Hello guys, before anyone comments about the bond I am well aware that I made lots of mistakes here. Broken the rule of change of direction, change of bond also as it is not English bond I went for English garden wall bond and wanted the headers to run through every 2 courses. The rule in English garden Wall bond is odd numbers, every 3 or 5 course so I messed up. Learned lots and won’t make the same mistake twice. We are all human and the man that says he’s never made a mistake is liar or a hypocrite. Hope you enjoy this series of videos.

The only thing you've done wrong is confuse what "bond" actually means. It is not the aesthetic mortar pattern. It is the structural bond between the 2 wythes. The wall structural strength doesnt change between english, flemish, garden, american bonds. What does change is the structural strength via corner engagement, with flemish being weakest due to the queen closer providing no corner engagement in every second course. Strength is all about engagement. Do it well and mortar isnt necessary. In your single wythe wall you should have continued the stretcher bond to the corner. Doing fake header bond courses is always a mistake.

Hello! I often notice that if you put bricks outside in the ground, they are destroyed by rainfall, winter snow, frost. Every brick has freezing stages. And the lack of waterproofing shortens the lifespan of bricks.

Different bricks absord different amounts of moisture. Blues and engineering bricks are not very porous and they absorb very little moisture hence why these type of bricks are commonly used in footings or garden walls etc.

Question, why do so many online brickies always use a mixer with no stand? Ain’t it awkward fully emptying the gauge? And cleaning up is easier on a stand…I find anyway
