Great video Chris. I would wish you luck with the Zebs but we both know they're like rabbits when they start 😂 .. Finally decided to give my penguin Zebs a nest so let's see what happens. Hope you and the family have a good festive season mate 👍

you got some nice zebrafinches, i keep them for 14 years now. the mutations are hard to learn so i would recommend to use zebracalc thats an app where you can put in the mutations and it will calculate the young of the combination. you were a bit off with your mutations. the first pair looks like a orange breasted black breasted isabel fawn x a normal isabel fawn (likely to be a split since it came from the same breeder) the second pair is a orange breasted black breasted grey x isabel grey (possible full or split orange breasted or black breasted difficult to see in the video, if the tail has stripes in the length of the tail its a black breasted if it has checkers or it its inbetween ist probably split for blackbreasted), the third pair is orange black breasted fawn x black breasted grey and in the aviary you have a blackbreasted grey male, a blackface isabel fawn split blackbreasted possibly also split orange breasted (you need to have the blackface to have their head fully coverd in orange like you mentioned at the first cage, and then the females are a chestnut flacked white and a lightback grey. but i would recommend to check the zebracalc app to see what young you could get when you combine the birds. if you just start combining stuff you will often end up with alot of grey split birds because grey is the normal colour. good luck with breeding and i hope to see some nice young

Hubby has six pairs of wild caught Zebra Finches, that he hopes will nest for him... I am not a Zebra lover, but some of them are pretty cute... I think it is their aggressive nature that puts me off... Cheers for Sharing Chris.. always informative... x

The first pair are a phao OB, phao are crosses from Florida Fancies and black breasted. The result will be a white or silver bird. The first pair is a a white. The female from the second is the silver variety, the third pair are orange breasted or black breasted the hen may be OB too it hard to tell sometimes. On a OB hen you will see traces of orange in the back feathers. Should be a great cross though.

Hi! Did you ever explain in a video how you catch them, to move them from the colony into cages? I watched some of your videos, but then I didn't question this. Also there are some that do not feed their chicks, after leaving the nest. And nobody adopts them and they stubbornly do not open their beaks, so that I handfeed them! My heart aches for each death, though now I have over 100. Do you have a solution for this? It is like they all decide whom not to feed, at a certain age. Good luck with your beauties!
