    A bit like the ending of Bride of Chucky where Chucky and Tiffany's baby seems like an evil little shit that'll be more evil than the two of them combined only for the child to be retconned into a good kid who doesn't want to kill anyone and wants his parents to stop killing in the shitty Seed of Chucky.

    @Sardonicus completely agree , it's heartbreaking her situation. Also even when the author tries to make everyone else less likeable to make the protegonists seem less bland, sooo many other characters had way more interesting story lines that were completely wasted.

    @Sardonicus I recently reread the books and her story makes me more sad each time. She also liked spending time with Jake because she knew EXACTLY how he felt. He was as miserable as she was and they bonded over it. But jk, Jake imprints and Leah is left here alone. Like maybe we're supposed to assume she moves on or whatever, but I would've liked to see one concrete example of her life not sucking.

    This has a lot of potential. Before Carlisle became a Vampire he was a Vampire Hunter. So if Charlie becomes a Vampire Hunter he can later become a Vampire and if he becomes a Vampire he would be pretty powerful. We know from Midnight Sun that Edward can’t read Charlie’s thoughts like Bella and when Bella became a Vampire she could put others in her Mental Shield and that made her pretty powerful so if Charlie can also put others in his Mental Shield and that would make him really powerful.

    Like this would have been kinda cute if imprinting was just "I will protect this person from things that hurt them" and Resumè could have aged normally, so the Cullens can get a few years toghether and then when Retribution is like 7/8 she and Jacob have built a close kind of brother/sister relationship. Meamwhile he can have dealt with his feelings for Bella by finding joy in taking care and protecting sb and loving sb unconditionally but in a friendship kind of way or a brotherly way. Maybe Jacob also finds a partner or whatever. And THEN I feel like this like could be kimda cute. Like these rivals, who are basically programmed to hate each other, become really close. Still weird but considering Eddie Boy is 100+ years old and Jake has a younger mimdset and would be close to Resentment it would make sense.

Only people that should see her everyday are the Cullen's of course and Charlie. The wolves, especially Jake, had no business seeing Nes everyday and acting like they were her family. The obsessive behaviour was nasty. At least with Edward and Bella, the obsession went both ways and they were the same age, relatively. But with NES, it can't be consensual since she's a literal baby and that's unforgivable

    @@sweettea1193 the messed up part is that the way its wrote, it's technically consensual since Armageddon has a advanced mindset as a baby already. Doesn't help that the older she gets, it seems like her mind doesn't quite fit the age she's supposed to be at that moment. But then again maybe I'm wrong either way, I hate the imprinting especially since there's mostly examples of a older teen imprinting on baby's or toddlers.

    Meyer's pro-life message is quite clear in this. Leah felt like less of a woman for being unable to have kids after turning into a wolf and Jacob (Meyer) basically confirmed this by agreeing with her. Rose was obsessed with Chuckesmee because she herself didn't have the chance to have children as a human. And Bella sacrificing her life for her baby, even if it meant an extremely painful death, is seen as heroic which is probably why Meyer made it as gory as possible. Abortion is immediately looked down on as an option even though Bella didn't really care about having kids (she was ready to sacrifice her human life to be with Edward) and they knew the baby would probably kill her. Basically, Meyer to her impressionable YA audience: "If you have an abortion to save your own life, if you are infertile, or don't want children, you are less of a woman" 😡

  • @kassiani_626

    @kassiani_626

    I 100% disagree. Just because someone says that they regret not being able to have children before they were made vampire or they regret that being werewolf makes them potentially infertile... does not mean they are less of a woman. And it is perfectly reasonable and understandable that a woman would feel regret over this. Abortion IS murder... and it IS wrong. Our culture's obsession with the self and what's most convenient for us is evil. Bella didn't want to kill her baby not because she'd had some intense desire to be a mother before hand, but that once that baby was conceived she recognized it as a part of her, and a part of Edward and that it would be evil to kill her because she wasn't expected or planned.

Alice's backstory is one of the films, and I think another one includes how she met Jasper. I haven't seen them, however, just read about it on Wikipedia. Also, I believe the actors are all different. So yeah, hope that helps.

  • @inkynewt

    @@chpalaz Romantic inclination in general exists only evolutionarily to continue the species. This is actually an argument that has been used by homophobes against real life gay people, so the optics of you responding to me, a gay man, with that line of logic, are pretty bad. Just because we want to have sex to reproduce doesn't mean everyone's brain is hardwired to have reproductive sex. And this line of logic is entirely cissexist when you realize that there ARE gay couples who can reproduce offspring- trans male gay men are still gay men, trans female lesbians are still lesbians. There is never a good internal excuse for a fictional population of humans or near-humans to have entirely homogeneous sexuality. And on your last point, it would be seriously homophobic to have a gay werewolf imprint on someone of an opposite gender. That's one hair's width line from conversion therapy and since imprinting is framed as this ~beautiful~ end-all-be-all thing for werewolves it would heavily imply that heterosexuality is inherently better than homosexuality. Sam was engaged to Emily's cousin Leah, but then imprinted on Emily. Emily turned him down, because Leah, and Sam got so angry he shifted and ripped half Emily's face off. The books might present them as a totally happy true-love-forever couple, but if you actually stop and think about it, it seems much more likely that Emily is just a hostage playing along so that Sam doesn't injure her further.

I get trying to portray their relationship as abusive, but I honestly don’t think it is because it’s never framed as Sam intentionally hurt Emily because he wanted too. All werewolves have short tempers so I guess this means all werewolves are abusive now? The only thing o agree with is that the imprentees feel trapped because the wolves have to stay in lapush and can’t go anywhere else. Also they don't even reproduce sexually, so why do these extra vampire chromosomes even come in pairs?! Also one of the reasons Renesme and Jacob are "meant to be" is apparently because they both have 24 pairs of chromosomes for some reason. Even if they do, an extra two chromosomes from a wolf spirit bonding session is going to be rather different than one obtained from vampire venom. Like what even is this pseudoscience?!

    You really can't say Edward is mentally 'frozen' as a 17 year old forever, when he has more knowledge than any 17 year old ever could. He knows more about people, the world, himself. He's not 17, let's be real here.

    Agreed. The "mentally 17" is something really reinforced in Midnight Sun's later chapters, which were written more than a decade after Twilight first came out. He's definitely physically 17, mentally 100+.

    @@avaphynx There’s a huge difference between a kid who’s been on the earth for seven years and an immortal creature who’s been on the earth for more than a century. Maturity is world experience, and obviously Edward has more world experience and wisdom, not “kid genius knowledge,” than any living person.

    Mental development and being mature/having a lot of knowledge are different things. Two seventeen year old's could have entire different maturity levels and intellect, but be at the same stage of mental development. Really my concern is, when Bella gets older, would it become her abusing him, because he has the mental development of a child?

    Kate's electric shock is actually a mental illusion, just like Jane's ability to induce burning pain. They are psychic powers exercised directly over the subject's mind/perception. These are the kinds of powers that Bella's shield can block. Jasper's mood control affects the nervous system rather then the brain, and Alice's visions don't directly affect the mind, which is why *those* powers work on Bella. The movies didn't bother making this distinction clear, which is probably where the confusion lies.
