One of the best brawls I’ve ever seen! Watching the way these guys stuck up for Tino, I knew it was going to be a special season, and boy was it ever!

Literally the entire team was like to Benitez: so you have chosen.. pain,
How can you not love what the Boss said. That’s why he was special.

Miss him🤎🤎.... In today's world he'd be just as popular as judge
Hal would not have had the guts to say what his Dad said to reporters. That time had chemistry and was one of the greatest of all time
I remember this brawl like it was yesterday. Darryl Strawberry coming in with that haymaker was EPIC. But I totally forgot about that quote from George. 🤣
I was there that day! You could hear the punch that Darryl Strawberry landed.

Straw got clocked in the dugout, from what I remember another player saying. Torre taking Straw back to the dugout and the crowd reacting, i dont know...makes a grown man misty eyed. This effin team was a team. And damnit if there will ever be another George...what a character
Strawberry landed that left, but he also got another shot on Benitez when both teams were in the dugout. When Bernie hit the 3 run shot, I told my dad when we were watching the game that Benitez was gonna intentionally hit Tino

And Alan Mills was the reason strawberry was bleeding walking back to the Dugout

Facts
Wow 25 years ago. One of the most vicious brawls in MLB history especially when the fight went into the dugout. Remember it right after David Wells pitched his perfect game.
I absolutely Love THIS recap!! Great job bringing back those fond memories!!! We need THAT fire in the current team. Go Yankees 2023!!!!
"Back, and to the left." 😆
Strawberry with that one hitter quitter
Every time this pops up on Facebook I watch this!
You DON'T Throw At Tino Martinez!!!
Rock Raines Watched it live…one of the most exciting games ever but always drives me nuts how no attention is paid to what Raines did, ON THE FIRST PITCH after the brawl. Homer into the bleachers…crowd went berserk!!!
The Strawberry haymaker will forever be legendary.

Yo!!! 💯😂
That was a unified team that each others back, through thick and thin all season
"Back and to the left........." 🤣Love the "JFK' movie reference. Well done Derek!
*That was not the first time that Armando Benitez had hit Tino Martinez intentionally. He had hit him 3 or 4 years before this when Martinez was still with the Mariners. There's a clip from this brawl (not in this specific montage) where you can clearly see a rightfully outraged Martinez yelling as he's being held back, "He's done this before! He's hit me before!*

Yes, he holds up two fingers and yells "That's the second time he's done that to me!" while O'Neill was trying to calm him down. The first time was in 1995 in Baltimore. Edgar Martinez hit a grand slam off Benitez, who then plunked Tino on the next pitch. He hit Tino in the upper arm that first time, so it didn't really do any damage. That second time as can be seen in the video was in the middle of his back - that did damage. Tino was having another great year up to that point, but then had to miss some time and when he came back had an awful month+ long slump. Always wondered what his #s would have looked like that year if that punk Benitez hadn't drilled him.
Back when our team had balls

And no one got a trophy for sticking up for your teammates
Those games Vs. Orioles were battles.
Good Yanks video to take our minds off the current situation for not fixing the holes yet this offseason. Time is running out and we still have the same lineup we ended the season with, not good at all...
Mt dad and I were watching the game. I knew when Bernie hit the homerun, Tino was going to get hit. It was one of the best fights I've ever soon. What a great team the Yankees had. Bob Watson and Gene Michaels put that team together.
I remember this. Crazy.
Remember my brothers had this recorded in our parents VHS set at the time and man I miss this Yankee team so much
Highlight of the Jeter doc was this brawl set to Baba O"Reilly. Might be the most epic montage of all time.
I remember this!! it was great. Bernie crushed that ball
That's the real deal yankees Love it That's when the yankees was the yankees
Il remember this game the rest of my life especially strawberry 🍓 knocking that pitcher in to the douhgout.
I remember that brawl. Lol. Strawberry threw that left hay maker at Benitez. Crunch. Ty for the memories. You even had Kevin Costner in on the action. 😎👍 Go Yankees!
There was a mojo there that was once in a lifetime. How do we get that back?

*People will eventually come to realize that the New York Yankees from 1994 to 2004 were one of the most dominant and dynamic dynasties (maybe only 2nd all-time to the Boston Celtics that won 11 titles in 13 years) in professional sports history. Especially when you factor in all the playoff rounds and free agency that didn't exist in early professional sports.*

@@superbrownbrown There should have been more. They should have bounced back after 2001 and won it all 2002-2005. But that’s a tale for another time.
Miss real brawls( less frequent which is good) but when you do it do it right!
Don't mess with those Aussies!
I was at this game. 2nd or 3rd row behind the orioles dugout
Steinbrenner!! Nice to remember when men could be men
Not an owner like george ever!!! GOAT cant be replaced...
Steinbrenner was proud of his boys. The Yankees were not a team to be messed with!
omg the JFK audio LMAO
No offense but, Brosius had a deer in headlight look, when he tumbled to the front there mono v mono v Benitez. Shoulda got his fists up at leastt lol
2:48 fueled by cocaine!! Lol. 😂
i stole a ball from Steinbrenner's office in Feb '77--someday i'll explain
🍓 was a yankees legend! 🙁 was drafted by the wrong NY team(HOF?.Still the Boss's🖕to the other 28 owners & mlb beautiful..& 🤛🤪🤜😵💫👊 😫
Crazy to think that was 25 years ago. I still remember watching Bernie's majestic shot - and considering the fact that Tino is the reason for the 24 in my username, I certainly remember Benitez drilling him. Such a pathetic - and uncomfortably dangerous - sore loser move. (And yes, I feel the same way when a Yankee pitcher does that merely because they got beat on the field. Grow up.)
