While you're at, how about a Code of Conduct for ALL PUBLIC SERVANTS under penalty of forfeiture of all monies and benefits for their time in office, 5 years in prison and barred from public service for the rest of their lives? The way he stated his position without belittling anyone, when he asked "could you tell ME why..." instead of making him feel it was him vs a group of people, his even tone of voice, and listening to the answers given-all of that will get more positive things done instead of getting even, you hurt me now I'll hurt you, yelling and talking over each other. I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and erase all the bad feelings of the past and start with a fresh slate. It seems like one side is mad at the other and is doing all they can to make the other side bleed...they are confirming LIFETIME appointed federal judges. You would think both sides would want the cleanest hands, the best of the best-there shouldn't be sides on this topic. They should be on the side of what's best for America. The three gov powers of Executive, Legislative and Judicial are meant to be balancing powers. It is inappropriate for one to be dictating the structure or operations within another balancing power. As for ethics? Congress needs to address their own! So Much is openly ignored. While they seek to pass judgement and place controls within another power. For the purpose of upsetting that balance to their favor. The attacks on specific Supreme Court justices were so exaggerated out of context. For example calling an annual fishing trip by two long-standing friends a “gift” because the judge flew for this trip on a private plane owned by the other along with him and stayed at his lodgings. That logic to call that a gift is sooo far reaching. Which is why they simply label it without further description. The two judges they single out are both conservative. When you hear of the “unethical” behaviors suggested it must be vague to even push that suggestion. You can’t have a balancing power trying to dictate over another balancing power. For the obvious motive to upset the balance bias in their favor. So poorly disguised.

Before ever considering a code of conduct or ethics in the Supreme Court, the all need to take a good hard look at themselves. There is no such thing as a code of conduct, ethics or morals in either the House, the Senate. the White House, the president or the Vice President. A code of conduct and ethics needs to be established in the House,the Senate, the White House, the president and the vice president before looking at the Supreme Court. Whats good for the Goose is also good for the Gander.

Dick needs to start looking for another job. I question what he is hiding ?

I am puzzled as to why it is so often said that members of our congress and senate “were not present” during a session. Why not? That is the job they are well paid to do. How and why would that be acceptable? To then complain that they didn’t get a chance to speak or weigh in, whose fault was that? Presence should be required. So how is it this happens? Not invited or made aware? Or what conflicts to not show up to their jobs? Seems too often only a fraction are there for a vote or to weigh in. Would like to understand this.

They usually serve on more than one committee, participate in floor debates and voting. This causes scheduling conflicts. This committee, for example, goes through three rounds of debates when it comes to voting on District Attorney nominees. Knowing that, members that wasnt, previously, present due to other committee assignments, were expecting to be heard in this round and not be denied that opportunity. Its breaking Congressional rules and quorum. At least, thats how I am understanding it.
