The key is teaching your kids *empathy* when your family is super fortunate. *"Be appreciative of what you have and what we do for you. But also remember that there are people out there who aren't so lucky, and even people who are downright suffering. Be kind to those people, because it might just make a huge difference in their lives. Don't mistreat anyone or be arrogant because you never know when all this wonderful stuff in your life could be taken away."* Or something like that. But obviously these parents did just that with their daughter.

@@truthseeker9249 Exactly and my family was poor but we were still more fortunate than many people. It is extremely important to teach your kids to be grateful,compassionate, respectful,etc… regardless if you are rich or poor.

Dad's net worth is around $60 million. Wouldn't think it. Very down to earth.

Not sure how you know, but it says a lot that his daughter looks like s cover model, yet drives a car worth less than the dress. People shouldn't know your salary, unless you are a crass pig. They have raised their child beautifully and obviously with so much love. Money comes and goes in a blink but character will accompany you to the deepest hole in hell.

Even the Wedding itself shows it. But I think her simple wedding with the natural background is far more beautiful than the expensive rental places with all the expensive decor.The idea of combining the old dresses from her family also shows this but the end result just didn't make her feel bridal. But she said the dress was still nice so she will probably wear it to something else. My guess is that they live a nice life but don't indulge in so much wasteful consumerism . Buying all the latest crap that won't be used.

I’m just surprised, knowing her parents are millionaires, why she was so taken aback about a $5k dress. $5k is nothing for a millionaire... that’s the equivalent of a “normal” person (who doesn’t have that kind of wealth) spending $5.

@@skunkie110 I think it has to do with the guilt of her dad already paying for the first dress she was planning on wearing, plus not everyone wants to spend money on a dress that you wear once, rich people tend to prioritize what they wanna spend on and a wedding dress isn't really an investment.

I respect her for being conscientious about the expense she is putting on her father. I know what it’s like to have a dad who would do anything to make me happy but you don’t want to take advantage of it. But Dad wanted her to be happy on her special day. She looked beautiful!

They raised her beautifully. She is a lovely young woman. I just want to hug her - really reluctant to cost her father $5,000 when he is worth over 50 million. I think her mother is a working G.P. When I think of the number of self indulgent, greedy, grasping young women who double their father's budget, knowing how difficult they make his life, on this programme, I remember this young woman. Mind you, I would marry in a back paddock, in jeans... if I wanted to marry.

Her husband looks like a younger version of her father. It was not that expensive of a dress considering what her parents could afford. She could have gone couture. It appears she had a small, meaningful wedding in a special place.

The bride and the dress were made for each other. I love how humble she is even though her dad is rich she isn't a spoilt brat.

This is my all time favourite bride. I could watch it again and again!

Yes they are. Seem to be very humble down to earth people that just want the best for their daughter, and they don't put on a big show like so many do. Mom isn't loud, pushy and overbearing like so many Mother of the brides are, that try to pressure their daughters into choosing a dress and making their wedding what they want it to be.

I love her dad. Wish I could've had a dad like that ❤💔

My daddy worked 14 hours a day 6 days a week and my mother made all our clothes. 3 girls each had 3 new dresses each to start school every year and they were meticulously made with love to match the dresses on the racks at one of the top department stores where we lived. I never wished for anything more. ❤❤

She could wear anything and look fabulous.

This is my all time favorite episode. Beautiful and lovely bride, gorgeous dress, and the best dad ever!!

Another big question is why did she wait til 2-1/2 weeks before the wedding? Surely, the custom dress was completed prior to then. Also, it must take quite a bit of time to go through the application/approval process for SYTTD. It's all about the drama.

it might not've been. even the brides that order dresses 6+ months out are still going through alterations in the last couple weeks. i think my dress that i ordered online came in with a month to go? and i didn't have any alterations done. i could see if her dress came in on a similar time frame, and she was trying to talk herself into it because she felt so guilty, until she finally agreed to go shopping for another dress.

Is it really possible that you have some negative thought about so much? It’s finally a decent bride with her parents and a friend - no nasty words, etc. can’t you just enjoy, for once, a show that is really nice!!!!?

Her dad is so sweet. She is very pretty and her fiancé is a doll. They make a lovely couple. Will have very cute kiddos. What's not to like about them.

I used to make heirloom clothes for the infants and children of friends and family. Fine white cotton is quite expensive…fine silk much more so. What I made was free to the people I love, but when made to sell the skill and work of the seamstress gets very expensive very fast.

Oh, my. When she tried on the first dress, my thoughts were: "I see a girl and a dress that were clearly made for each other." She looked SO good in it! I've had same experiences with custom-made things (for which my mom paid) when I couldn't find the originals (ot they were too pricey). And I ended up hating them and buying the originals anyway. So I can understand her. Kudos to the dad, who understands her and doesn't blame her. We all have to try things in our lives, including custom-made designs that don't work well.

Same here. Pretty well destroyed the history of both, I guess, so as not to reject one, but then rejected the dress, anyway. THAT is the distressing part. Both dresses now gone forever. Family history gone forever.

I have to laugh when I immediately look up a bride online to see if they wore the dress, then I keep watching the video and it shows the wedding! Well, she is a photographer based in Nashville. They married in 2015. Funny how some dresses look dated and others don't on this show.

They all seem to be good hearted folks especially the Bride concerned about taking advantage of her father's generosity... It seemed like a beautiful home setting with a lovely venue just at home with immediate friends and family.. A dear friend of mine had a daughter getting married and they decided it was worth using the large fee for a catering hall: was better put to use to landscape their home (permanent) for the wedding. It was wonderful and heartfelt unlike the massive, costly productions some weddings can be. I wish many Blessings to this lovely couple.

This girl came from big money, but was clearly, raised very well with a good heart & head on her shoulders, to be that conscious of a budget. Yet considering everything, she shouldn't feel bad, if her dad is more than willing AND ABLE, to spend whatever it'll cost to make her day special for her... not to mention, she looked amazing in all of the dresses, has a great figure, but I agree that that first dress is DEFINITLY THE ONE & $5k is NOTHING, when your dad is loaded & says "there is no budget"... I'm wondering if maybe her humility also has something to do with maybe her parents weren't always loaded? Like maybe they worked hard & became SUPER successful, so maybe she grew up for awhile knowing what its like to be middle class & lived the contrast.
