Bummed I missed this Live. Work. So happy for Coach. The last couple seasons must’ve been so demanding. She deserves to enjoy her family. She’s built a great team and Jan will do an awesome job. I hope all the recruits stick with us. 🖤💛🖤💛

Lisa Bluder's son plays for Grinnell College. Maybe she would like to watch him play his final year of college ball.

Reminds me of when my Tarheels when Dean Smith retired. Longtime Assistant Bill Guthridge took over. Dean left a stacked team and Bill went to the final four 2 out of 3 years. Then Bill retired. Bill was unable to recruit because everyone knew he would retire soon. All the other coaches would say Bill Guthridge is going to be retiring soon. Matt Doherty was next. He had no talent and his coaching skills were abrasive. BTW I am a Iowa fan in football and basketball also. Hopefully Jan has the next coach already on the staff. Kate Martin could be a distant future head coach.

Jennie Baranczyk would be an excellent H.C. when Coach J is done.

The great Nick Saban retired mostly because of NIL, transfer portal and a different players of today. These coaches today not only has to recruit H.S. players but also pick up players in the portal. Even before that they have to re-recruit their own players each year. Then you add the stressors since COVID and Final Four deep runs. She probably is exhausted and had enough. I think going forward long tenure coaches will eventually fade away. The pay is too good and the stress is too high. Put in your 20 and go on vacation. I think Lisa has left Jan a quality team. Not going to win the Big 10 but can compete on a high level.

KennethGolden is one of the very few who correctly identified why Nick Saban left the Bama coaching gig. NIL has greatly empowered the players, and old time coaches are not used to players having such freedom and power.
