    @@VVheeli I used to have a 60 card Sultai Maralen deck that forced you to search (theres a few search cards that don't have the 'may' clause) i'd get Ob Nixilis Unshackled into play, then force people to search for a land, Ob would trigger, then when Maralen's ability occurred i'd go and get a counterspell to stop whatever they tutored for 😁. The deck was janky as hell but the looks on their faces when they realised they couldn't just decline to search, that they were going to lose 3 from Maralen, 10 from Ob, lose their blocker and die to Ob in combat was priceless. Seeing as the deck ran Collective Voyage I also included a Mind Grind. Oh what's that? Everyone just went and got 10 lands? Cool. Mind Grind for 15 lands. Better hope you have enough left hun! 😈🤷‍♀️😆

    It was! Reminds me if one of the most 'big brain' plays i've ever seen in a game. Neheb the Eternal deck got like a thousand mana and tried to fireball a Kess player using a Boseiju to force the damage through. In response the Kess player cast a Shaman's Trance and cast the Neheb player's own Wild Ricochet from their graveyard, killed the other player with the copy and rebounded the original back at the Neheb to win the game lmao. When playing against Blue, you've got to trick the Blue players into wasting their counters on things you don't care so much about and slipping important things through. Secondly, without Blue nothing would stop combo decks from going off so it's hardly "near pointless".

This triggers Sam’s Rhystic and he draws from this. During Brandon’s first Main Phase, he casts a Time Spiral and Sam draws from Rhystic again, hits a Force of Will, and counters the Spiral. If I’m not missing anything, shouldn’t Narset’s ability have prevented the second Rhystic draw this turn, thus preventing Sam from drawing the Force of Will and playing it?

    How did the Urza player get the mystical tutor back off of narset reversul? Because he was kess' flashback ability. Wouldn't of been exaled

  • @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    Kess’s ability states that if it would be put into the grave yard this turn, exile it instead. Reversal puts it back into your hand. If you cast it again from your hand, it’s a different instance of that spell with no previous attachments or clauses. He won’t have to exile it.

    but why did he use the pact of negation on the red elemental blast if the opponent had the creatures on the field to destroy narset? it was a wasted counter that could have been saved for later, narset was dead anyway.

    How can Brandon have "Scalding Tarn" in his deck - is it not blue and red? is it because it is a fetch land and doesn't tap for either of those colors? I'm new to the format.

  • @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    4 жыл бұрын

    No worries! Welcome! So basically a color identity is assigned via the pips (the mana icons) in either the casting cost or on the card text. References to things like land types don't count towards a color identity. So you can have fetchlands in your deck because lands are colorless and don't have mana pips. Good question! Welcome!

    11:30 I don't think Andrew really had to pay for Rhystic since Sam already drew a card from Dack that turn; since Narset was on the field Sam wouldn't have been allowed to draw anyway if I'm looking at this right

    So wait... you can have Scalding Tarn in a Mono Blue EDH?

  • @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    4 жыл бұрын

    You can! Since lands don't have a color (and therefore a color identity), you can have fetchlands in mono-colored decks. The only thing that counts towards a color identity in commander are the pips (mana symbols) in mana costs and activated abilities. Any mentions of things like forest or mountain, etc. don't count towards color identity.

    Why do people always cast mana crypt on a turn when they don't use it? Especially when there's no threat of discard. 3 damage isn't much, but why even risk it?

  • @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    @PlayingWithPowerMTG

    4 жыл бұрын

    Because there is always a threat of discard in CEDH. At any time, someone can put 3 mana together and cast timetwister/Windfall/Wheel of Fortune. Then you've lost your mana crypt. The trade off of protecting your mana crypt from being discarded being only 3 damage if you (maybe) lose on your upkeep. It's worth the trade.
