The guy hasn't played all season and you think he is vital 😂? He is a sick note. Go do some research and find how many games he has missed for Arsenal. We need an upgrade on him and better to sell him when he still has any kind of market value. The team ate all the meat on the bone 98% of it. That's the problem. Do you envision a DM signing coming to be behind TP5, J20 & Rice? Even if we move Rice to L8 permanently, would a new signing accept to be in rotation with J20 & TP5 for minutes? Lastly, would it be a useful allocation of resources to spend the amount of wages needed on 3 players for the same single position? If we buy a new 6, one of J20 & TP6 has to go. If we keep both, then we are most likely eyeing a L8 and not a 6. This will mean that we have 2 DM6's (TP5 & J20) and 2 L8's (Rice & a new signing). This will allow us to manage TP5 minutes and fitness thus making him available for the big games where we really need him. My thinking is that we'll keep both Partey and Jorginho, get a L8 to play with Rice and move Kai to F9.

@@felixsumba2576 Ok I think “Partey replacement” wasn’t the best choice of words. What I really meant was a midfielder with Partey’s attributes who can play both no6 and no8. Like you said, we do need another 8 other than Rice. But as you know Partey is too injury prone and Jorginho will be our last choice midfielder next season. Over the last 2 games, it’s been proven yet again how badly we need Partey’s attributes, and whilst Jorginho has filled in better than expected this season, it’s still not quite enough for us to go all the way. So we need a Partey alternative who’s better than Jorginho and not far off Partey at the very least. Another reasoning I have is that Partey’s contract expires at the end of next season. Therefore, perhaps we could convince the new midfielder to share minutes with Partey in the upcoming season and the following season he’ll fully take over from Partey if he does well.

Partey is super as a 6 but what worries is his availability, if a player won't be available most of the season then it becomes very difficult for the club to keep him, his quality not Withstanding.

Thomas Partey isn't going anywhere unless we find that quality. We can't get rid of senior players while they're still quality.

Arteta will have learned from selling Xhaka at the wrong time, he won't repeat the mistake. Eleney, Nelson, Eddie, Jesus, Zinchenko, possibly Kiwior are all areas that can be upgraded. Jesus.has been an utter failure as leading striker this year. His style greatly greatly reduced our ability to score and if we do not win the PL this eadon I would argue his return from injury and forced inclusion in tje latter part of both seasons had cost the PL on both occasions. He is basically not effective at scoring or being effecting to score. He jas no discipline and his final shot is not prioritized which is crazy for a 27 striker. His knees are done also.

Partery is good but you need to consider his availability. This guys plays only few game per year.

No point selling Partey. We don't need to make money back on every single player. If anything, give him a 1-year extension.

Partey plays 40 matches last season in all competition so I believe if we can manage his injury problem he also deserve a new contract because it's not his fault to be injured.

Keep Partey as well for his last season of his contract and we’re all very happy, J20 deserves it and Partey when healthy is world class

It's better to keep a player that's contributing as opposed to players who take up space but no involvement

The second longest amount of time he has been unavailable due to injury is 66 days. However Welbeck was unavailable due to injury for more than 100 days on more than 3 occasions.

Very good news, Partey hopefully will get a new contract too he's shown how brilliant he is lately and when he's not injured he's one of the very BEST!

Partey is such a crucial player for us....yet he has missed 70+matches for us. I want Partey but we don't often have Partey

I’m leaning towards keeping Partey too, when he's fit he's exceptional, we’ll get peanuts for him & with Elneny leaving we need another midfielder anyway - it all depends on the finances. Of course if somebody offered £45m for Partey that would change things but I don’t think that will happen. A decent replacement would be £60m+ ! We can manage Partey's fitness & rotate him in as required, Jorginho is more of an 8 than a 6 (6 at a push) because of his lack of mobility - personally I want someone else who can play 6 (in rotation with Partey) so Rice can continue to play 8.

I'm just glad we have them both, we need them both. They're the main reason we dominate the midfield and suffocate teams!!!

If Partey stays fit, there’s NO WAY Arteta will sell him. Partey makes us BETTER, no matter how good we are without him. He’s Arteta’s first big money signing.

Good...... We need to keep a player like Jorginho around, his wealth of experience is invaluable to the team and, to be honest....... he's had a fantastic season and contributed massively to the team. The TP question is another issue that we need address, when he's fit he's the player we want to see in the midfield with Declan Rice but, in my opinion, we need to bring in another top quality younger 6/8 player. Unless we can get £20+ million for Thomas, we might as well keep him.

Fans like you are the reason why we hang on to players for snetimental reasons. Partey is world class no doubts about that, but how many more seasons do you want to go with injured and unavailable players derailing our season? It's been 4 years with him already and he has not played 25 EPL games a season. Not good enougj.

Look , mate , as much as I love Partey, you can’t rely on him physical form wise . You have to take hard decisions at Arsenal level . It takes ages with the his injuries and then getting his form back . He has never played full season without missing 2-3 months . Extending Jorginho is cheap reliable option for regista role (unique skill set ) . I am for Jorginho, and for selling Partey , buying another quality CM/ CDM.

