There was a carpet at my friend's wedding that caught fire.

People be doing too much for one day. Everyone gets so busy preparing for the wedding day that they forget to prepare for a life of marriage. Trust and believe that couples who have a simple , inexpensive weddings have a better chance stay married pass 5 years, because they don't start their marriages being broke or with a financial burden.

One of my aunts wedding dress train caught on fire during the reception, one of my uncles took off his jacket and extinguished the flames and did get some minor burns on his hands in the process. Now as the wedding coordinator at my church, we don’t allow candles except on the altar or anything to be thrown at the bride and groom, no paper streamers, no flower petals, no rice or bird seed. We do allow bubbles outside, but not indoors. All these items can pose a trip/slip/fall hazard which would not only ruin the day for the couple but also create a liability situation for the church.

If you are going to have candles, you can not have paper, hanging bows, or anything flammable around them anywhere near it and it's best to keep them off the floor. If an actual wedding planner put that together then there needs to be a change.
