This was a legitimately great review. Thank you, Pre Malone. Would love a close up whenever you get your hands on the bronze!

Thank you! Did you just call me Pre Malone? 😅 The bronze does look great especially with that brown dial!
Bought mine -42mm blue and wear it more than my Rolex. It’s not too heavy and love the look and esp the micro adjustment.

I've got the Superocean 42 on the bracelet and it is really comfortable thanks to the micro-adjustment clasp and the perfect finish.

Thanks for the great roundup. I’m a fan of bigger watches and I’m happy to see Breitling offering wearable 44mm sizes for smaller wrists. I’m definitely going to check these out in person. The price rise over the outgoing model is very disappointing though!

They look great don’t they!? And the Navitimer as well!
Will patiently wait for a Turquoise version in 42mm.
Have a 44mm SuperOcean in green coming in. It’s nice to switch up from a Submariner. Yes it’s not the same and I don’t think there is any way to confuse the two, but it’s nice to have variety and good quality.
I love the superocean. Specifically the Tiffany 44mm and the Kelly slater 42mm. Great job by Breitling.

Breitling is really changing for the better!
I was not overly impressed at first when I saw the photos, but I tried the blue 42 on bracelet and green 44 on rubber strap at the AD last weekend. I was shockingly impressed. I wish the movement had a longer power reserve as mentioned, because it competes with the likes of the Pelagos and others at the price point, plus the Seamaster 300M at a little bit more money. However, the build quality/finishing, quick adjust bracelet, and overall in person aesthetics make a strong case for the Breitling. It really has great wrist presence. Being COSC certified also does help, as I feel accuracy is more important than power reserve. I would not even consider a non-COSC watch at the price point. I think the blue 42 on bracelet is my favorite, but there are many I would gladly only if money were no object.

Honestly, the COSC certificate is just another way of asking for more money. Almost any ETA movement can be regulated to such degree, it's just that lower grades are not adjusted in as many positions. Breitling could just sell the top grade ETA and save you 500 bucks by not submitting it for certification but I get that the company needs to have a selling point. The watch itself looks good, it's a bold and non-derivative design. Initially I didn't like it but it has grown on me.
I’ve just purchased the 46mm in black and looks stunning, I couldn’t decide which strap to go for because the watch looks great on both the bracelet and the rubber so purchased both. A massive shout out to the Breitling boutique in york, UK who offer first class customer service.

i have a question. if you get bracelet version, can you buy the rubber from breitling and put the buckle / clasp from bracelet to the rubber strap?
@TheWatchScientists
Жыл бұрын
I don’t see why that wouldn’t be possible. If you can buy just the rubber of the strap without the clasp it should be easy to remove the clasp from the bracelet and put it on the rubber. It looks like the metal and rubber bracelet use the same clasp

Breitling beat Whoalex with a Selita SW 200 Movement?
I’m trying to choose my first watch what would be ur recommendation the super ocean 42mm black rubber strap or the omega Seamaster 300m black
@TheWatchScientists

We can’t make the decision for you. What I can say is that the movement of the Seamaster is superior to that of the Breitling if that’s something you care about. With both you don’t need to worry about accuracy tho. The rest is more a matter of taste in design, depends what you’re into. I guess the Breitling is more unique in its design for sure.
@baze3SC
Жыл бұрын
Jarone, it depends on which parameters you consider important. Seamaster's movement is arguably better if you're a tech buff. It features co-axial escapement, better power reserve and free-sprung balance combined with anti-magnetic silicon hairspring. However it also means that only Omega can service your watch. Authorized service costs are non-trivial. For instance silicon is a very brittle material and independent watchmakers don't have access to spare parts. Superocean IMO looks cooler and is more wearable. It will be serviceable for cheap later down the line but it won't hold its value to the same extent if you ever plan to sell. So, I would make the decision based on your intention to sell. If you just want to keep the watch and wear it, buy the one you like more. If you plan to sell at some point, Seamaster might be the better option. It's like with cars. Some people like comparing engines, some people consider also looks, overall ergonomy, cost of ownership, resale value etc.

Buy a SEAMASTER. It’s iconic
I think Breitling hit a home run with this one. A bit pricey but nonetheless beautiful. I would buy black on rose gold.

They look great BUT $4 to $5k for third part movement. That’s a stretch. But they do look great.
coolest diver I have seen in a long time... Omega seriously need to up their game with a new Seamaster... that is getting very boring and old fashioned now.
@baze3SC

I think they can't. That's the main problem with classic models. The brands are scared to touch them and only do minor tweaks. Breitling doesn't have the same problem with the exception of the Navitimer.

I think their 38 hour power reserve is too ambitious. They should have cut it down to an 8 hour power reserve 😉

I'm sorry but it looks like my kid put this dial together. To me, it seems like a half-assed effort. Breitling are known for their loud dials with the winged logo and I don't know where the Breitling DNA got lost with this release.
@TheWatchScientists
9 ай бұрын
The logo constantly changed especially on the Navitimers. A lot of Breitling DNA is in this as it is literally inspired by a vintage reference. I actually like the design a lot as it is very different to other dive watches but that is subjective.
With all due respect, you don’t have to include Rolex in your titles to manipulate the algorithm. There is nothing about this watch that stands up to a Rolex. That being said, I like the Breitling and am considering purchasing one. But it ain’t no Rolex.

I agree with you, but in my oppinion this kind of micro adjustment in the clasp is more comfortable in real life then the glidelock system. It is just one thing of course…

Agree; Rolex is for status seekers. Breitling makes quality watches that actually look nice. Most of Rolex’s lineup are gawdy outdated designs laden with gold & other blingy crud.
