Dexter you've done it. You have inspired me to take the jump. A few weeks back i bought a Koi female. i have a king male that i have had for about 3 months. he has made more bubble nests than any previous betta ive had. They are now being fed brine shrimp and daphnia (hard to keep misquitoes where i am). I am hoping the female will be egg bearing soon, she seems to be getting slightly larger in the belly area. just waiting for the egg spot to appear. There are 2 issues that i have not encountered but think may happen. one, i got them from a LFS so i am hoping they arent genetically ruined from inbreeding. and two, i hope the size of my king does not spooky my female. I spent a long time picking him out and he has some very very good genes so it seems. My end goal is a king koi male. Wish me luck master dexter! (ps i wont be doing this for another few weeks so if anyone has experience breeding kings any tips are nice!)

It;s Indian almond tree bro and the brown coloration it produce is its tanin and it resemble the natural water habitat of the betta fish in the wild that is why they are stimulated to breed since the tanin of the Indian almond leaves mimic its natural habitat since bettas in the wild leaves in a densely planted area and the water is murky and darken with tanins from the rotten vegetations

Correct! These are brown water fish that prefer standing murky water in small pools. Most dead leaves have tannins in it but some are better than others for betta breeding. Put a few dead brown leaves in the tank but don't over do it. Old dead branches do the same thing.

Have a nice day Dexter, I'm from Naga City and I've been watching your videos lately, and your videos were interesting and great, as I'm now inspired breeding aquarium fish and as well as now interested to put up our own pet shop business in the future as here in Naga City, there are only few pet shops who sells fish for aquariums, and most of them don"t have knowledge about breeding fish .Anyway I still have lots of things to learn from you about breeding fish. By the way I'm Jesus R. Guinhawa, 55 years old, I'm almost retired businessman because of my 2 sons who is now managing our business. Now I'm managing a dragon fruit farm which is only a hubby but now becomes a good business, as we still have lots of vacant space in the farm, I planned to put up ponds for breeding a koi fish, beta fish, guppies, and other tropical fish just to keep me busy to make life enjoyable, as now I have lots of spare time in the farm, and I think breeding fish will make me enjoy life just the way I see you enjoying your business... anyway from now on I'll be your avid subscriber and maybe your future friend as I'm interested to visit you in Zambuanga, maybe later time after this Covid Pandemic problems...
