GREAT interview! I had the honor of doing voiceovers for Jay (the Tonight Show with Jay Leno) from around 2000 through 2007. I was basically the go-to dude for comedy bits where they needed a character or fake announcer, movie trailer guy etc. It was great working with Jay's team!

Mr Leno entertained America for decades and continues to share his smart sense of humor and wit. He is a national treasure.

Jay is the best😊 No inflated BS from him.😊
So glad to see Jay Leno in long form, and with the great Tom Papa
We're all happy Jay is still alive. He is a real treasure. Tom, you are magnificent too. Cant wait to get your book. Cheers..
Glad you are better Jay. Thanks for your commitment to preserving/harboring the great car/cycle collection -works of art and techno wonders.
I’ve seen Jay a couple times. He’s the funniest comedian I’ve ever seen live. I had no idea. I remember my face actually hurt from laughing non stop for so long. I recall that there were no dead spots. It was continuous rapid fire jokes. This was back in the nineties.
I laughed extremely hard and applauded at the plastic surgery/how old am I? joke! Actually one of the best I've heard in a while.
This is one of the best podcasts online! So enjoy the Papa!
first time breaking bread-er here, loved this ep! so happy to see jay doing fine, it's truly amazing you can't even tell he ever had severe burns at all. now to continue binging old eps, thanks tom!
i love jay self made humble
Thanks Tom. An invaluable chat to share with us all.
Fantastic interview - thank you!
I’m twenty minutes in and this is already a great podcast! Thanks ,Tommy and Jay! Happy 4th!

THE FLIPPIN PLUGS AND COMMERCIALS WERE 20 MINS AT THE BEGINING, GET REAL
Jay is spot on about ads on late night; we watch it on KZread to skip ads.😎👍🏻
Have always loved Jay and will continue to do so!!
The fire saw that chin and was like "I am no match." 😂😂 (I love u Jay!! Stay strong bro!!)
I miss the old guard comedians. They were so genuinely natural. Felt like if the moment just happened you could have a casual conversation. Jay is a national treasure because he embodies that spirit, reflects and shares who they were, just as we remember them. Who else takes the time to do that? No one.
Great get. Amazing. Will be a watch again
The avuncularity will be off the charts with this episode. I'm super okay with that.

Of course it will, excuse me one second....(looks up avuncularity, returns) , as I was saying....
Great discussion on the science and history of stand up and related. Jay is a walking encyclopedia. Fascinating.
Jay still cracks me up! Tom Papa is a mensch too.
Tom I just found you from your genius Netflix show...I will get your book...I am now a fan
Really enjoyed that inview! Wow what a story about Dangerfield having a stroke on stage, and the moment with him Jay had with him in the hospital! Amazing ❤
That was a very nice, laid back chat. I wish Jay would do a vlog for a week of his filming his car show, running to catch his plane to a show. Then back/ on to the next one. I watched a small band vlog their way around 3 festivals during a week this summer and it was really interesting
This was so enjoyable. Jay is Jenuine.
Jay memory with jokes and about cars is next level stuff
The world needs Dave Letterman to do an episode of Leno’s KZread garage show. Pick a car, any car, but we need to see it. Jerry would make a nice addition.
Such a great show!
going to enjoy this i feel. 👍
That McD’s and Barney’s story is fantastic!
Great show Tom!
Jay. Yes we need recording of your shows. I will always go see you when you come to town. For sure, my idol since I was like 10. Good to show the next generations ;)
Great episode!
That was just the best interview. I met jay briefly at some car shows and its hard to talk to him at those events. Your show exposed what he is really like, JUST HIMSELF! Thank you for that. It was just a great personal interview. Thank you again.
Hilarious episode 😂

Agreed. Laughed out loud
🍞🍷I am reading all these comments below and agree with each of them. Repeatedly Jay is referred to as a "national treasure" and I must say that it really says it all. I'm following his many interviews with great enjoyment. He is so relaxed, comfortable, natural, insightful, honest -- and with a genuine humility rarely seen. This interview is splendid, and I am grateful for your interviewing style that let's Jay be Jay. Super well done by you both.🍞🍷
Is Jay's mic off?
Rodney new years eve in sunrise florida was the best
Why is one of the camera angles the back of the guest's head, and the other angle crosses the line of action?
5:55 Interview actually starts.
Neat!
Great episode! Honestly I’ve never been much of a fan of Mr Leno; I am now, to be sure!
What a lovely intro.
Happy fourth to you and your family, Tom. And to all you commenters on here too!
well done
Jay and Seinfeld were great on Letterman in the beginning. That's where I first seen them. Numerous times.
🙋♂️THANKS TOM,FOR INTERVIEWING JAY…VERY GOOD SHOW 👏👏👏…I am the same age as JAY …and this is IMHHO…SO MUCH BETTER,than reading a book 📖🤗💚💚💚
Love it Nederland city of Groningen 🎉🎉🎉
This is the best Country there is. Happy 4th of July everyone.🙋🏻♀️💜🇺🇸

I look a lot of videos of Jay but I didn't know it was dead bad Thank you to ask a little bit deeper 😲😲✌️✌️l🎉🎉🎉🎉
Breaking Bread is an under the radar podcast... surprised not higher subscriber count than 38.5,.
Nothing keeps Jay down.
Hyperbolic is exaggerated language. Lol. They meant hyperbaric. Great interview for sure.
Papa is 'proud' of his Country, the uSA. Now that is really funny; LMAO
Glad you're ok Jay. Sorry that happened to you.
Now that is a Hollywood wig at it's shaggiest.
Is Tom paying attention?
Please invest in some shockmounts
Jack Burns replaced Don Knotts after he left The Andy Griffith Show. The character's name was Warren Ferguson. He was only on for 11 episodes & then he was phased out due to the character not catching on.
I never really liked Jay when he had the Tonight show...But when got out from the under the rules of TV I'm one his biggest fans...And jokes about the Lbtw/123kns (the G's I know want no part) community have got to come back...It's a treasure trove of hilarious material...Chappelle has barely scratched the surface...
I like video podcasts . What if you’re on the low carb diet is it still breaking bread.?

