Cut The Roller Bearing Open and Have a Look at The Surface For Wear...Your Replacing Them Anyway ..!
You gotta keep em separated.
Soak bearings in oil. I never knew hardened steel would soak up oil. Grinding paste on bearing faces. !!!!!!!!!!!! I`m glad you`re not doing my gearbox.

Are you not being a little facetious? I doubt the reason that they soak bearings in oil is for the metal to absorb it. As for grinding paste, how would you advise that score lines are removed?
