The group died with Carl. Al was really underrated as a singer but Carl had an angelic voice that few can match

yes Carl was the backbone of Beach Boys. Beautiful man is missed dearly. I wish he received more recognition when he was alive.

@@mwoods1052 Carl got plenty of recognition from me. But, he loved the 1970's sound so much that when he did that with his '80s solo albums they weren't favored by the 1980's kids. He did that same thing with The Beach Boys (1985) record. That was like his 3rd solo album in many ways. And Brian was on it. Then, Brian lost interest after 1986. In The Beach Boys, anyway. I was living in San Francisco in the 80s/'90s, so I got to see three of Carl's solo shows and hung with The Beach Boys live shows until Concord Pavilion in 1996. If only Carl would have agreed with making an album in 1996 with Brian and the boys... but he wouldn't. The Country record doesn't count. Carl continued to play live dates with the group but wouldn't share his new songs with them.

I feel so sad watching this with the hindsight knowledge of Carl's death. But damn, did he really pour his illuminated soul into his music right until the very end. Rest in Peace, Carl and Dennis.

@@jerrileegeorge7385 it was announced in the press and on stage from Mike love what Carl was going through with his cancer diagnosis. I was at one or two of those last tour shows and at one of the last shows Carl performed at in new jersey. I don't ever recall reading anything that said treatments hadn't worked and Carl was not going to make it. Carl was a very private person from what I understand so I would be surprised if any of that was ever put in the Press but I don't know for sure. I do remember reading in the paper the day after he passed and I was shocked because I thought he had been doing better

Carl WAS The Beach Boys, for me. When I went to see them in October '97, Mike came out & said he was too ill to appear. It was heartbreaking. it was also, THE worst concert, ever. Dave Marks showed up, & Phil Bardowell played, but no one could take Carl's place. That was at Thousand oaks Center. The group was out of tune., & clearly needed rehearsal time . -------------The chemo & radiation treatments made Carl retain weight, & that's why he looked so heavy. ---------------------RIP, Carl Wilson.-----------------------------Wolfsky9, 74 y/o

Wolf, you must be a big fan of what was The Beach Boys, as I am. If you are, or were a Wilson, my true belief! If you are, or were a Wilson cousin, may God have mercy on your soul! If you are a good friend of the Wilson boys, (Alan) Welcome aboard! For quite a few decades, The Beach Boys were my ABSOLUTE favourite band! Now, they are a third- rate "beach boys" cover/tribute band. Jan and Dean did better. Papa Doo Run Run STILL does better! I saw Brian, just a few days after I turned 64. (Will she still love me?) His band was performing with the band so good, they named Chicago after them. (Brian and Sir Paul were still only 79.) Phoenix, Ak Chin Pavilion. 7 June 2022. Yes, it was quite warm. But, after the Music started, I didn't care about the temperature. Well except for the Music temps. I was comfortable, but they were "Hot Hot Hot!" kzread.info/dash/bejne/fZuW1KygndCep5s.html&ab_channel=JackWagon steve

Where and when was this filmed? People have complained about the quality, but for the time (1997 I'm assuming), it looks and sounds quite good and is really poignant for the last footage of Carl Wilson performing.

@@99somerville Exactly the problem! Than PLEASE as Artist, don't do it! Phones were never really met to be used as Camcorders. If one is going to do Videos, than use a damn Camcorder. That's what they are made for. All the years that I have performed, I ask people, Please don't do videos of me wth your phones, my reputation is on the line and don't do artist justice. My Wife still to this day only records me and other Artist wth her Cam.
