy for a big guy like me, so I sold it and bought a Bianchi Milano that I commuted on until retirement, still run my dogs with it. The X01 was lovely and weird, too nice for a commuter bike!
WOW. !! dropdead gorgeous...love the touch of 'patina' with that stem.Almost eBay bought one myself awhile back-Cheshire UK.Could not afford those tyres now, though.DId ypu 'touch-up' the that paintwork?..'bin dreamin' of an orange bike since my teens!
Sexy. Working on my MB2 1990 that I bought when I was 17. Be 51 in May. My son turns 21 this year. These bikes are time machines.
I have a MB-1 I’m working on from around 89. It’s been well used but great frame. Thinking of doing a Deore 1X set up. A red late 80’s lugged MB-3, MB-2 (circa 87 in green and red lugged) I’m making into a chill cruiser with chrome fenders, another burgundy 94 MB-3 that lost its Rock Shox for a rigid fork. That one has a generator hub, cyo light, albatross bars, rack, plastic fenders, ryno lite wheels, Bontrager hard case tires, big Wald in front. Bomber bike. Drivetrain original Deore LX. Looking for an X0-1 or 2! Addicted.

I don’t have any Bridgestone MBs at the moment. I’d love to find one to round out my collection. Sounds like you have a good collection!
Yeah, I test-rode this cool bike in ‘93. Loved that color and the fire road promise. But I got the RB-1 (the red one) and am still riding it! Keep on truckin’!
Great build video and cool bike. Well done!
Congratulations! I was walking through Working Bikes Co-Op in Chicago when I can upon my 93’ XO-2 in purple. All original with rando style bars and bar end shifters. 52cm. I put Schwalbe Marathon 1.5 on it. It’s my fast bike. :-]
Another great work of art!

one word sweet....
grand slam home run hip hip hooray
Nice build. Looks like it would ride like my '81 Stumpjumper.
A guy that I use to ride with in the late 90's had an X01 just like the picture with those "mustache" bars.
Oh this is an absolute gem, congrats! I was able to nab a 92 yellow RB1 (Exactly as in your shot at 1:37) off CL a month or two back and I've been restoring it since. I can't wait to get it on the road.

I'd love to have an RB1. Now that I've got the XO I'll be on the lookout for a good RB.
Great build! Greetings from Ottawa Canada

We have a lot of fans and friends in Ottawa Canada! Hope to make it up there someday.
Good job,Amazing bicycle ciao da Milano Italy 👋🏻👋🏻
I have an old road bike with Moustache bars complete with bar end shifters and they do take some getting use to.
I love it, first thanks for getting back to me on the question I had about the renegades. I have a S2 and love it. That made me want to get a steel Randonneuring bike. I just found a 88 Bridgestone C700 in my size I’m really interested in. I know they came with 28c tires but was wounded I g if you knew if a guy could run a 35c tire on 700 rims in it? Thanks
This is a similar build to my diamond back db apex. I see some X0-1 out and about here in the bay area still.
Rat Trap Pass are the perfect tires for that build, although the stock Avocet tires were okay.
Fantastic bike! I have an RB-1 and could you post a picture of the page in your catalog showing the RB-!?
Amazing video. Now you need to find a Panasonic BMX With mag wheels.

I know! They are probably even harder to find.
Lovely build; very similar to what I've done to my '95 Cinder Cone.....plus a Girvin flexstem. What is the last piece of music, anyone?
Excellent build! With the Rene Herse 26″ x 2.3″ Rat Trap Pass TC Tire on the XO 1, is there still decent tire clearance?
@ottawabikeandtrail
7 ай бұрын
Yes, tire clearance is good. I don’t think I could go any larger. I have a bit more than a 1/4 inch clearance on either side of the tire.
Hi, Which pulley did you use on that vintage Deore XT rear derailleur? I'm looking for a set of pulley that would fit. Thanks!
Beautiful bike! Is that red derailleur pulley a Bullseye pulley from back in the day?

@@ottawabikeandtrail Looking forward to it.
Are the Bridgestone citybikes any good ? Cb0?
I wouldn't trade my '93 RB-1 for all the carbon fiber bikes in the world. Before I got that bike in an Ebay purchase in 2015, I had a '90 RB-1 (took big for me) and a Bridgestone 400 in the mid-1980s.

My first Bridgestone was a RB-2. I no longer have it. I’d love to find a RB-1 to add to my collection.
How do those cantis perform?

@@ottawabikeandtrail Im glad to hear that since mid wide cantis are often criticized for low braking power
You can thank Grant Peterson.
Bridgestone USA was run by Pederson, not Bridgestone generally

Good point. I wonder if the XO-1 was a thing in Japan?
Ive got a prestige Breezer that I bought for a song. Contact if you are interested
5:11 greasy brakepad. Nice bike though.
Too bad you didn't explain why the bike is a good bike. It was mostly about owning the bike. Yawn.
super super duper
