Bread paste for fishing

Спорт

Bread paste is one of those baits that fish immediately understand as food. Even on a river where the fish rarely see an angler, they will take bread paste. There are several ways of making this attractive bait and I would like to tell mine.

I'm using bread mixed with egg yolk. It creates a cloud around it in the water, that attracts fish.

Such a simple way to use bread. I cannot for the life of me understand why these "old school" baits are not used widely. It is so simple to make and i have had some great sessions when all else fails. Keep the videos coming they are excellent.

I normally just wack sliced bread crust n all in a blender then leave on a tray for a few days until its bone dry then, just use additives like salmon oil, molasses, cheese(dried Parmigiana ) or any other bait additive that takes your fancy.I've use pretty much every spice from the shop and i've found hot curry powder, ground chilli ,turmeric with molasses to sweeten it up a little and just mix it up on the bank with pond water then add the water to the bread until you reach the consistency your after. Yes you can catch trout on flavoured bread as i've had a few myself even tho i never target them.

charliecheeze1.. Also you can make cheese paste with a 50/50 bass mix of soya flour and semolina. Adding some dry pasta cheese and dried garlic powder for added attention. Mix beaten egg until it clumps up into one, and then need with hands to get a play doe consistansey and have presto!! PS you can add a small but of yellow food colouring to the beaten egg if proffered. Also garlic is an amazing fish attractor especially on rivers as it often grows wild along side the back. Hope u try this and if u do let me know how it goes from Jordan Clarke Northamptonshire

charliecheeze1 congratulations mate. Bream are a very under rated fish nowerdays. If u want the bigger Bream try pellets on the hair or banded and you could put a maggot or two on the hook aswell for movement. If you do try the past think about adding garlic as it's hard to blank with a bait that carries its sent aswell as garlic does. If there's fish in a swim they will come looking for it. Oh and what river are you fishing mate?

Bread is good for absorbing liquid colours and flavours, so I don't see a problem making a custom bait. Garlic powder could be added to the dry bread powder for example. Bread is a good binding agent, but if you use too much of any ingredient that does not naturally bind, the bait can fall apart in the water. Some trial and error will be required. Best of luck.

The ideal paste should be stiff enough to cast, but soft enough to strike through. I can't imagine why your paste would stay on as you cast, but fall off when it touches the water? The only thing I can suggest is you make it slightly stiffer. Best of luck.

  • @AmateurAngling

Paste might catch Trout, but in the UK Trout are generally caught on artificial fly which is often enforced by law. Where bait fishing is allowed, worms, maggots and minnows are used. The occasional accidental capture may happen, but is unlikely to be reported. Sorry I can't help further.

you're welcome. I recommend making 2 batches, 1 with water and 1 with soda pop. (grape/berry) works great for carp and bream. Don't roll smooth balls, if the texture is smooth you should roughen up the hookbait with your nails/pliers, so it drizzles the flakes better. Texture is crucial for a good hookset. (with float fishing that is) Cheers.👍

Too much work. Just roll/compress the bread into a small ball and put it on a hook. Even better, use that crust. Cut the crust into small chunks with plenty of bread left on and put that on a hook. The crust will stay on the hook longer and attract occasional hits from larger fish. With either, feel free to sprinkle a little garlic salt and/or add small dots of food coloring. A well proven bait.