People don’t realise but Partey is so good and important to how we play. Had it been any other player, Arteta would’ve binned them ages ago. But Arteta himself knows, especially the success last year was built around Partey at the base, hence why we haven’t played as fluid as last year. Real ones also know, replacing him is as difficult as trying to get Rodri from city and he’s the only possible replacement

Partey is just completely a different level to jorgi. That said i dont have a problem with the new contract i think the squad need to hold on to some experienced winners for the younger players and he seems to get arteta so whatever works for them. That still means we need to sign 1 or 2 midfielders.

Been waiting on this news. Keep Jorginho. He's a good squad player but a better teammate to the squad.

Makes perfect sense for Jorginho to resign since he is very important off the pitch and on the pitch when it comes to getting us through big games. He essentially coaches the team when playing. I see Elneny going and Partey purely cause of injury. I would love a zubermendi to come in to be that dm and rotational piece with Rice to help mamage his minutes.

Im okay with Jorginho in the Elneny role next season, but if this gets in the way of a new CM/DM signing that can properly challenge for a spot in the XI then this is not a good move.

Georginio does not free up Rice like Partey does. The last two games are direct evidence of that.

If arteta realeses partey, maybe arteta has psychological problem

I think Partey will stay as well with Elneny leaving so our midfield options would be: Rice Partey Jorginho (New signing) Odegaard and one of ESR/Viera. ESR more likely to leave. If partey does leave thou, we need to sign 2 midfielders.

Don't underestimate what he's giving outside the games - maybe more than in a actual games.

When Jorginho came, he said he phoned Havertz and said "come, you have to come"... Now Havertz is here and COOKING, why would he leave? 🤷🏾‍♂️

As long as this isn’t instead of signing another midfielder and he isn’t boosting his wages too much I don’t see the problem.

Great bit of business, should have been done before now. Been more reliable than Partey.

If we lost Partey, Jorginho and Elneny ....as well as Lokonga...it means we having to go out and buy 2-3 more midfielders as a focus, when we all know we really need a striker and right wing cover for saka.. so retaining Partey and Jorginho for now kinda makes sense if we can and focus transfer funds in areas we really need.

In such a short amount of time, Jorginho really is important to Arsenal and this extension is great for the entire club.

You have to know when to let players go we need fresh and improve upcoming talent the squad’s needs to strengthen in the midfield and up front

We're finally getting to see what Partey and Rice look like together in midfield, and I love it. If we do get rid of Partey we need a player in that mould to replace him.

The issue with Partey is, he is close to world class, but ever since he came here, his injury record is crazy . If we sell him, we are not getting more than 40 million, but it will take above 70 million to replace him.

i think we should keep both of them partey and Jorginho, that will help us compete in all cups by rotating players , rice should rest during FA cup and energy drink cup competitions while playing in the EPL and UCL

Jorgi has been a great signing for AFC he brings skill and calmness on the pitch and he has an intelligent likable personality which blends in well at AFC now Partey is a much more gifted player in fact when on song he is world class BUT he is always injured,every January he misses a month at a vital time at the Afican cup and his position is vital to the team therefore he has to go Zubimendi to replace him would work.

This signing is magnificent, not just for the fact he still has so much to give, but also the fact he can continue his coaching journey and maybe even break into coaching at arsenal akin to Per Mertesacker.

We have players who can't help us; Elneny, Nelson, Cedric, Nketia, but have been at Arsenal for years. Partey is superb apart from injuries. Why not retain Partey as well. We should win a trophy with Partey

Considering the shite we previously bought from Chelsea , Willian, Luiz Jorginho has shown that he's been committed to the club. He's played really well since he came here I would have loved to have had him here in his prime. He deserves at least another year and I can't think of how much we'd have to pay for another player like him. COYG

I think there’s room for both Partey and Jorginho. That said, if someone comes in with a 20-30 mil offer for Partey then we have to take it and run.

If we are going to improve in cup contests then it’s a no brainer to have all three and one more youngster who can essentially do an apprenticeship under rice, partey and Jorge.

I think this deal has no bearing on the Partey situation. It only means that Jorginho takes Elneny’s place in the squad while he hones his coaching skills and acquires the necessary badges for a coaching career afterwards.

the way arteta's managed partey's health this season is proof that he intends to keep partey. in seasons passed, arteta would have been trying to force partey back into the side as soon as he was nearly fit only for him to have a setback. besides, any offers for a player entering the last year of his contract and partey's fitness issues would receive derisory offers at best. arteta may keep partey and bring in zubimendi, allowing him to develop slowly behind partey the way that rodri did behind fernandinho. he may go with douglas luiz or bruno to have a more immediate effect. regardless, you don't move a player like partey, the young guy has to come in and "retire" partey.

Jorginho is a good squad player

Honestly happy jorginho is going to stay. He played very well and has experience with the champions league, won the league in Italy as well. He’s pretty reliable. Good deal.
