Музыка

Brian Setzer's new album, 'The Devil Always Collects' is available now!
Order/listen: lnk.to/BrianSetzer
Tickets & Info: briansetzer.com/tour-dates
Creative sparks and killer riffs are flying everywhere on Brian Setzer’s new album 'The Devil Always Collects' out now via Surfdog Records. The 3-time Grammy award-winner’s guitar work is virtuosic and blazing on these 11 tracks, and his vocals deliver the clever storylines of catchy songs like “The Devil Always Collects,” “Girl On The Billboard,” “Black Leather Jacket” and “Rock Boys Rock.” Add in non-stop breakneck rhythms, and you have an album-produced by Brian Setzer and Julian Raymond and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge-that stands with Setzer's best. It’s always been Brian’s special talent to inject the roots of rock with a contemporary freshness that unites fans of Rock, Americana, Rockabilly, and Punk.
Look for Brian to hit the road in the U.S. starting September 27 on his “ROCKABILLY RIOT” tour, marking his first live shows in over four years.

Damned right, and he had that talent when he was 20, when the Cats started out here in the U.K. There was already a Rockabilly scene, as was punk, mod, skinhead/ska, Psychobilly, but you'd get all types at a Stray Cats gig, lots of Clash fans too.Good times, when it wasn't all baseball hats and tracksuits.

Mr Brain is currently the best and most famous Rockabilly star! I've been a Stray Cats fan for a long time! Without Brain Setzer, Rockabilly would never have caught on! Thank you Mr. Brain that I was able to witness the wild years of my youth! At the age of 14 I was already a Rock 'n Roll guy in a Marlon Brando Jacket and Chuck Taylor All Star (Shoes)... today I'm 55 years old and I've still remained faithful! Greeting from Germany :)

Well there was already a Rockabilly scene in England, that's why they came to London to start their career, there was already an audience, but the Cats were in a different league, just from Brian's incredible playing , Evan at 20/21, the look was like the Clash with bigger quiffs, he has a great voice, he definitely put Gretsch back in fashion, as Paul Weller had done with Rickenbacker. Great energy, great gigs, and still doing it.

Been a fan since they launched their career here in England on Top of the Pops. Adam and the Ants made their first appearance on the same show with Dog Eat Dog, which had an old Rock n Roll sound to it. But Brian's guitar playing on that lovely '59 orange Gretsch 6120. I still can't play like Mr Setzer, but I definitely play with that sound, twang with a bit of a growl and slap back echo. Was at the Rumble in Brixton gig, which had such an energy to it. One of my all time fave gigs was on the Ignition tour 2001, great album, great show at Shepherds Bush.

MUCH respect and thanks for the pre-COVID Treasure Island gig with the Stray Cats, so good! Opener band was fire too - wish I recalled their name!

The most underrated guitar player ever. Nobody has been more active, and commercially successful without getting his due props among the guitar aficionados. He's too successful to be named with Robben Ford and Tommy Emmanuel, and not successful enough to be named with Slash or Jimmy Page. He made a hit with a dead form of music, and another with a 40 year old cover. All his songs and song choices are played to a very entertained crowd, even if it's at Woodstock in the 90's and the kids never heard of him before.

The only people who would "ignore/dismiss/underrate" Brian Setzer as one of the all-time greats, are those who know nothing about great guitar playing & cool music anyway. But I do dig what you're saying my friend, and I'm with ya on all other counts. Because Brian Setzer is an absolute monster on the guitar.

Interesting comment. I don’t think I’ve EVER seen someone equally compare, and put the two names of Slash & Jimmy Page in the same sentence! Slash is second rate guitarist, who’s still stuck in the minor pentatonic scale! He’s just famous because he’s PART of a famous group! While Jimmy Page is an entirely different level, the man is a genius and an innovative, master guitarist. No one, I repeat no one that knows anything about guitar, could compare the two as equals! 🙄🙄 As far as Brian Setzer goes, he’s a phenomenal guitarist, most certainly equal in my opinion to any Rock a billy guitar great. Cliff Gallup etc.. But the thing about Brian is, he’s an entertainer! Not just a simple guitar player who shreds till your eyeballs melt! Brian sings, plays, conducted orchestra, a true entertainer. These other guitarists are PART of popular groups. Brian IS the group! People go to see him, to be entertained. That’s a HUGE difference than just being an even great guitarist in a group. Brian’s been my personal favorite for decades, and has been a major influence on my playing. But what MANY people miss IMO, Brian may not be the most famous guitarist, or “best”, “most technical” guitarists, which is a title that can’t be given to anyone, because if the many styles of playing and variables. ie. Some classical guitarists are incredible, many Flamenco guitarists are fantastic, Gypsy style, jazz, and many of these styles cannot be easily compared to determine a “best” all round guitarist. Impossible. Brian IS the RockaBilly King! And I love his style and playing ability. PS. If you want to hear Slash play in comparison to Brian, there’s a video on KZread where Brian gets on stage and plays with Slash. Look it up and watch. That will give you a clear idea of the differences and talents of both in playing.

Exactly. That's what I said. The only people who would "underrate" Setzer as a guitar virtuoso are those who are utterly clueless about guitar, and cool, timeless music in general. Nearly every guitarist worth their salt knows damn good & well that Setzer is an absolute MONSTER on guitar. Also: Rockabilly is one of the hardest guitar styles to get right. It's very tricky.........yet SO classy at the same time. @@ParaBellum2024