Looking for definition of Hyperbolic chamber? LMAO your best guess, go.
The ONE thing I can do (sort of) is sound production. The mikes should be insulated from the table, and if they were wearing cans they'd hear Jay tapping the table making that annoying sound. SOMEONE should be monitoring what's actually being recorded. Gobel was wearing brown shoes as a JOKE because one of his best lines was "Did you ever feel like it was a black tuxedo world and you are a pair of brown shoes?".
Hyperbolic Chamber..... makes sense for two comedians. LOL..... Such an appropriate Freudian Slip
The term is HYPERBARIC chamber, not hyperbolic.🙂
Whadaya call 2 billionaires at the bottom of the ocean. A good start.
Sound could be a little louder...
Somebody would get offended if you called O.J. a murderer.
Treat Williams got killed in a motorcycle accident late last month. I think they were friends.
Hyperbaric chamber for oxygen therapy
The percentage of people that cared about the writers strike was the writers, the people on their shows AND............................Yea that's it!......
Yeah, respectfully eight days when you’re Jay Leno!!! Any other shmuck would look like an abstract painting for the rest of his life!!!
A loaf of bread started the interview and got better ratings that Papa...but at least I don't need as many sleeping pills with this guy!
I like Jay, how could you not, but the fact his show ran so long is not evidence it was particularly good. He was bland, safe, comfortable, familiar, and there was an audience for that in that era. There are plenty of formulas by which mediocre things can sustain popularity. Look at McDonald's, Tyler Perry movies, the New York Knicks, etc.
hmmm... needs to be in the same studio or is it really a podcast? i feel like im listening into a phone conversation. respect the format Jay...

@@gregorycochrane725 HAHAH Jeeez!! you are right! wow! how did i get it so wrong?! it felt so estranged to start i guess! The producers need to rethink their shots maybe? it feels and sounds like they are in 2 different studios.

Leno is out of focus and they didn't fix the shot. It looks like they racked the focus based on Jay leaning back in the chair but he ended up doing most of the podcast leaning forward
Geez, need a color correction for this. Trying to keep the burn visualized for everyone 🔥 lol
What’s with the lighting? Looks like you’re doing these in a terrarium.
You should have asked him if he's still in love with Trump.
Carson stole Maude Frickert from Jonathan Winters, and changed the name to Aunt Blabby.
imagine if you had recorded the audio
Come on if you're braking bread you should lay out a spread
Tom didn’t look like he enjoyed this podcast. Why?
@aristotle736

His personality doesnt lend itself to this format. The reading of ads,the shameless plug of his book. Oh boy !!!
I took it the other way. The billionaire's life was worth less.
Wow Jay actually looks younger. Maybe if you burn your face off, what comes back is fresher skin? I don’t know.
I like Papa but podcast studio design is not his strong suite.
CAN NOT HEAR JAY
You should fix the audio. Your voice was just a little too loud compared to Jay's.
Quit with the guilt jokes. Comedians, especially ones that have F U $ should keep the pedal down. You two are great. Podcasts have broken the “you can’t say that” BS.
Set design needs help...and then a plastic glass of water for Jay? Come on. So easy to do better. Sound comes and goes. I love the series.
Good interview. However, I did note that neither of them addressed the real issue with the current late night television hosts. Kimmel and Colbert go out of their way to promote their political agenda. It's a stupid mistake and displays no real skill at real humor. Jay Leno is still one of the best. He knows his job and does it better than most.
Excellent,, but somebody needs to tell Jay to watch that Carson, George Goble, Dean Martin thing again because I've heard him get it wrong 2 or 3 times now,, he's way off.. It was funny as hell and brown shoes were mentioned but he's way off....

how? thats all see said about it.
Tom, good show. Just do the world a favor and lose the wallpaper.
You ask us to buy your book...and.then just simply give it a good review, whether or not we like it. Why not just give it your best shot, and put it out there, and let people decide on their own? Give it a good review, even though your readers...(or maybe some of them?) "don't understand it"? Do you have a low estimation of (at least some of) your reader's intelligence, or were you just adding a little humor to your promoting your book? No, I don't mean to make out that your plug for your book is anything terrible. It's just that it's always bothered me how people, on their websites, automatically tell their readers to "like and subscribe" to their sites, without giving the reader the space on their own, to make their own decision, based on the quality of the site. It always bothered me, but I realize it's a common practice, to tell readers how they should respond to a website, And, as I said, the way you did it wasn't anything terrible. But when you tell people to automatically give your site a positive review, whether they like it...or even understand it...I had to respond to it.
This is so boring, once they started talking about Rodney Danger Dangerfield I just cl8cked off and watched Rodney clips
This is unwatchable due to the host, Tom Papa, saying the word "Yeah" and interjecting it every 10 seconds or so. An occasional "Right" but mostly "Yeah". So annoying. Some type of Tourettes?
New face, New ear, so jay is no longer 100% stock!
The Great Mr Leno and a wafer weak interviewer.
