if all other punks are dirty slobs living in filth than the most punk rock thing to do is be the opposite. Punk has become a poser scene with costumes purchased at Hot Topic. Real punk is a “fuck you, I’ll do what I want” attitude.

He was also a ”pre tour guitar player” for REM, but got the call from Bad Religion just before the Monster tour. Went with that instead since they wanted him as a full member of the band, not just an ”extra”. As Brian himself put it: ”That's me in the corner, choosing Bad Religion."

I remember when I was 12 years old back in '95, my friends bro came home from uni the one holiday and had a whole bunch of new MP3s. Back in those days, MP3 was a new concept and was like gold. If you could download just one and share it with your friends you were the man. (I live in South Africa) Anyway among the REM, Live and Green day in that list of MP3s, was an album from a band that was untitled. I remember clicking and listening to one of their songs called 'Infected'. There was just something about this band that felt 'different' from all the other pop alternative rock I had heard. They were on another level and I was drawn to their honest, raw and aggressive sound. A few years went by and I never knew who this band was until I was finishing up high school and a fellow punk (my best friend to this day) played me Recipe for Hate album he had on tape. I immediately recognized the lead vocalist. It was like an epiphany for me cause at the tender age of 12 I was so drawn to this genre but didn't even know what punk rock was.

I spent an afternoon with him when The Meatmen played a club where I worked. He's a great player and a funny sumbitch. Also, I've poached a bunch of his riffs over the years--sometimes deliberately, but usually I realize it when someone says, "That sounds a bit like _____. Have you ever heard it?"

Saw this dude, while rocking out front row at the Trocadaro in Philly somewhere around 94. I couldn't stop watching him shred. So much noise and energy was coming out of his guitar with seemingly such little effort, Shit was epic Also dag nasty is under rated af

Love this. Dag Nasty was so amazing. I got to see Brian’s first tour with Bad Religion and I remember joking with a friend that he was doing punk rock penance for being in junkyard. Lol

Brian is the reason that I stopped learning AC/DC riffs and moved on to Minor Threat and Dag Nasty. I could watch a Million Days of this. Sorry that was really bad...

Brian Baker has excellent taste in rock riffage. I feel very akin to his selections.

Love Brian. Happy to hear a good amount of string/fret buzz so I don't feel so bad about one of my guitars.
