BREAKING DOWN ALL Of Caitlin Clark’s Assists And Turnovers

Спорт

In this video, I will be BREAKING DOWN ALL Of Caitlin Clark’s Assists And Turnovers in her latest game against the Washington Mystics. Caitlin Clark had a monstrous game against the mystics, tallying 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists. Even so, her 6 turnovers is what got the reporters attention after the game, causing Aliyah Boston to step in. Is there a reason for all of her turnovers?

And Temi will play defense. I think with her back they’ll be able to play for the steals with their backcourt. Mitchell is a liability on the defensive end because of her size but she can nullify that with heavy pressure on the passing lanes to keep her out of switches. Plus Temi already knows exactly how to play with CC, CC will average a triple double. But nobody is gonna get the ball in the second quarter because Mitchell is not going to give anybody the ball 😂.

@@CarterMomon Caitlin Clark now has 106 Turnovers for the season. The next closest player has 66. All-time WNBA record for Turnovers in a season is 137 Clark is on pace to have over 200 Turnovers for the season...she will shatter the record by a large margin By the way, the vast majority of her turnovers come from intercepted passes and players stealing the ball from her, so stop with the excuses

If people watch Caitlin play at Iowa... they'd shut the hell up about turnovers! Most of her turnovers come from her teammates standing around when she's pushing the ball! Caitlin is an average to above average defender. Most that say she is horrible are her haters. In Iowa they ran a lot of Zone but the Fever mostly run man with a lot of switching. Early on she struggled a bit with the switches and would get caught in traffic or stuck behind screens cause she’d get out of position. Then Sides would sub her out for Wheeler on defensive at end of games and announcers say things like Wheeler is a batter defender, which haters interpret as Clark sucks. No Wheeler is a 9 year vet who knows the system better, this has not happened though since the Dream game as Clark has gotten much better.

When you have the ball in your hands all the time you are going to have some turnovers. I will say nearly 1/3 of her turnovers are due to miscommunication with her teammates or they just don’t handle the pass and bobble it. Turnovers will go down the more this team gels but Clark is going to push and make some risky passes so 4-5 turnovers will be common but the reward of 4-5 easy buckets a game because of that evens it out. She plays fast.

Caitlin is definitely a brilliant passer and the players didnt seem ready gornthis type of passing. Im not saying her teamates arent good, just that theyre noy used to this amount of passing. As time goes on the entire team seems yo be finding the chemistry. In every sport its amazing to play with a great passer. It makes the game exciting for the entire team and lifts the entire team. 6:50 - are the type of turnovers that happen where you just have to give credit to the defender. Caitlin put the ball in the perfect spot and it's possible that the poster didn't do a good enough job at boxing out her defender, but I lean more in the direction of the defender doing an impressive job at reading and anticipating the pass, in which case technically Caitlin tipped off her pass which is what allowed to defender to make such good anticipation to come around and get her hand on the ball. I don't necessarily flaw the receiver as she wants to catch that pass in rhythm with her momentum towards the basket to keep the defenders off balance as opposed to quickly cutting off the pass. This one is certainly arguable... it's difficult to wonder if it's on the receiver for allowing her defender to come around her and get a hand on the ball. I tend to think it was a quick heads up play by the defender. However the receiver at the same time had her defender boxed just prior to the pass, so it's not necessarily on Caitlin to not tip off her pass as the receiver has her defender boxed out, at which point the receiver relaxes on the box in order to catch the pass with momentum to the hoop, but this in turn allowed the defender a chance to reach around and get her hand on the ball? Either way... when it comes to the stat sheet this is generally one that you charge to the passer, but It's not a bad or sloppy turn over. The defender made a great play and potentially a risky play because if she's not able to get her hand on the ball she's giving away a layup. i would be interested to see if there are other turn overs in this realm in other games. I could see this being the type of turnover that's difficult to initially recognize for Caitlin that can be reduced with more experience and a stronger feel if it's recurring. In college a defender may be more inclined to stay with and behind the receiver as opposed to trying to anticipate the pass and go for the steal There tends to be a lot more fundamental basketball at the college level. Less athleticism, less risk. This maybe the type of pass that through experience Caitlin will learn of more efficient placement of the pass in this scenario even though at face value it doesn't appear as though she did anything wrong.

This league has a lot of turnovers, every game it seems. It's not just CC it's just that they have a lot of turnovers. And I think it's because they tend to have weak hand strength. They just can't hold onto the ball. A fast pass will just bounce out of their hands, or a weak bump will knock it out.

