I’m on my way out of a 6 day slump. Never doing that again if I can help it. I came back to training and I sucked. Gregory’s question was an awesome one and I relate very closely to it, so hearing your answers was very insightful. Thank you. I always look forward to listening to you guys

4 weeks off with a torn meniscus. Just back to drilling but may be 2-3 weeks before I can do a real roll. 😢

@@bulletproofforbjj For sure. I’ve been seeing physio every week since and doing the exercises to build back strength. So far all going well though it’s killing me to not be able to roll yet. 4 weeks was tough without lifting much or cardio.

I needed this, thank u guys! Been out of BJJ for months and having hard time getting back. Strength training has been chaotic, I remember the routine and how much I enjoyed it.

I have a sit down job and have been completely inactive for about 12 years and last year August I decided I needed to make a change to my health. I'm 38 and for some reason I thought working out wouldn't be much different than in my 20's...I was wrong. I was doing BJJ classes 4 times a week with 15-30 minutes of rolling each class. Both of my rhomboid muscles locked and I also started getting pain in my lower back floating ribs because of muscles tightening. Both of these issues felt like a knife was digging into my back when any weight was on top of my chest. Physical Therapy, Chiropractic, and deep tissue massage sessions have so far helped half the issues go away... but I've been out of BJJ for about 4 months now trying to recover. How can I strengthen my rhomboid muscles and ribs from having this same issue happen again? I know when I get back into BJJ I'm going to limit the amount of rolling I'll do and ease into it. Would swimming be a good choice to strengthen my back muscles. What are your thoughts JT & Joey?

Hey Mike glad you are thinking about what you need to do to prepare yourself for rolling. Swimming is not the answer. You need to strengthen your middle back and rhomboids through row variations. A renegade row is incredible for both your core strength and rhomboids. 45* Degree ring rows are also great.
