It’s amazing to think she was only in it for three years when some of the regulars were there for 30! I think Anita was probably reluctant to ever return because she was worried Angie wouldn’t have a purpose in Albert Square without Den. Maybe she was perceptive about that.

She was absolutely the star that made EastEnders work, she was the character with frailty but someone everyone could be empathetic with. Absolutely the best character that EastEnders created!

Anita is the reason the show was successful in the first place. When she got together with Brian May, she didn't have to work anymore... guess what? That's a choice many women make.

I think the reason they refer to her as Brian May's wife is because, East Enders was not a soap opera that was shown around the world. I never watched it and don't live in England. I and a lot of people only know who she is because she's married to Brian May.
