Very interesting indeed! I just recently made a black tea from your collection,shared it with my mom,she is 77 years old. She claimed that she couldn’t sleep for 2 days! I reassured her that the tea was certainly to blame for night number one,but night number two is somehow her fault😂 No tea affects someone for 2 days!!

I love that you did this demonstration. I’ve found similar results when brewing tea bags. However, there are two primary challenges with tea bags. One I taste the bag, sometimes adhesive that holds the bag and often the box. These “contaminants” are off putting. Two the CTC method only lends its self to consistency and efficiency which you pointed out. But it’s weak on brewing as it dumps its character quickly and has no duration. It also has poor, on average, mouth feel, finish & body feel. But you can get a “drinkable” infusion. However, apart from tea parameters there is another concept with tea bags that challenges me. It the desire to produce the most tea with the least cost. This concept leads to exploitation. I feel the chemical inputs damage the land. I feel this idea leads to marginalizing people as they are just another lower skilled “resource”. The whole CTC process treats every input as one dimensional and you get a one dimensional product and negative impacts on the resources.

You can apply this concept of quantity over quality to society writ large, tbh… most products and services, and it exposes the ugly truth that as humans most of us just don’t care enough. Got cheap caffeine (even though it tastes crappy), get squeezed by bosses, spend on fast (cheap) fashion… etc. I mean, I don’t deny that one-dimensional products serve an important function, but when compared to places that care e.g. the Japanese with their food/ job professionalism, it really makes you hope for more places to be like so
