I love when Julia goes all out! ❤
I love this song. Had an opportunity to see the Brecker Brothers with Will Lee and David Sanborn in 1976. One of the tightest bands I have ever heard or seen.

Yes! I saw the Bros. touring "Back to Back" at the Allen Theater in Cleveland about the same time. Will Lee is so good at so many things, I watch hours of the Letterman show just to hear the band.
Love Mike Stern was in Germany and found the "1992 The Brecker Brothers Live" and it was a shock. So great, i've always put this as "music for musician".. the first piece is.. "Some Skunk Funk", the second one is the one i do prefer in the whole album, "Common Ground". This is what the essence of music should be.
The Live Spain performance with Dennis Chambers on the kit and James Genus is unhuman.

Yes, that version is crazy! Cheers, Julia
Yeah!!! Play that funky music!
Miss the Brecker Brothers. One of my favorite songs. So funky you can smell it. Thank you. I had the LP but of course almost 50 years later, I don't know where the hell it is.
Insane tune, outrageous Playing Julia 👏 ❤
This tune needs the funk face at its best =) Amazing job, Julia on this crazy funk tune..I still have this on vinyl. Frohe Ostern❤🩹
Smokin! Great!
The happiness that this girl has when playing the bass is contagious. You can tell that she loves to explain, that we discover bands and soloists that, to me, were unknown.
she's really feeling it
You be feeling that skunk funk too ❤️❤️🎸🎸
Julia is definetly in the groove!
You're a great musician Julia, thanks for the groove!
Woow! This is difficult! And you played it flawlessly! What a pro!!!😲😳👋👋👋👍
You are superbad girl way beyond professional. I love your facial expressions they really make you feel the music ❤❤❤

What a monster tone. And the playing was just amazing. As always really.
Such a great bassplayer! God!
I love this tune! Mostly I think about it from a sax player's perspective, but I might be taking up bass guitar for fun. Very well played Julia! 🎶🎧

They are wonderful Julia. Thank you very much. You have great command of the instrument and rhythm. You have a ten. I can't get there, impossible, 😳😳😳

Excellente Bassiste !!
Aw yeaaah! I love the Brecker Bros!!! Please do Night Flight next, is one of my favorites! 🙏
Great performance, and that TONE!!!!!!
excellent. burning.
The horn harmonies all being a half step flat of the rhythm section is what makes this tune so great. Nice cover
Go girl…. Love it
Decided to take bass lessons ( started this week ) !! Yesterday I ordered my first bass 😍Looking forward to easter-egg-shaped shipping package 🤣 !! Thanks Julia and Thomann for all these videos 😄🎶

Now that I've seen you play that harmonic, I will never be able to unhear it! Another masterful cover.
Classic tune and great playing by Julia, as always!
Hey Julia, I just wanted you to know that you taught me my first bass riff. "Papa was a Rolling Stone" from a previous video for beginners. Thank you! I'm glad I found your lessons!
Ahhhh, getting to the jazzy side 😍. The Brecker Brothers offer lots of opportunities for funky bass lines. Please do „Rocks“ if possible. 😄
WONDERFUL playing !! ♥ very good job
haha good to see you working hard =)
Bass FACE OFF between Julia and Frank from Bass the World 💪🏻
Great playing, Julia! Everything you do is right on, real world playing and information. I'm a bass player and you have helped me so much. And I always have to thank you for the special on Chuck Rainey, he's from my area in NE Ohio and a big influence. Keep on doin' it!

Lovely song. I enjoy it even more in the version played by Panzerballet. 🤘
Nice! That's a tough one
Would love to see you feature Jack Bruce, especially "Crossroads" from the "Wheels Of Fire" album.
Hey Julia,toll gemacht🍍🍍🍍💐
Buona Pasqua Julia, il genere è lontano da ciò che ascolto di solito, ma sei molto brava, complimenti ❤
Nice jam!
Que interpretación tan maravillosa, in two words, Julia is AM - MAZING!!!
Live version with Neil Jason on bass is even crazier
Brilliant. That looks so difficult to play
Ju, can you try playing Teen Town by Weather Report. Thanks.
Yes! The B Bros ! Skunk Funk was even crazier to listen to if you were in college had a few liquid libations! 😊 Thanks Julia. Great job. It brings back some really fun memories. Dbl hand waves.
Hi Julia, thanks for highlighting the genius playing of the Breckers brothers. To encourage the next generation of bass players could we have the next instalment of “Beginner Bass Practice Songs “ part 2 with : Keni Burke “Risin to the Top” War “Galaxy “Tenna Marie “Square Biz” and “Papa was a Roiling stone “
Really Amazing ;-)
All respect to Will Lee, but Neil Jason just crushes this on the live recording
Julia not hold'n back
💙👊😎
❤😊
Julia, you should teach in a school, because those kids would just soak up your enthusiasm and talent 😊
Verrrrry nicely done. Bravo! Another old one that you might enjoy is King Curtis' "Memphis Soul Stew" (1967). I hear a bit of Curtis influence in Michael Brecker's tenor playing... Hope you find the bass part fun!
merci julia incroyable......pire qu'un TGV......hi hi.....
She is very good bass player ! Legit !
💥💕💕💕💥🙌🏼💥
Crazy! But you managed it of course
Great stuff. The BB stuff from these period is so funky. Julia, what strings were on this Sandberg? Flats? Thomastik or Labella 760FL? You make them sound lovely.
nice one of.bufs. greetings hi🤠
💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
MIGHTY FINE JULIA
Serious bass face 😊
Hey Julia, can you teach me to play that? I’ve never played an instrument, but I’m motivated.
Yoooooh
Just remembering the lines of the first minute would kill me…. no idea how she does this…
Was it easy to get that attack at 0:50 right?😮
Düdldüdüü dü düdl düdldüdüü 😂👍
Could you do a Level 42 song???
AND HOW the hell did you figure out that line!!??
No matter how many people speak well and admire this kind of chaos I don't experience this as music, but more like a jumbled mess! I would never ever have it in any of my playlists, it's torture that can drive you insane if exposed to it for any length of time!
