Brassavola Jimminey Cricket 'Super Bug' HCC/AOS | Hobby Bobby

This Brassavola orchid was HUGE, so I divided it, and two of the division's were mounted onto cork bark on May 6, 2019. They'll be in my orchid grow tent to get settled, and they look awesome. I also retained a potted division which is as large as my original plant. NOTE: The copper wire was removed and replaced with plastic within 24 hours since I was told that it could harm the plant.

Thus orchid is my potentially next purchase. It is great to see the different ways to grow this beauty!

Sorry to hear about the blast. My one mount flowered a couple of months back, and it was beautiful.

may be watch the copper wire does not let not wanted chemicals burn the mounted specimen. especially with fertiliser. Its possibly safe if its plastic coated. Metal and delicate roots probably causes die back. I tried stainless steel cutlery drainers (the ones with the holes that look like you could use as a cheap orchid pot) and I very quickly changed for that reason.

I always wondered if copper would react when fertilizer interacted with it and cause issues. Keep us updated if you can please.

It grabbed onto the mount before I had any issues with the copper. Once it was secure, I removed the wire.

Any chance of a follow-up for 1 year later?

Hi, Aaron...I'll consider doing that. Not much going on with them, right now, but the larger one has bloomed twice... the other hasn't. If I do the follow up, I'll reply to you, here.