@@unarepublic I don't know if anyone has brought it up concerning college basketball, but the reason anyone has been bringing it up is because Caitlin Clark is a high profile, controversial player. People who hate her (for "reasons"??) love to point out how she has many turnovers. My point is that she's not the only one, and that a significant number of her turnovers, or of anyone's for that matter, are because the receiver simply drops or loses the ball, not because it's a poor pass. The reason no one mentions college players is because none of them are a lightning rod of controversy, like Clark is. It's the haters who mention it, by the way. And recently I've been observing to see if it's really just her, but it's not.

You seem to most times want to lay blame on her teammate being in the wrong position. If Caitlin passes the ball to a teammate who is in a disadvantageous position then that is her fault. That is the job of a point guard to read in the moment what plays and passes can work

I'm a newbie, so I don't know what's really going on -- but it makes sense to me that her passes are incredibly quick, fast and hard, and sometimes they're to an open space in front of the receiver. so you have to be ready for them. and if you're not used to that, then "the chemistry" hasn't developed yet. that's not CC's fault, but it's not really the receiver's fault exactly -- I think of it as the coach needing to get people to expect her passes and train to be able to deal with them.

This was actually a very bad video. I was expecting something to explain why she’s the all time turnover leader in pro basketball history really breaking down her turnovers. It’s tough to because there are too many to blame her teammates for. I think she has enough strengths about her game to highlight without having to try to downplay her glaring weakness which are her turnovers. She’s the third leading in NCAA history and now in the pros she’s averaging more turnovers per game than anyone that ever played pro basketball men or women. I think she’ll figure it out though but it is a weakness and it will be tough to win when your PG gives the ball to the other team so often.

The poster is only playing to the Caitlin Crazies and Caitlin Karens for views. His narrative to blame everyone but CC is for them. CC has a high school interview where she claims making very tough passes for assist is the favorite part of her game. Like her logo threes, she has a habit of trying to put flair on her passes. She throws sidearm baseball passes that require extra wind up that gives the defense a little extra time to react which is why passes get deflected or defense gets to the ball at about the same time as they reach the target. She also throws a lot of passes where she leads the player and WNBA players aren’t NFL receivers and often can’t read the pass even if good. If CC throws it where they ain’t, ultimately it’s her fault. And, yes, this was one of the reasons she averaged almost 5 turnovers at Iowa too, so it’s not just the Fever players. Long cross court passes get her in trouble too as she has not adjusted to player speed at this level. Besides passing she’s not a great classical ball handler but a very good modern ball handler (aka the hesi dribble aka old school palm is part of her game). It allows her to freeze defenders to drive or get off a shot. But if anticipated and timed right the dribblers hand is slightly beneath the ball and the defender can actually slap down on the front or even top of the ball without risk of hitting dribblers hidden hand. CC’s up right dribbling style makes her susceptible to this which is why she gets her pocket picked from time to time. She also has a habit of dribbling to the base line inviting traps. CC is a great player but only a better than adequate distributor/ball handler and totally lost on defense. As a Fever fan I hope sides ends the CC at point experience. Sorry but by stats she’s a horrible off the dribble shooter and a great assisted off the pick or spot up shooter. Again sorry, but CC was never the next Steph Curry. But she’s a damn good next Steve Alford.

@@KiLJoyster It took me a while to figure out what the posters were doing. I get it now though. Good observations that should be easy to see by anyone that’s not blind. I saw a video today saying she has a case for MVP. lol. I almost got upset but realized it’s just to rile up people like me to call out her shortcomings and then go back and forth with the delusional fans. To have someone on the league averaging twice as many points as CC, twice as many rebounds, more steals, more blocks, less turnovers, better FG%, and better 3 point % and say CC should be MVP is so insane that I can’t believe that anyone truly believes it.

@@KiLJoyster lovely analysis, though a little extreme ("totally lost on defense"?). and I wish you could give Carter credit for what he's trying to do, which is definitely NOT to "blame everyone but CC." as you say, "She also throws a lot of passes where she leads the player" -- this worked well at Iowa, maybe partly because college ball is slower and not as closely guarded, but it also implies that her current teammates ought to be able to get better at expecting her passes, so her TOs should drop.

funny, seemed to me that he was being blunt about CC's responsibility for the TOs. guess it's all in what we want to hear. some people want to hear, "she screwed up, she can't pass." I mean, she's not likely to make passes that are completely worthless. and Carter did point out at least 2 passes where she apparently miscalculated.
