My girlfriend of 3 yrs decided I wasn't good enough for her and ended it. Although she told me she loved me, I didn't really feel it. I work at an airport and saw a lady standing in the terminal all by herself. She stood there and watched a plane fly away until it was nothing but a tiny black dot in the sky. She was waving at the plane even though it was miles away. She was the only person in the whole terminal. She turned around and was sobbing. I asked her if she was ok. She said that her husband was on that flight and that he was only going to be gone for 3 days. That's the kind of love I'm looking for and want to give. Have Mercy!

Good luck. It is amazing what women get away with in relationships.....almost always it is the man who is made to be the problem. Funny how we have a word in our language for men who hate women (misogynist) but no word for women who hate men. Yet, there is no shortage of women who hate men, but to have a word for that apparently would be politically incorrect. I have grown old enough where the PC people can kiss my ass. I put up with an enormous amount of bullshit from my ex wife. She thought it was her right to be a total bitch during her menses. She thought it was ok to be the boss in terms of running our family, since she was a feminist. She was wrong, and she was a complete asshole. Like so many women like her, she is now growing old alone, as no man is willing to put up with her shit. Keep it up girls.....eventually we men will get so tired of your bullshit that our species will cease to exist.....i could care less.

These days it's only become a platform for people to think it's ok to mistreat us, to them men are the same unless they bend to what they say. My ex wife literally raped another woman, and acted like I am the evil one because I left her for it.... She was also a "Feminist"

I cry every time I hear this song.... My wife left me for someone else.... The pain was unbearable... The depression was intense... I don't think I cry because of the breakup, I'm over that, but the memory of the pain I went through is still so hard to deal with.... I still see her and talk to her because we have children together so I can't totally walk away...... But, I'm better now and I'll keep my kids close and my broken heart open

It's pretty tough Since the economy has gone completely crazy my job just doesn't quite pay enough for me to get by so at this time I'm living in a motel room and paying weekly rent.... My family has tried to help me as much as they could... The winter is getting ready to settle in and that is when my depression really reaches its peak.... I guess I just have to get my big boy pants out and put them on and work harder at restarting... Thank you very much for your kind words, it reminds me that there are people out there that still care in this world..... I'll say a little prayer for you tonight :-)

K Andreas I sympathize...TIME in a relationship does not necessarily mean “love” is there....it can become a habit after awhile...while other times TIME makes love sweeter, especially if you have spent lots of time apart. If she’s walking away...after all that time, there is something not worked out between the two of you...something is missing or wrong. Try communicating & thinking about what this might be.

Man, this dude sang the hell outta this song. The lyrics are so powerful. But this song only comes to life because of the manner, in which the artist delivered the message. Another artist probably wouldn’t be able to convey what this song is truly about. Which is falling in love, heartbreak and ultimately finding the courage to move on. Something we all can unfortunately relate to.

This song reminds me of a time about a decade ago after me and my high school sweetheart broke up, and we were in that weird limbo where we were not together but spent a lot of time together. She was seeing someone else and it felt like she was stringing me along. I remember saying “just break my heart so I can move on with my life. Or choose me for good.” I wasn’t strong enough to walk away. I needed her to make the move, either way. This song hits that feeling on the head. Now I’m married almost 8 years with 2 kids and have never been happier, so that feeling is just a distant memory. But it’s good to feel that pain again sometimes because it reminds you you are human. Even if it just an echo of a time long past.

This song was one that my husband played for me along with Lady in January after we had an argument. He passed away unexpectedly in Feb. We were married for 15 years and have 4 kids together, our gifts from God. Even though they are still painful to hear I am so incredibly thankful for these songs! Sometimes the Mercy is the walking away...or the letting go... In my case, the Mercy was on his end. We were married. We had vowed to love, honor and cherish each other "til death us do part". I took those vows seriously...He did not. He was controlling, manipulative, a womanizer and (even sometimes) physically abusive. But...I loved him and believed with all my heart that people could change. But when I realized how toxic his "love" was to me...I begged to be released. He denied letting me go (3 times) and each time I would leave, he would call me (apologizing and in tears) and I would go back. He promised to change, to get help and swore he would never do it again...In the end...his Mercy was letting me go. Now, every day, I am thankful that he found it in his heart to just set me free.

Patricia King... your story is almost identical to mine. I broke up with her three times and she kept coming back and saying she would work on things but then she'd slip right back into lying, manipulation and finally when she found someone else she released me. It hurt for months but with time these wounds will heal. I'm grateful to be free.

Patricia King .... I totally understand.. I just let go after 20 years! I was in the same exact relationship as you, only to find out he was seeing someone else. I just couldn't do it anymore.

I'm going through something very similar to this, so reading it brought me to tears. In my case though, my man hasn't shown me MERCY by letting me go. It's is just so hard not to go back when you love him so much and want more than anything, for him to be telling the truth when he says he'll get help and change. I know I deserve to be treated better but can't seem to be set free of him. It's really, really hard. :(
