Can I ask why you messed up your bond on I believe the 4th course of your pier with two little cuts in instead of going with a full brick?

Sorry if its a supid question but Is there any thing to be gained by putting in ties between the bricks like you would on block work , to tie the runs together a bit?

4:1 5:1 but the quality depend on the location of your sand quarries
