Surreal, given the ups and downs of Diaz's previous three seasons. This feels like his 2018 year, only better, incredibly enough. Did Diaz just go over 18K per 9?? I think he did!! That's extraordinary.

The Canha hit was just an AMBUSH! He is so calm at the plate and delivered the most devastating hit of the game..the knock out punch!

Now let’s take 2 of 3 and maybe a sweep against the Reds. Can’t let the foot off the pedal just yet. Amazing pitching from Jake. His slider was just absolute disgusting. Had these Braves swinging at gnats. Just left one over the plate against Swanson. Great relief pitching by Rodriguez. And Diaz… no words. Dominant.

@Memory Drain Well said. It really does feel like Showalter's Mets. This is the first time since probably Davey that I've felt like the Mets have a manager who's helping them win games versus either just breaking even or actively hampering the team's chances. ---It's a small thing, fwiw, but I love the way Show is on top of the rule book. He also has more energy than any 65 year old I can recall.

Johan Santana threw a no hitter. Almost doesn't get more dominant then that. And if you've been a mets fan for that long than you've definitely seen DeGrom in more dominant form where he sustained it for more than 6 innings. But nonetheless he's working his way back from injury and this was still a great quality start. We've seen him be even more dominant and he will get back to that soon for sure! #LGM fan since 1993

Gooden in '85 was the most dominating season-long performance I have ever seen from a pitcher. Every game felt like a potential no-hitter or at least a complete game shutout.

awesome. this felt like a playoff game. degrom finally has the offensive support

NYM make a series statement to the champs. ATL is still a dangerous team no doubt. NYM are one of the best teams in the MLB and they will make a long playoff run. Congrats on the win NYM 👍.

Kudos to the new Mets ownership for giving Buck what he needs to win without always thinking of the $$$.

Even through the TV you could feel how electric the crowd was at Citi Field. deGrom was on his usual Cy Young stuff. Diaz was dominant. Even Rodriguez had a great outing. Pitching was just phenomenal today. And the run support was the best part ;)

When the Playoffs start and U got Scherzer and Degrom going back to back.. As a manager for the other Team this is my approach, Everybody show me your best bunting ability, cause we gonna need it!!!!

As a Mets fan I'm speechless. The way this team has been playing. The home crowds beyond electric. This year is special 🧡💙🧡💙🧡 Shout out to the MLB KZread team. Jacob deGrom reminds me of the player that I created for the "Road to the show" at MLB 22 ... 99 percent and he is just like Jacob. Maybe deGrom is also a playstation player. Definitely the Goat of our generation. I am a Yankees fan and I really like Cole but deGrom is by far my favourite pitcher! Huge respect!!

Mets need to extend deGrom. And we run the east.

@@blairmcbride5437 Nah, I can only speak for myself tho. I only thought that last year until injuries killed us as well as us getting cold. Before that only time I've ever thought that was the year we shoulda won in 2015. This year we are way more stacked and our offense is legitimate along with our pitching. Both have improved drastically and maintained the elite level of play. no choking this year. We will be in the world series at minimum. I believe we are winning it all

The Braves also playing better than last year except when they play the Mets we were barely at .500 this time last year. Unfortunately the Yankees look damn good 2 and I hate that team with every fibre of my being. Also as per usual the damn Dodgers and Astro's.

Exactly, because it just keeps working over and over again. Hitters know exactly what to expect and still can’t hit it. It’s like. MAGIC. 🪄 To be fair, when DeGrom is locating his pitches, he is as close to impossible to hit as possible. Hitters can’t react to the late break slider fast enough because of its speed and the fact that they also have to respect his 102 mph fastball.

Oh man what a weekend!!! Jake is just unbelievable. Diaz has finally figured out how to handle pitching in NY, best closer in the game right now.

Even the the challenge didn’t affect the game outs wise.. it was still a phenomenal move by the manager. Props to him. Key reason why the Mets won and why they’re record is the way it is.

@P M I thought July was going to be painful, with Carrasco and Walker heading towards their innings limits, with Bassitt closing in on his typical limit, leaving Scherzer and not much else, but their overall health and durability this season particularly for an old team has been incredibly impressive. I'd love to know what their medical team is doing differently.

deGROM is electric! Not a Mets fan but definitely a deGrom fan. I hope he can stay healthy. His windup & delivery is eerily similar to Pedro only much slower. That 102mph fastball, damn, oh then try and hit that slider. We wonder why most hitters hit around .200 now, the pitching is insane. I remember a time closers were the only ones throwing 95+. Now every SP is throwing in the high 90s it seems but no one is as filthy as Jacob deGrom.

Jays fan but damn, this was cool to watch

The one thing that changed momentum to the Mets which was out of the Braves control was the grounder hitting third base and popping up over third baseman into outfield..total game changer

I say this as a Brave's fan..it's obvious the Mets are just better at this point. Maybe that will change down the line, but this series has spoken volumes about the Eastern Division.
