BRIAN WILSON performs "Night Time" Live 1988
Музыка
One of Brian Wilson's few live performances to promote his first Solo Album in 1988 was on a short lived Dick Clark PRIME TIME Variety SHOW. As we have come to know & see, Brian has become far more comfortable performing live over the past 10 years of his solo career. But this was way before that & on top of that he was forces to perform "Night Time" standing up w/ mic in hand, And do strange Eugene Landy inspired choreography!

Y'know, he looks great here. I know it's not really the Brian we usually feel most comfortable with but he's brave, game, alive, out of bed, singin. Love ya, Brian.
Say what you want - this was great! He looks like he’s been performing like that for 20 years!

I love to imagine Ozzy Osbourne covered this one and make the same move 😅
Before Britney performed Gimme More on the VMA’s, we had this.

This video = Tears. WHY WAS LANDY SO FUCKING EVIL!?!
Wow Brian looks energetic here

not really haha i dont think his stage fright allows him to move energetic. one of the only times ive seen him energetic on camera is when he was running on the beach showing how he is working out in some 80s tv show.

Landy probably loaded him up before he went on
Its like a bear being poked with sticks and forced to dance for food
Some musicians claim that perform without their instruments it's just like being naked in front of the audience,Im sure he felt very unconfortable without his keyboard or his bass...Poor Brian :(

I feel the same way about Carl. There's a video of him performing his cover of What You Do To Me and he's the frontman with just a microphone and it looks so weird to see him without a guitar. Dennis and Mike are the only Beach Boys who ever really seemed comfortable as frontmen. Everybody else needed an instrument in my opinion.

So is that why Al doesn't put down the guitar even though it hasn't been plugged in since the 70's?
I’ve grown to like this song

Hello everybody, I am not sure that the people who say that « it is sad, » « poor Brian », « I can’t watch this » and everything know very much about depression..and extreme shyness... i can tell that it is a very POSITIVE moment when you can finally STAND UP and do your thing, perfectly or not, you just do it ...a while you would have never been able to do it. I am pretty sure that Brian Wilson s been proud he did it after all In a way regarding his fears ... it is a VICTORY -- I add that i like this song , I think that it is an effective and fresh one, fresh like a vivid comeback ... and of course ... « Rock’n roll » like a big part of the life of this genius Best to all romain
Great underrated song,,,love and mercy was great live as well in 1988

I really like the song. On a video of a performance on Letterman, someone said it was the worst Brian Wilson song they'd ever heard. I haven't heard every song of his, but if that's the worst one, he's even more of a genius than I thought.
Since Brian and Ozzy Osbourne have a similar voice in 80s era. It easily imagine if Ozzy sing this one and doing movement like Brian did. Would be funny as hell 😆
excellent - one of my favorite tracks on his first solo album which initially his label (Sire Records / Reprise Records / Warner Bros.) didn't want to put out deemed "uncommercial" - well, Brian rocks in my book and he always delivered goods - commercial or not plus he shifted a few units over the years ; )
brian i love you so much
I imagine Brian is doing Dr Landy's moves better than Landy could of done, haha. Still, it's great to see Brian perform.
One time I saw clip in KZread (That gone for long long time) it's another Night Time live performance that he performed after Love and Mercy. It's scarier than this one.

Yes.
It’s amazing to see him like this. Landy did a great job - but he went overboard.
He's better now.
Good work Doct. Landy....ahahahahha
looks a bit unnatural for brian not to be behind a piano, and he seems a bit uneasy with it all. Having said that, he looks in good shape, out of bed, shed some pounds, shaved off the beard and got a hair cut...great. did this song chart?
poor Brian
Misheard Lyrics 0:37 Will you be wedding death. In a cruel light of twilight aids. Just kidding :) 1:12 Love his dance. Wouldn't it be nice if Brian performed "Smart Girls" live and dancing like this.
@ar4216 type into your youtube search: John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd take Brian Wilson Surfing 1976 He was scared to go into the water but Landy wrote on a piece of paper "you will not die" and Brian kept it in his robe pocket until they were done.
If that was an X factor audition he wouldn't have got through. Sadly this was Brian at his worst. He was absolutely drugged up in the late 80's by Dr Landy.

The rock bottom period for Brian was 1981/1982. He is physically healthy in this video. Just brainwashed.

@@marcusbradley6207 he wasnt even physically healthy. he was being starved by landy and put on very strong (and often not appropriate) medication.

@@marcusbradley6207 he was drugged on neuroleptics here which have much worse long term side effects. Thats where the lisp/slur is coming from
If you didnt know who Brian was he just looked like some random (though admittedly quite handsome) middle aged guy without real talent trying unsuccessfully to get into the show business.
@dudleyserious Actually, I think he does quite well and look great. However, it was not a good song choice. Although a great song/recording from his first solo LP, there is not enough of a strong melody line in and of itself to win over the listnere. He did this song on Lettermen as well, and I think it was better, as he wasn't doing essentially, karaoke. Eugene Landy had control over BW during this period.
So sad
brilliant track, God Bless Dr. Landy!

I Can't Watch This
Poor Brian :(
ok his vocals aren’t exactly great and sure he looks uncomfortable, but all things considered I like the song. I don’t know how this could possibly be his worst song ever
Yikes🤦
Smells like ‘Landy’ spirit to me!!! So hard to watch. Brian looks like he’s ready to jump off the stage; due to an acute anxiety attack! Unbelievable how this man’s medical condition was so mismanaged!
Poor Brian, this is really painful to watch :(
Surely they had a rehearsal for this...why in god's name didn't they pull the plug on this performance? Just give the man a guitar and let him stand behind a mic. This is just unbearable to look at.
Thankfully it’s night time permanently for Landy. This is atrocious
yeeeeeet, this ain’t it bri
