Totally! Rob and Sandra were pretty good too in my opinion. And I was happy to see that Danni was willing to work with Rob even though he's a huge target, which could be a good strategy.

Gengar Crobat Rob and Sandra have lived through modern Survivor so it’s not that much of a surprise. They started in the precursor which is Heroes vs Villians, Rob played in Redemption Island which was the transitional period, and Sandra played in what we now consider modern Survivor which is Game Changers

@@captaintalon4485 Well RI wasn't too long after Heroes vs Villains and Sandra didn't last very long on season 34. And a lot has changed even just six seasons later.

Just want to take the time to say this was edited amazingly. The players and alliances are made clear through both the audio and editing and was as a result really enjoying to watch.

Yeah Peridiam we're gonna need you to do this for every episode this season, thanks. :)

If Ben is smart he needs to blame the Natalie vote-off on being Rob and Parv's idea. Jeremy will be too heated to want to work with them and the likelihood he will confront Rob and Parv is very unlikely causing the New-School alliance to take the numbers.

I saw Sele as a solar system. The Ethan/Parvati/Rob trifecta are at the center with pair in Jeremy/Natalie, Adam/Denise, Ben/Michelle with each pair wanting to work with the trio. I'd say Danni's on her own because it isn't Rob's style to keep players who will flip on him. The trifecta will try to pick up Jeremy next episode. Ben's best bet is to organize Michelle/Adam/Denise/Danni for a 5-4 vote against Ethan.

@@dylanhilts7018 I know Adam was the orchestrator BUT Jeremy looked to Ben during tribal and Ben said "we'll talk" which gives him the opportunity to make the move to sway Jeremy and Michelle. Obviously it will take some relationship mending for Jeremy to trust Ben again, but this is Ben's opportunity to make a move to build the numbers.

i was so devastated to see natalie get voted out first :( i was also sad about amber because i rly wanted to see how she would play in modern survivor

@@shayneletendre9451 Jeremy wasn't voted out first the first time they played together. he got blindsided after the merge and he made it to the jury. natalie's twin nadiya was voted out first that season

Elliot H You didnt read that right my guy. Jermey was voted out first between the two of them last time, not first overall. This time around Natalie was voted out first and Jermey has to play the game without her

@@shayneletendre9451 I was rooting for Jeremy and Nat as well, I think putting them on the same tribe though was a mistake from the producers, they were too much of a pair and they should have been separated from the beginning like Rob and Amber. But Natalie WON her season avenging Jeremy's blindside and voting out everyone that voted him out so I think Jeremy could do the same for her. I think there is still hope haha

I love yul so much he’s already showing out. Him and Sophie are my new fave duo!

The pace of this episode was absolutely breakneck and 90 minutes of show went by in what felt like 10 minutes. Was worried some people would not give it their all but every single person has come to PLAY. Makes the experience 1000 times richer than if some were there for the sake of it. Not to mention that the “old school” players are not struggling in the slightest and often running rings around “new schoolers”

Moral of all of this : Don't play poker between Survivor Seasons

they've been making changes and trying out new (and old, forgotten) post-production techniques for a whike, for better or for worse. i liked the editing work in david v goliath and these first episodes of waw

First episode did not disappoint! I'm also having a hard time placing guesses for my winner! It's not as obvious as season 39 was, which is good!

Sandra and Ben are really good at creating and operating in chaos (although, Sandra seems far more intentional about it). I know that Ben kinda looked bad with the whole Rob interaction, but he has seemingly positioned himself pretty well and despite him being a major reason that the vote went Natalie, none of the blame is really being put on him. All in all, just what a great premiere. Like, I definitely have my faves (Parv and Yul being at the top), but I kind of don't want anyone to lose? Which is an interesting spot to be in.

Yul was very smart bringing up the “Poker Alliance” to take targets out early

I LOVED THE MAPS AND LITTLE FACES

Based off this one episode, my dream final four is Yul, Parvati, Rob and Wendell.

I loved the addition of the map graphics

Please do this after every episode. I'm living in Denmark so I cant watch this season which I'm very sad about. This recaps it SO well so I would absolutely love it, if you recaps every episode so I can kind of keep up even though I can't watch the actual series.

