    Great video. Fermenting in my F80 for first ime. What pump you are using here for cleaning? Whats charactestics? head in meters? liter per minute? also what is your sanitizing process or maybe you have a video about that too :) ? thanks!

    I'm wondering if you're still cleaning it the same way? One thing I like to do is to push PBW through one of the aux ports (I have a butterfly valve on it, I push in the wort when brewing as well) with my pump instead of pouring it, as I do not like the idea of spilling hot PBW all over myself.

    For another digital thermometer with a very long wire i like to keep on top of the tank for when the temp controller is not visible. Nice to have the temp easy to see. Also nice to have others just in case stuff starts to get weird. Ive had 2 Ss Brewtech controllers die on me in the past so nice to have a reference point along with the tilt. I hop they release a non-digital thermometer soon

    How do you release the pressure of the unitank? I've seen you do not have a hand pull prv?

  • @MasteringHomebrew

    @MasteringHomebrew

    Im releasing it through the sampling valve. I do have a hand pull on the spunding valve but its easier to just open the sampling valve and walk away for a few minutes instead of holding it open.

    How do you clean the ports? I see you removed all the connections and there’s yeast in all of them. How do you clean those bits?

  • @MasteringHomebrew

    @MasteringHomebrew

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yeah there was yeast trapped under the heating element and the carb stone. I just took a small dish towel and cleaned it manually with a small cup of PBW and sprayed some sanitizer through. The CIP doesn’t hit the shadow areas unfortunately. Easy enough to clean but slightly annoying.

    @@AndrewLynch9 I think the extra ports are worth the extra work. If I was a commercial brewer then I think maybe that wouldn’t be so worth it on a busy day in a production facility if i had more than 3 or 4 tanks. I dunno im not in that situation so not sure if its even something that would be a problem

    @@MasteringHomebrew I remove all fittings after a preliminary clean with water then do the soak. During the soaking I then clean all ports. Then remount all the bits and then complete the clean + a santising loop.

    Question: how do you strip all the glycol from the fv? Like... Tipping it over to the side?

  • @MasteringHomebrew

    @MasteringHomebrew

    2 жыл бұрын

    I dont remove the glycol in between cleanings. I just keep it in the tank during cleaning. If you want to remove it just plug in a hose to the bottom side glycol port/QD and remove the top glycol tri clamp port to vent it. It will all drain out with gravity. The last little bit may need to be tipped out a little bit.

    No final acid rinse, or you do that just before fermenting the next beer?

  • @MasteringHomebrew

    @MasteringHomebrew

    2 жыл бұрын

    I let whatever i cant reach with a towel air dry then ill do it before the next brew. Im lucky in that i dont have a quick build up of beer stone so i do a strong acid bath on the fermenters once or twice a year or so. The water here is pretty soft so as long as i rinse really well the PBW and water dont create the calcium oxalate residues quite as fast. Depends on how its looking though. But yes normally gets the acid the day before brewday or morning of.
