Loved Brian Clough, he had his weaknesses like the rest of us but you cannot deny the mans achievements in football. It will never be repeated❤️

He wouldn't have even qualified in Clough's day because for all people talking about how great the Champions League is you can get into it by only finishing fourth in the league. Fergie was a good manager but it took him something like eight years to win a league, he never retained the European Cup/Champions League and he needed a hell of a lot of money and backing to do it. His exploits at Aberdeen are worthy of far more praise to be honest, but he would never have been able to achieve what Clough did at Forest - promotion, league, two European Cups, all in succession.

Not in this clip he isn't. Slurred speech, raised voice, pointing, talking over people. He was on the slippery slope by this stage.

What have Sugar and Trump got in common besides 'Apprentice'? They made most of their money from property speculation. That's it, no mystery. Property speculation is the easiest of all bets. But, you need starting capital. Business acumen? Not really required.

Compared to other clips of Mr Clough where he is sharp, witty and in control, I think this is one of the sadder incidences where alcohol had begun to take its toll. Legend of the game, always held in such high regard. RIP

To some extent, yes. I think particularly a couple of the pieces from the beginning where he was shouting a bit. However, as it went on we saw a little more of the wit we associated with Brian. He was a lot older at this point and a recovering alcoholic so all things considered he didn't do too badly.

The majority of the country have been drunk on the lies, propaganda and hate that Murdoch has fed them for generations. Cloughie was sober enough to see through Murdoch and the British media. No bad for a drunk man eh.

I can honestly say in all my years (57) I've not come across anyone who disliked Brian Clough.............to take Forest from division two and win 2 European Cups is incredible!

He was 60 here 2 years after he retired. It's a shame he went relatively young. A great manager who was never quite the same after he split with Peter Taylor.

True. Although he did build a brilliant side in the late 80s too. They were a top 5 side from 1977 to 1992 and and they were a top 5 side on a par with Spurs and Man Utd in terms of overall points scored in the league. Not surprising that Taylor wanted to prove himself as a manager, since he was always going to be in Clough’s shadow at Forest.

Rip legends not a lot people know how good of a goal scorer brian clough was before his injury obviously in that panel jimmy greavsie is the greatest goal scorer this country has produced RIP icon of football saint and greavsie best football show ever.

Brian was stunningly clever, and so so special. Nobody since has come close to him, NOBODY, not even close.

Loved watching Brian Clough when he was on TV he made me laugh also spoke the truth

This is so sad 😞

A true Yorkshire man, takes no shit and says it how it is, very few left these days and it was a huge loss in many ways when Brian went. R.I.P. Brian

Mr Clough shouild have been england manager at the time ,and if so we would not have been in the shite situation we are today his style of coaching was spot on !!!!

lol no doubt. I'm just really learning more about him and what I have came around to thinking of a coach close to Clough, its Bob Knight ( not sure you know who he is, sure you do if you are American)

Clough often gets tarred as a rambling alcoholic due to his personal decline into alcoholism and poor results in his latter years. People nowadays often overlook how much of a genius the man was. He was an incredibly articulate, bright, sharp tool of the game. Took no shit, but moved mountains - much like Bill Shankly. Same aura, similar charisma. Look at where Derby County and Nottingham Forest were when he took charge and look where they ended up under him - and with, let's face it, pretty unfashionable playing squads when you compare them to the classic Man United and Liverpool squads.

At his worst, he still had the good sense to rely on his natural warmth, charm and humour and he didn't need to run rings around him. People just ended up agreeing with him.

Absolutely brilliant . never to be seen again ..

Great seeing Saint and Greavsíe with Brian Clough. They all entertained us for many years and gave us many great memories. Saint and Greavsie are both suffering pretty poor health now, which is sad to witness.

Brian Clough was part of a great management partnership with Peter Taylor. Without Taylor, Clough wasn't the same manager. His short stint at Leeds proved that. Taylor should get the same credit as Clough....

Now then, look at young Darren Fletcher here asking about Notts County :) hehe Loved Cloughie, he spoilt us down at Forest and its never been the same since, A god in our house

Yeah, and Clough could bang in a goal or two in his playing days as well. I would've liked to have seen Clough & Greavsie play together more for England back in the '60s.

I have this episode on tape from its original transmission. Cloughie was the star of the show here.

I remember this very well .Shouting "Sugar is a SPIV" I thought he was going to burst into tears. He was entertaining but VERY RIGHT maybe if it wasn't for the drink he could have been more successful for a few more years

I remember watching this at the time and Brian Clough was so honest and upfront! some people say he was pissed as a fart!!

If anyone, you'd take Shankley out because as much as he may have created the new LFC, he didn't win anywhere near as much as Paisley. Robson was a good coach and like Clough, transformed a smallish provincial team into a bloody good side (albeit they got carved up for sale as soon as he left for England). Though he didn't win as much as BC.

Bring this show back, it would be a big hit, loads of interesting sports topics to cover. Bring back Saint and Greavsie.