One of my favorite, "power moves", you may have missed. And that was Yul's response to Tyson asking, "Are you voting for me?". Yul didn't say, "No.". Rather he made it clear that Tyson was one of the few options he was considering. Very bold, and definitely Tyson realized how in control Yul was, and there was zero chance of Tyson being able to stop it at that moment. I'm very impressed by Yul and Rob so far. Both exceeded my expectations. I'd also like to showcase Parvati's skill. One just standing beside Rob when Rob was confronting Danni. It was clear to me, and I assume Danni, that Danni wasn't defending herself against just Rob. It was intimidating posturing by Parv, and 100% intentional. Even the questioning of, "who are we voting for?", by Parvati was so overt, I think Ben got hoodwinked right then and there to vote for Natalie. Parv and Robs willingness to just openly talk about, "secrets", with others present gives the illusion of alliance. Specifically in Robs case, where he's questioning Ben on the beach with Jeremy there too. Now Rob and Jeremy didn't have an alliance, but Ben was probably like, "Oh shit, I'm being called out and it's 2v1! help!". XD Ben was priceless, because despite what I'd like to be the case, I probably would have crumbled under the prescense of Rob too. :P Thx for the vid!

Yul made a mistake by letting Tyson know he was in charge. You never wanna let people know your the head of the big alliance.

Yul won't make the merge. He will be identified as the head of that alliance, and most likely taken out at a merge swap.

Wow, I loved this video. I really liked this mapping of where everyone is at in the game.

That quick exchange at the end of the second tribal when Sandra saw Yul give Kim the little shoulder pat was fantastic. Blink and you could miss it, but to me at least it was clearly showing that Sandra sees Yul's game, that she's watching everything and noting it all. It's not just bluster that she's the queen. She is incredibly observant and manipulative. I don't believe for a minute her story about Rob promising her he wasn't going to play. I think during their month together they worked out some kind of sneaky plan.

The edit is amazing!

Even though she was second out Amber played a much more aggressive game compared to her first two times. She looked for idols and she tried to target people.

I've been a sleeper when it comes to your vids, have been watching for a while but haven't been subscribed, but this video made me take the leap. Really nice to have a visual representation of what the social dynamic looks like, as even as a big fan of the show it isn't always easy to remember every bit that happens with their fast cuts! Thanks for the vid Peridiam, here's to more to come! :)

I threw my best friend off the deep-end with this season (she has never seen American survivor before) and WOW the edit was so clean I had a hard time trying to explain things in between watching everything unfold. All she could say by the end in terms of who she was rooting for was "whoever is against the cult leader Boston Rob".

Everybody knows Rob and Amber can't stay both in the game, so they anticipated, and with one on the edge helping the other one in the game, they have a better shot. I thought so too until I read/saw an interview where she said she was truely upset over it. She was hurt, they bonded on IOI, and she really felt betrayed. From Rob's side, he said he was not giving anyone any information because information is power. I didn't hear if they (he and Amber) even knew they were going at the time IOI was filming. Filming for IOI ended May 4. WAW filming began 19 days later. Sure seems like maybe he would have known while out there with Sandra but maybe not finalized because of kids and Amber... or maybe it all came together in those 20 days he was home? It takes a lot of coordinating to see that 4 school aged children are seen to and cared for if both mom AND dad are out on an island in Fiji playing a game that made them rich (OK, maybe just comfortably well off).

Nah, she’s playing he old Sandra (you don’t disrespect The Queen) game she always plays. How she still gets away with it I don’t know. She just tells everyone that everyone else is dropping their names. And they all believe her! They all end up voting off whoever Sandra wants and 39 days from now they’re down to final 3 and they go WTF is Sandra doing still here. I’m telling you it’s like some invisibility cloak or something.

I'm obsessed with this video, wow. The animation is great and so easy to follow. I can't believe you put so much work into a video that will get outdated so fast, but it is admirable. This video makes me so hyped to see the rest of the season now that you made the division of players so clear :D

I love the way you mapped this out! There were so many moving pieces in that premiere and you broke it down perfectly! I would LOVE to see more of these in the future if the episodes warrant them! This season is already living up to the hype. I honestly found myself flipping back & forth between alliances myself, in light of all the amazing gameplay that was going on.

Great video! I personally loved the Parvati and Rob clip at the end though lol.

I really loved the little maps, it helped explain everything very simply and was a good way to keep track of all the moving parts the premiere had to offer

This recap was FANTASTIC! I love the pictures moving around. I'm sure it was a lot of work, but it was worth it.

I got super interested in Survivor about 3 weeks ago through your channel @Peridiam. No idea how i first stumbled onto it but, after watching hundreds of survivor videos, I realized the biggest ever season was about to occur and I knew I had to watch it.
