GREAT interview! I had the honor of doing voiceovers for Jay (the Tonight Show with Jay Leno) from around 2000 through 2007. I was basically the go-to dude for comedy bits where they needed a character or fake announcer, movie trailer guy etc. It was great working with Jay's team!

I’ve seen Jay a couple times. He’s the funniest comedian I’ve ever seen live. I had no idea. I remember my face actually hurt from laughing non stop for so long. I recall that there were no dead spots. It was continuous rapid fire jokes. This was back in the nineties.

I miss the old guard comedians. They were so genuinely natural. Felt like if the moment just happened you could have a casual conversation. Jay is a national treasure because he embodies that spirit, reflects and shares who they were, just as we remember them. Who else takes the time to do that? No one.

🍞🍷I am reading all these comments below and agree with each of them. Repeatedly Jay is referred to as a "national treasure" and I must say that it really says it all. I'm following his many interviews with great enjoyment. He is so relaxed, comfortable, natural, insightful, honest -- and with a genuine humility rarely seen. This interview is splendid, and I am grateful for your interviewing style that let's Jay be Jay. Super well done by you both.🍞🍷

The ONE thing I can do (sort of) is sound production. The mikes should be insulated from the table, and if they were wearing cans they'd hear Jay tapping the table making that annoying sound. SOMEONE should be monitoring what's actually being recorded. Gobel was wearing brown shoes as a JOKE because one of his best lines was "Did you ever feel like it was a black tuxedo world and you are a pair of brown shoes?".

I like Jay, how could you not, but the fact his show ran so long is not evidence it was particularly good. He was bland, safe, comfortable, familiar, and there was an audience for that in that era. There are plenty of formulas by which mediocre things can sustain popularity. Look at McDonald's, Tyler Perry movies, the New York Knicks, etc.

Good interview. However, I did note that neither of them addressed the real issue with the current late night television hosts. Kimmel and Colbert go out of their way to promote their political agenda. It's a stupid mistake and displays no real skill at real humor. Jay Leno is still one of the best. He knows his job and does it better than most.

You ask us to buy your book...and.then just simply give it a good review, whether or not we like it. Why not just give it your best shot, and put it out there, and let people decide on their own? Give it a good review, even though your readers...(or maybe some of them?) "don't understand it"? Do you have a low estimation of (at least some of) your reader's intelligence, or were you just adding a little humor to your promoting your book? No, I don't mean to make out that your plug for your book is anything terrible. It's just that it's always bothered me how people, on their websites, automatically tell their readers to "like and subscribe" to their sites, without giving the reader the space on their own, to make their own decision, based on the quality of the site. It always bothered me, but I realize it's a common practice, to tell readers how they should respond to a website, And, as I said, the way you did it wasn't anything terrible. But when you tell people to automatically give your site a positive review, whether they like it...or even understand it...I had to respond to it.
