hey ik im a little late to this video but definetly looking into a hybrid build. To have a hyprid bidge or peripheral does the whole build just take a piggy back ecu the housings and rx7 machined rotors and rx7 corner seals.. No other rx7 coolant seals or anything at all. Basically plug and play plus the tune right?

Hi, this sounds awesome. I was wondering if you don't mind sharing, how much did purchasing the housings and machining the rotors for the deeper apex seals cost, and was there other machining involved as well? Are there any other must-haves for this engine build? This route is interesting to me as I have a very healthy Renesis and wanted to reliably up the power of my RX-8 while keeping stock-like operation.

Yes the engine had renesis rotors. All renesis except it used gsl se rotor housings.

Did you get the rotors machines to fit rx7 seals or stay with the oem rx8!seals, also does this require a standalone ecu or just minor stock ecu tuning, i am looking to keep my build NA not turbo, is this possible?

The engine had the rotors machined to take FD RX7 height unbreakable apex seals (E & J). The engine would require an Adaptronic ecu. The stock ecu is terrible, its way too complicated, with a ridiculous amount of maps etc making it a nightmare to tune. Adaptronic now sell the RX8 modular ecu which is a great ecu that is fairly priced, its pretty affordable, beleive me you wont regret buying one.

jetrewrx8 thanks man, ill definitely invest in one, i saw on the forum that you kept it below 4500rpm, is that just precaution or can you take the rev range up to 9k like the normal renesis, mind you i would be shooting for a NA setup. Thanks

@@rx-8_mitch171 That was because the engine had just been built and I was still running it in. I sold the engine at about 1400 kilometres (just run in but not tuned) and did an rew swap.

@@jetrx8rew Why didn't you at least give it the beans and see how much power it made before throwing in the towel? I just randomly cooked up the idea of using PP exhaust housings on a renesis and you went and done it... only to give up, which makes me sad. Since you sold the engine already, was there some obvious reason that this just wasn't a good idea? My idea was to buy an RX-8, pick up some FD rotor housings, and fab my own turbo kit. Then to tune all this with the adaptronic.

Mate is it worth to make this build or rather go straight with a BREW? (Looking for turbo 500whp) Thanks

Shit nvm. Just realized the rx8 didn't have a peripheral exhaust like the rx7s did.

how is this thing wired?

is this engine still running?, did it ever get dynoed?
